    I remember one night back in 2007 i seen a nuwave commercial and have never picked up the phone so fast. I called and ordered one and of course they sold me bunch kf extras. Had to have the extender ring, i believe there was a pizza cutter/server tool, a pizza flipper thing? Pie pan and some other stuff and also a bag to hold it all in. Best purchase ever. I still have the original nuwave from 2007. I use it probably 3 times a week and it still works great. Never had any issues with the Plastic cracking or anything. Absolutely love it and hope it lasts years to come.

    So glad I came upon this video. This was exactly what I was looking for. It was on a different website called The Knowledge Burrow and it came up on my search for air fryer vs Nuwave oven. I saw a couple of your other videos, but this one helped out a lot. thank you for such good content! And now I will go look for your recipes for nuwave oven! Happy New Year to you!

    Darnell, I loved the primo. Got tired of the extra work of the dome & grill plate. I brought the NuWave Brio 6-Quart Air Fryer w/probe. I don't see you doing any videos on the NuWave Brio 6-Quart Air Fryer.

    Thank you for the comparison.
    This summer (2022) after three days of trying to cook in the evening (regular oven and stove-top) and finding it increasing interior temperature by over 4 degrees (while heat-exchanger struggling to keep temp at desired temp) I've been going outside and plugging in Nu-wave and/or instant-pot to prepare food out of doors. Leaving hot parts outside when bringing in cooked food to serve has kept interior temperature below upper parameters set on heat exchanger. *whew*

    I have a NuWave Oven , I also have xtra racks. One is smaller and fits under the other if I want more space. I have done Dinner for one and up to 4 people all in one cook time. I don't find clean up that hard . I also don't have a dish washer. I oil the racks so they clean easier. About 5 mins. clean up time. My son got one like the power fryer. Clean up looks worse to me besides for the small racks. The only thing it has that may be worth it is the rotisserie . I wouldn't give up my NuWave for it. Love my cooker! ROFL I do enjoy watching and learning new things from you and others . So keep up the great work. Thanks

    I have been using NuWave Ovens for over 10 years, on my third one now. I find them really easy to keep clean. I use aluminum foil in the pan, which keeps it clean. Quick rinse in the sink with soapy water and it's done. Non stock spray on the rack, 30 seconds with a soapy sponge, and it's clean. Every few times I use it, dome goes in sink, soapy water and sponge, and in a minute it's done. Does everything these " air fryers" do, and faster and larger amounts. Wouldn't trade my Nuwave Pro for anything else.

    • @WaveOvenRecipes

      Air fryers are faster than the NuWave Oven Pro by far. I have used way too many to let that slip. And proven the point here in like 300+ videos using both.

    Ive had the nuwave oven since 2015 or 16 and it has air fryer tendencies but not fully but i have used it for it quite alot and my outcome has a better look because you have to spray oil after you batter. Idk if that applies to a real air fryer but will invest in 1 soon

    I had the old Jetstream oven from Nesco, which was the original air fan oven. Then, years later came the NuWave. It does a great job. I loved my Jetstream and the only drawback was cleaning it, and the fact it took a lot of room. Unlike the NuWave, the Jetstream had an additional ring you could add for doing whole chickens, or small turkeys. To keep things from flying off the rack, up into the fan, you just stand a rack on top of your food and it breaks the speed of the airflow and won't send your pepperoni flying....lol. They all have their pros and cons depending what your needs are also. I now have a Breville Oven/Air Fryer, since I'm a huge Breville fan, and it allows you to bake, broil, sear, air fry, just about everything except doing a large chicken or turkey. Yes, it's an investment but doesn't take as much room as the Jetstream and Nuwave, again, it's what your needs are, that's the important thing.

      The NuWave Oven has an extender Ring and can cook Turkeys up to 16 pounds.
      ua-cam.com/video/2IwqaWhCpiU/v-deo.html
      (You can ignore the part about washing the turkey 😂)
      It can also do a whole turkey from frozen:
      ua-cam.com/video/8TgXU1vfQqc/v-deo.html
      I've also used the ring to help do slow and low cooking of Pork Shoulder Butt and Brisket:
      ua-cam.com/video/RWOPClBJjBE/v-deo.html
      ua-cam.com/video/LP3bJ4yWvh4/v-deo.html
      My personal favorite now is the NuWave Bravo. It's similar to the Breville Smart Oven Air, but has some added features like a temperature probe. So it can cook to a specific temperature. I use it almost every day when reheating food, to ensure I reheat to a desired temp, along with regular cooking daily.

      @@WaveOvenRecipes I almost bought the NuWave a few years ago, but figured if I bought any more kitchen appliances, I would have to build an addition to the house, just for them alone.........lol. I've finally reached my limit, although I've only heard good things about the NuWave, rarely anything negative. The Jetstream did have problems with their unit fizzling out after a couple of years, and they're still around so maybe by now they've made improvements. Appliances are becoming more user friendly with each passing year, and boy, are they tempting !!

    The round design is what makes the new-wave cook so well, so quickly. It’s also what makes it a bit inconvenient. To actually use it requires double the counter surface, as the top lifts off, and the power cord is attached to the top. I might want to own both.....but I couldn’t give up my New-wave.

    I believe a 4 ~ 4-1/2# chicken is doable if you truss it up. By keeping wings and leg/thighs close to the bird you end up with a more compact mass of meat on the rotisserie. This is how I truss chicken but for the Power Air Fryer I'd loop the legs together. www.chefsteps.com/activities/tips-tricks-best-way-to-truss-a-chicken

    So the main differences in performance is the Air Fryer has a weaker fan, has less of a cooking volume and is easier to clean? I don't get it...why isn't the air fryer considered just a newer model of the NuWave type of oven? All of this hubbub about Air Fryers and it doesn't seem all that different from a NuWave...am I missing something?
    (BTW, thanks for taking the time and reviewing these 2 items as I have been conflicted and wondering if we should get one).

    • @WaveOvenRecipes
      @WaveOvenRecipes  5 років тому +2

      The Power Air Fryer Oven is able to reach 400° F. And in some of my testing mildly pops corn. Which means it is really reaching near 450 F. The NuWave Oven Pro tops out at 350° F. This is why the Power Air Fryer Oven does Air Frying better. It doesn't need a fan blowing things all over as much. Its compact size and the Elite's all metal interior allows it to better focus the heat. It's different from the NuWave Oven. The NuWave Oven is good for cooking very large items. 👍🏿

    • @barbaramcdonald5036
      @barbaramcdonald5036 5 років тому +1

      @@WaveOvenRecipes Ah so....actually, we have an ELITE model which reaches around 420 degrees I believe. So ij that case, it doesn't seem like there is much of a difference for us.🤷‍♀️

    • @WaveOvenRecipes
      @WaveOvenRecipes  5 років тому +3

      The Elite reaches 425°F but is a different design. The Power Air Fryer Oven is a compact design with an all metal interior. It was designed to air fry and does it very well. The NuWave Oven of all stripes is bigger and unable to concentrate the heat the same. The NuWave is a real multi-cooker. The Power Air Fryer Oven is an airy fry specialist.
      What all these cookers have in common is that they are Convection Ovens. With various customizations beyond that.
      But I would never say they are they same. They're all very different. Which is why I also made this video.
      ua-cam.com/video/DKbhShoqK_I/v-deo.html

    • @WaveOvenRecipes
      @WaveOvenRecipes  5 років тому +2

      Neither are good for baking. As I mentioned in that video, Convection Toaster Ovens are the best bakers. Air Fryers are the _worst_ bakers of all. NuWave Oven bakes better than the Power Air Fryer Oven, but worse than a Convection Toaster Oven 👍🏿.

    The 360 air fryer, now can take a 14 lb turkey or chicken (My chickens can get 14 lbs, free range roosters).
    I picked up a Nuwave at a yardsale for $15 , I just need to get the rack, as it was missing. I got moved into a single wide trailer and my ovens (2 nice glasstop ovens) have been outside in the sand for 7 years. I used to feed a church with them. So I haven't had an oven for 7 years. I have read well over a hundred 1 star reviews on the QVC forum about this Power Air Fryer Elite. Almost every one talks about how the unit malfunctions, breaks, or won't work after a few weeks or months. usually before the 60 day guarantee runs out. I'll keep my Nuwave which I have been using for over a decades with not one break down.

      Really, the Nuwave Oven is a great cooker. But the newer tech is not to be missed or avoided 🙂. Newer cookers like the Power Air Fryer Oven are pretty good. If I had to make this video today, I wouldn't change a word.
      Even NuWave has improved on their older NuWave Oven line. Great stuff. Many videos here of them.

    Thank you for this helpful video! I was about to get a Nuwave Pro Plus (that has a couple of cracks in the clear dome but supposedly still works anyway...), but I already have an air fryer. Not the one here - just a standard capacity Avalon Bay air fryer. I assumed from the description of the Nuwave that it could do a ton more than an air fryer, eg cook from frozen. But it sounds like its main benefit over an air fryer is simply larger capacity. Would you say that you still feel like that's the case? I can't afford to buy a new fancy gadget but am just wondering since I would probably have to replace the dome if I get the used Nuwave. I have limited counter space and don't usually cook for more than 1-2 people, so it sounds like it might not be worth the lost space and having to buy a replacement dome...I doubt I'd usually be drawn to cook a whole big chicken or turkey. Is there anything you really feel like the Nuwave Pro Plus does better than a standard air fryer, besides capacity?

    Let me clear this up for everyone if you line the bottom of your NuWave with a piece of aluminum foil before you start it makes clean-up a hundred times easier. Once you're done having dinner a half of sink a soapy water cleaning the rack and Dome is a breeze and only takes a few seconds. I've had my NuWave since they first come out I now have 3 overtime the domes 10 to crack once they get to the point where you can't use them you keep an eye out at thrift stores and buy them when you can get them for under $20

    Got the nu wave oven pro for christmas and it is amazing. Your videos have really helped. I have heard through reviews that the air fryer power elite will melt the outer casing. It seems to be a issue that is pretty common from what I read. I know the nu wave clear dome also has issues too but that the pro dome is much better.
    I have recently cooked two full rack of ribs with the two layers,1 inch and 2 inch racks, and they were amazing. I watched your video of doing one rack so thought why not do two. It worked great.
    I have never had a problem with clean up. What I do is just take the pan and put my racks in it upside down with the one inch rack first. I will let it soak for a bit then just wipe it down and done. Takes maybe 10 minutes at most besides soaking it. Using aluminum foil in the pan also helps with clean up. I agree it would would be tougher in a dishwasher but so far I have not had the need to do that.
    I did do some dehydrating and it worked really well. Made a ton of beef jerky and also some apple chips. I do agree that the fan is a bit strong for the apple chips but they still turned out amazing.
    Also there is a decent price difference. With the nuwave being just over a 100$ and the Power elite coming in at 200$ or there about depending on what accessories you get.
    Great videos! you have taught me a lot with the nu wave!!

    • @WaveOvenRecipes

      The NuWave Oven is a great cooker. 👍🏿
      The Power Air Fryer Oven Elite does not have melting issues. What those complaining are not saying. Is that you must keep the protective glass door in place. If that is removed and a cook performed, then yes the front outter casing will begin to melt. And that's from not using the cooker properly. To those with such complaints, I say that is a "you" problem... (You as in them.) There are no such issues when the cooker is used properly.

    My only problem with the Nuwave is quality of the lid ( it will crack) and the "optimistic" cooking times in their ads. Other than that, I'm a long-time fan of the Nuwave/Nuwave Pro. I find cleanup is very easy in the sink, but I rarely use my dishwasher anyway. I like to turn and rearrange food-especially frozen, in the middle of the cooking cycle and I find taking off the lid very convenient for this-as long as you're careful about how you lift it.

    Giant clear dome makes the food more visible and air circulation/cooking temps more even. Cleaning is much easier because the nuwave comes apart with just a twist. Nuwave got it right more than a decade ago. All of the innovations since then have tried to beat it. None can compete with the basic large clear dome style. The only advantage newer air fryers can have is a higher temperature setting. Nuwave max is 350 degrees. Some of the newer designs can cook hotter. But that's not always a good thing. I've owned several Air fryers. I tend to still reach for the nuwave first. A Nuwave clear dome air fryer and an instant pot are the only kitchen cooking appliances needed.

    Thanks for doing this video. I have been using NuWaves for over a decade. One of the things I use it for is to roast ~ 6 pound organic free range chickens, but rotisserie chicken comes out much better with crispier skin. Can you talk about the rotisserie chicken results, for which one would likely need the 8qt at minimum, or buy smaller birds, which seems a waist of electricity

      To get crispy skin let it sit on the counter 1 hour before cooking. The air will dry the skin letting it crisp in the oven. Also letting it come to room temp first improves even cooking.

    I have a nuwave oven and love it.. I have been thinking about getting an air fryer recently but didnt know if there was a difference. the Nuwave sometimes doesnt seem to get things as crispy as a fryer.. Just wanted to know what you thought about that. Is it worth it to put the money into getting an air fryer and having the Nuwave? I have an oil fryer but was trying to be a bit more healthy

    I have both and I agree with you on the ease of use. I have really just started using both, as I made a big move and had theNuWave packed away. Both cooked about the same but I love the ability of being able to cook a large turkey in the NuWave. I did so a couple of Thanksgivings ago. It was delicious. I did my own test using both today and cooked a stake in both. Both came out well. Last week I cooked a cake and found it hard to judge the time. I over cooked it but it still was good. I will try again with less cooking time. I love both and will use both depending on the meal I will be preparing. Thank for your review.

    Sorry bro, I gotta go with the Nuwave. I feel like the Nuwave promotes healthier cooking. For example: You can't steam vegetables in the Oven Elite, but you can in the NuWave....You can get better grease runoff and fat dripping with the grates on the Nuwave vs the Oven Elite. Not to mention you can cook Bigger items like Large Frozen Pizzas and air fried chicken. The Oven Elite doesn't do well with cooking multiple pieces of chicken at once. Most of the pieces don't cook evenly throughout if your putting them on multiple levels. either way that's just my opinion and i enjoy your videos keep up the great work!

    • @WaveOvenRecipes
      @WaveOvenRecipes  6 років тому +4

      You are quite mistaken about the Power Air Fryer Oven Elite. And my coming videos will prove this beyond all doubt.
      The NuWave Oven and Power Air Fryer Oven Elite are equals when it comes to promotion of healthful living and allowing fats to drip off.
      The Power Air Fryer Oven cooks many pieces of chicken at once. I have found, in equal total cooking time with the NuWave Oven. Items on the lower levels are finished off much faster than you realize. This makes the end total cooking time equal with the NuWave Oven. Like I said, you'll see in coming videos.
      The Power Air Fryer Oven Elite certainly can cook vegetables equal to the NuWave Oven.
      The only difference as I mentioned, is the NuWave Oven can cook Turkeys and such very large items, the Power Air Fryer Oven Elite cannot do Turkeys. But the 8 Quart Power Air Fryer Oven Elite can do Whole Chickens of normal size and rotisserie them.
      Thank you for your support and stay tuned 👍🏿📺

      Stacey imurgift Rice I've had my NuWave for about 4 years and, besides the burners on the stove, it's our go to appliance for most meals. You just have to adjust the cooking times to about half what the package says and check it. I can honestly say that frozen foods come out better than foods like muffin or cupcake batter as the circulating air tends to push the batter so it looks like a wave, and the insides of large refrigerator biscuits in a can don't get done, but the small ones do. Trial and error, and practice makes perfect, and you'll figure out.

I found that the airfryer is good for cooking frozen foods such as wings or fries. NuWave oven is great when it comes to cooking chicken breast (even frozen) or large pieces of meat. NuWave's food generally comes out juicy and crispy depending on what you are cooking. I use both often. My gas oven rarely gets used.

      I have had the new wave oven for over 5 years. I did have to replace the dome, but I was so devastated by the old one cracking that my son gave me the new dome. I stop the aluminum foil from fly by crimping it to the rack on 2 sides. Also found that the aluminum pans you can get at the dollar store work great for saving on the problem and clean up. I have an air fryer, but not the pro air fryer oven. I also love the fact that you can cook frozen. Saves on the stress of cooking something after work that you took out to defrost, but are too beat to cook.

    Great comparison. I let an 11-year-old use my air fryer, with coaching of course, and it seems she would not be wise to try handling the nuwave. So, the air fryer would be better around youngsters.
    Also, I do not want the hassle of cleaning the nuwave, from what I read and hear. So, you helped me make up my mind as to which to get, given I have limited space. My air fryer just broke down after 7 months so I would prefer to get a larger one, over the one I have, if the company won't replace this one. As for the nuwave technology -- I thought the point was it penetrates deeper and quicker. Wonder if electric use is greater or less, using the infrared tech.

    I have been using the NuWave for years but only occasionally for a few items and have been very happy with the way it performs. I do pork shoulders very similar to what you do in another video! I am now on my second one.
    All my washing of it is by hand. The dome is awkward because of the size but it is not hard to clean. The hardest part to clean for me is the grate. If it has a lot of burnt on crud, I let it soak overnight in the tray with soapy water. It would be better if the tray was about a half inch higher as the grill is almost at the height of the tray.
    My biggest complaint is the quality of the dome and their high prices for parts including the shipping. They are well known for long cracks forming in the plastic dome. That happened to my first one and now to the second one, even though I have been extremely careful not to stress it. My brother had the same issue with several of his. The first one also had the coating come off the drip tray that the grill rests in. The tray of the second oven is holding up so far.
    I was going to order a new dome and tray for the first one but I came across a new unit on sale that was a good deal at Kohl's with all of their coupon specials. The price of new one was about the same for parts and shipping for the old one. I was suspecting NuWave had no desire to fix the cracking dome issue because the high price at time of the replacement part was a revenue source for them.
    They now have a new dome that is supposed to be more durable but it is not as tall and so it puts the power unit much closer to the food on the grill. The extender ring will have to be used a lot more. That is an inconvenience to some degree. I went to order the new design dome a couple of times but it was always out of stock.
    They have taken a lot of flak on the cracking dome issue to the point that I think it was cutting into sales. At least they appear to be doing something about it after all of these years.
    The Air Fryer looks to be a good product, time will tell. I think I will pass because of the smaller cooking area and what looks like the bigger external size.
    Another alterative I am considering is a convection microwave oven. It appears the table top convection ovens work in a fashion similar to the NuWave. Combining it with a microwave saves space and the price is not out of line. However I already have a fairly new straight microwave. In hindsight, I should have considered the combo microwave at the time.
    I would highly recommend the NuWave if not for the cracking domes.

      I got the Yellow Power Dome for my NuWave Oven 3 years ago. After the first dome cracked. The Yellow Power Dome is the exact same size as the original Dome. And I have never had even the smallest of crack from it.

      @bruceh3786 6 років тому

      Thanks for the reply. I found the yellow dome on the NuWave web site but they do not give any dimensions. Total for one dome and shipping is $48.90!
      Amazon also lists a yellow dome for $33.36 free shipping. The listing says it is 6 1/2 inches tall.
      I measured mine by putting it on flat surface and laying a yard stick across the top where the power head would normally be. The distance from the counter top to the bottom edge of the yard stick is 8 inches so I think the Amazon model at least is shorter than what I have. It looks that way in the photo.
      What is interesting is I could only find one dome part on the NuWave site and that is an orange one.
