One of my favourite cars from near 20yrs ago! I realise I'm commenting on a video with the last comment dating back 3yrs ago.. Anyway, IMBOSS just appeared again in the latest Australian Street Magazine Feb 2020 magazine, so I decided to YT this car. For anyone interested, Geoff still owns it now with a blown small block V8, methanol injection and around 1000hp and it looks fucking sick. Reading the comments most of you were bagging Geoff on the 'Cossie Engine minus the twincam head'. Well, I'm fairly sure that the engine was more Cosworth than pinto at that point. Give me a break here but if my memory serves me right from 20yrs ago, the setup in the video was: 205 block, Cossie crank, Cossie rods, forged pistons (prob not cossie but could have been?) and obviously the pinto head. Then a couple of years later he added the red twin cam cossie head to complete the YB cosworth engine setup - so good.
This car and driver came from the same town as me, I have been told that this car is now one of the fastest up the 1/4 mile in australia. Its proper big big power now so i have been told, i put this video to facebook for everyone to see and alot of local people commented on it.Andy hill still has the photo that you gave him before you left.!!!
This one back in the day had a turbo sohc pinto setup back in the late 90s then he later had a YB cosworth turbo (might have been just the YB head on the built pinto block) which is what it has in this video. Apparently now it is being turned into a V8 powered drag car.
sorry mate the body was built by reliant misprint reliance .You are wrong google it if doubt my response initial design before manufacturing was done By GHIA.
Wow, I remember this car from yeeeeeeeeeeeears ago in Street Machine Magazine. The numberplate got me straight away. Awesome. If I remember, the owner was a chef or something?
This vid would be 12-14 years old from memory. Very nice car but not much can be said for his driving style. Is he an aussie or is there some accent there?
Ok to settle this issue regarding this car . This is a B.D..A . It's Minus the TC Head Might have been a idea to fit a LSD to the car then it might deal with the power once gone positive . Ford Made the mk 1 mk2 mk 3 mk 4 mk 5 mk 6 escort Rs . plus the 1800T MK 3 BDA Cosworth .But this car did not go in to production ford junked it. They then Moved from the 1800T to the Escort Rs200 this was made By Reliance .Reliance made the 3 wheeler Robin . the engine was a Destroked BDA Cosworth unit 1.8 T . THE LAST ESCORTS MADE WAS The Mark Six .The last Rs Escort made was the Mk 6 Rs 2000 .Ford then Moved on to the Rs Focus and the ST Era begun . the MK 5 Era Escort See the Birth Of the first road legal Cosworth escort .build time on these cars was short as they stopped producing the escort cos By the Release of the Mk 6 . Hope this helps to clear up any issues .
Actually the company was called 'Reliant' & they did make the 'Robin' 3 wheeler, but your post infers that they built the RS200 & they didn't! The car was built by 'Ford Europe' to a chassis design by ex F1 designer Tony Southgate aided by Ford's John Wheeler also an ex F1 engineer & the bodywork was designed by 'Ghia'. Anyone that has ever seen ANY 'Reliant' built car with it's body removed would agree, they were not capable of building something as technical as an RS200 Ford tasked them (Reliant) with making the BODYWORK as that was their field of expertise as all their vehicles have GRP bodies, sorry to be pedantic & I'm genuinely not trying to be an arse :)
+Jaime Guajardo he had the pinto head on time this video was done his twin cam cossie head hasnt finished his was running steel cosworth crank was a weapon mk1 11secs
HAHA I have this on video from like 10 years ago its called *Performance fours and rotaries* i think. He is on another dvd after that one and has a cossie head on it AS HE SHOULD lol.
It's NOT a BDA!! The inlet and exhaust were on the opposite sides as the bda was based on the cross flow block. This is a pinto ohc head. Also ford never made an rs1800t it was the rs1700t that was based on the mk3 escort.
''Puts out about 320 horsepower.'' With pinto head, standard 4x4 intercooler and T3 running only about 16 psi of boost he is no where near 320 hp. Probably 250-270 hp range.
Never knew they made Escort mk1 Cosworth. Is it an official production Ford or has it been homemade? If an official Ford how many was made? Tried getting hold of an Escort RS1600 Turbo injection but they only made two thousand six hundred or so RS1600. If that hard find RS would think finding any type of Cosworth would be near impossible. Plus I'm pretty sure they was Banned at somepoint.
Lovely Ford Escort put on a Pontiac astre about upon it. It will have traction control used to have one of them to me until when get some information about it from one Gentleman Jim Sterling show give me all the information for Chuck's on on put on lawn mower blade underneath the Standard Spring. We have more traction I'm a changed from 13 to 16 inch rims yeah some Alkaline TSW 16 inch rims I got all the trucks on indeed World Papa all right Court respect all right
my opinion mint car not sure why you done that with the engine the time you minus the head etc just slap a 2l pinto in it with twin 40's that boost gauge gota be a blind spot and next time you do a video stick a proper driver in there ive seen these cars strictly sideways with 400+ bhp so not sure how you cant handle it full throttle
It's NOT an Escort Twin Cam. Escort Twin Cam had a Lotus engine. Cosworth engine minus the 16valve head? The 16 valve head is what makes a Cosworth, so this is just a turbo charged Pinto of dubious origin, probably Granada or Sierra. Multi leaf rear and you wonder why you're having traction problems?? And quite possibly the least talented driver i've ever seen. Sorry.

This car was absolutely legendary in the Aussie 4 cylinder scene remembering that this video is from 1999!.
More like 1997👍🇦🇺

i saw this car so many years ago..love it
Mk1 twin cam escort **minus the twin cam head** lol
cosworth yb minus that 16valve head. doesnt that make it a turbo charged pinto?

Cool car! And this is the best part 1:51 epic fun :D

Go the MK 1 Corty! my first car accident happened in a mk 1 but it was a 4 door paddock basher...
is this some sort of antipodean comedy?? i pissed myself all through it !! funniest thing ive seen in ages!!
Here mate your rev counter is on the wrong side of the windscreen

Mad car.
why is the steering wheel so far off straight!!??
mk1 twin minus the twin cam head ? lol
+Jaime Guajardo he had the pinto head on time this video was done his twin cam cossie head hasnt finished his was running steel cosworth crank was a weapon mk1 11secs
in my mind this is a pinto turbocharged isnt it, if it was a twin cam, it would have a yb 200 cosworth block in it
HAHA I have this on video from like 10 years ago its called *Performance fours and rotaries* i think. He is on another dvd after that one and has a cossie head on it AS HE SHOULD lol.
Certainly does my friend

+TheDon101277 Homemade ..only one escort cosworth
NICE ONE !!! didnt think so. Thanx for the clarification m8.
Why so many negitive commemts knob ed's, cool car, the guy obviously is a petrol head and as he says," I build a car to my spec and how I like it"
@poochybaby69
You can hear his accent right? lol

beauty of a car, just gotta work out some suspension so you can safely rip that thing
must admit i would have it in a split second still though im more ford capri man myself
needs a Harrier Escort 3.5 diff to control it better, but the kit looks wrong.
Is that not just a pinto then???
Just another Aussie running before they can walk.
Nice car though
my opinion mint car not sure why you done that with the engine the time you minus the head etc just slap a 2l pinto in it with twin 40's that boost gauge gota be a blind spot and next time you do a video stick a proper driver in there ive seen these cars strictly sideways with 400+ bhp so not sure how you cant handle it full throttle
what the fuck are you on about man? did joe biden type your reply???
Doesnt know when to stop ? Yes he does - before he sorted the suspension .
CCD
ive seen the first 45 secs while its tryin to load and all i can say is: U DRIVE WORSE THAN MY NAN FUCKIN AUSSIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lose the anti-dive kit asap
traction problems, otherwise it was putting the power down well....
WTF? DId they use the wrong text for this video? xD
Maybe if he learned how to drive an escort the car would have performed better problem lies between steering wheel and seat not the car
i bet he has wrecked that car by now lol
Nice turbo charged 'Pinto' engine, shame he can't drive for shit though eh?
It's NOT an Escort Twin Cam.
Escort Twin Cam had a Lotus engine.
Cosworth engine minus the 16valve head?

Sorry.
Wtf he s a fu#&*n gooon
Hes taken the Shitworth head off for more reliability but tbh its still just an old ill handling Ford rotbox..
yes just a pinto!! with efi , NOTHING COSWORTH ABOUT IT!!
what a shit set of alloys to go with the driver !
someone needs too learn how too drive a car.
that driver sucks. i handled rwd cars better than he when i was only 12...
you cant DRIVE !!
