Oh no. There's a competitor now. Alright. The only fair way to determine this is to have half the people vote now, then do a debate, then have the other half vote. That will make sure that the informed vote doesn't overtake the uninformed vote because that would be dangerous.
@@gamemasters I don't worry too much about that, as the PHB has now long been the launch title/tome for any new edition. Its the only single edition volume that allows you to play that edition upon release. Sure it might not offer up some of the rules refining of the DMG or the full roster of monsters in the MM, but it explains how the edition functions and offers you up monster stats. That rules understanding and a few examples of how monsters are created, allows any really motivated party to create monsters for their sessions until the MM releases.

At the end of the day, I am sticking with OSR games like BX/BECMI and AD&D. I am calling it 5.5 because that is what it is. Sorry 😁 And it isn't just to be contrarian. And, though I only DM for classical editions, I am in a 5.5 game. We started calling it 5.5 just to tell the difference between wich book we were looking in - which, until recently, was either the 5e PhB or the UA 5.5 playtest compilation. Saying the whole year, which is what Hasbro is trying to popularize, was just to much of a mouthful. Maybe if I heard of this 5r idea a few months ago, we would have gone that way. I kinda like the idea of the edition carrying the year of its launch
there have been a few that won't consider it to be released in one year since the mm comes out in 2025. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
