      Same ,it's constantly used and sometimes it works when it absolutely should not .The only time that's valid is if the mental illness really makes them not even know what they are doing and that it was wrong ,many people are depressed or sad or have some mental issues but that's not an excuse to kill and just because your young ,a child ,doesn't mean you can't be evil .

      Speaking as an educator, we have to understand what drove this child to do such a horrific act. What triggered it? Why didn’t she get any support before it got so bad.
      Children don’t fully develop maturity before they reach the age of 23. She knew it was wrong but didn’t think of consequences.
      It is our job as educators to protect the children, to make them feel accepted, to help them

      That's interesting because it shows that she didn't want to be apprehended from doing what she was going to do (shoot her step-father) but it doesn't prove that she knew this action was wrong, merely that she was committed, for whatever reason, to going ahead with it. @@MaisieGibula-g3v that's such a great question. To me, it just makes it worse. Like she thought so far ahead with this, thinking if she came across as innocent looking and claimed severe mental instability, she'd be able to get the jury to pity her. That's the worst part, to me. If you're aware of possible mental problems or you suspect you may have some going on, maybe tell someone about it and get help. But instead, she wanted to use that for an excuse to murder her parents. I would think it takes a lot of thought and planning, especially for a kid, to move so calculated and actually go through with it. It's just unbelievable. Add in that she had to make it a point to tell a friend, and that just makes it even worse. These kids are really taking the desire for internet fame/notoriety way too far.

I remember when Columbine happened and a young teen next door came over to have a chat. He asked me what I thought and I told him that it was wrong for those boys to kill innocent people for their own fame, if that was the correct term. He agreed. I told him that if he ever thought about doing something like that to stop, think about your future and how do you want to spend it, and think about your family and the family of the victims. This young teen was growing up in a family with problems and I wanted him to feel safe to talk with me. I moved shortly after that and I wonder how he turned out. • @TwoBs
      @TwoBs Місяць тому

      Huh? Kids have been held accountable when they’re doing something so very obviously heinous that ends in murder.
      We’ve got a whole slew of child criminals dating back decades holding life sentences that have been held accountable for their actions, and that’s just the ones using a gun to commit their act. That’s not even counting the ones who used another form of a weapon (or even their bare hands) to take away another.
      This idea that they’re only now being held accountable is so bizarre … like we’re going to pretend the last 40+ years with prominent child criminals had never happened and act as if only now that justice is being served to try and drum up agreement and likes from people that don’t even bother thinking about what you’re even saying….
      Kids have been held accountable so much that now parents are beginning to be held accountable for being aware of their antics prior while doing nothing and giving them access to weapons. If anything, that right there is the new thing going on that deserves the “FINALLY!” view … because children underage committing heinous acts being made to serve time in prison just like an adult would is not a new thing. Many have been tried and given sentences just like an adult would be given. Many have been tried as juveniles and still continue to serve their time in prison well beyond 18 into their adult years. This is not new just because you’re paying attention _now_ …

    Like many are saying it's not the pot or the vapes that caused her to kill her mother and attempt to kill her stepfather, this teen is a danger to society. It's hard to look at someone so young and say that, but it's true she knew exactly what she was doing and now must pay the price. She should have taken the 40 years because now she's never getting out of prison.
