How Strong is Simon the Digger? (Gurren Lagann Month)

- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- His drill creates the heavens. He is the leader of Team Dai-Gurren, and the savior of humanity. But just how powerful is SImon the Digger? It's time to assess the story and take a look at his feats, using all calculations and context to determine his true power!
Editor’s Note (Spoilers!):
I missed a few things! Specifically, Simon is High Complex Multiversal. The galaxies in the final battle are confirmed by the creators to be universes, and lastly, Simon is 11th dimensional since he absorbed the multi-dimensional labyrinth. - Фільми й анімація
Attention Spiral Beings! I must admit I missed a few things in my breakdown, turns out Simon is even stronger! The galaxies in the final battle are actually small universes, Simon himself is 11th dimensional due to absorbing the multi-dimensional labyrinth, and as the epilogue shows us, he’s continued to escalate in power, further surpassing the Anti-Spirals and is likely strong enough to combat the spiral nemesis itself. This puts him in the high complex multiversal-outerversal range! I’ve decided to keep the video as is because I’m very proud with how it turned out!
As you should be. This video is 10/10
And yet at end of his journey he still chooses to step aside for the next generation to just be "some guy". The absolute unit.
Lol when did it indicated it's universes it's definitely just galaxies no doubt about it.
@@Beresunablle It's confirmed by the creators that they were in fact universes, but they had no way to draw it besides making them look like galaxies. Since the Anit-Spiral universe sits on the edge of the multiverse, it can gain access to a multitude of uiverses, like when they reached out to grab a hold of Earth.
@TheMKninja I don't have a direct source, but I've heard this from dozens of second-hand sources.
Simon’s the kind of guy who would beat Gojo not by bypassing infinity, but by breaking through it.
Yeah, effecting causality kinds became the norm in the second half of gurren lagann even for the people on the ship not to even mention the actual fighters in the mecha's. I still remember the line "oh no we have a 0% chance of hitting the foe, okay use causality altering missiles and now its a 100% chance to hit and dmg them" haha
You're not wrong, that's essentially what the multiversal labyrinth is.
@@BLKW4RDR3M0N If Gojo's ability wasn't just infinite 1 dimensional space separating one point from another, and was instead infinite fractalling universes being birthed instantaneously to separate you.
He wouldn't even need to he goes so much faster than light he'd just do it so that it would be harder on him
How strong is Simon?
Yes
however strong he needs to be in order to Peirce the heavens and beyond
AntiSpiral: Impossible! intelligent beings can't break through the multiversal labyrinth!
Simon: WE ARE NOT INTELLIGENT ! !
WHAT IS A PROPER EDUCATION GOT TO DO WITH SURVIVING!!!!! DRILL THROUGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Saiyans: We are the strongest race in the universe, we grow stronger the closer we get to death!
Humanity: Let me see you grit those teeth!
You didn’t give credit to the true protagonist and true mvp of the series: Boota. If he hadn’t sacrificed his ass to feed Simon and Kamina in episode 4, it would have been game over.
*Ahem* nice vid.
He also had enough Spiral Power to boost the Cathedral Terra. Truly a valued member of Team Dai-Gurren! I love the little Boota that came with my Simon Nendoroid.
The anti spirals unkowingly handicapped themselves. They were so afraid of their own power they essentially voluntarily all gave up their lives to combine their power into one massive hive mind. Their error was believing there was a cap to their power. Simone saw every attempt to stop him or limit him as just another barrier to drill through, including his own limitations. He beat the anti spirals at their own game becuase they believed in limitations and he did not.
This was a nice video, but it's worth mentioning that it's been stated before that the "galaxies" seen in the final battle are actually universes. The animation team didn't have a better way to convey that image, so it ended up looking like they were significantly smaller than the intended scale.
Fair, but even without that detail, he's high-complex multiversal
@@TheMKninja Yeah, it doesn't really affect the scale. It's just something that makes the whole thing far more ridiculous and impressive given than the STTGL is now itself orders of magnitude larger.
@@TheMKninja If an entity can effect multiple multiverses, or can create a space with multiple multiverses, wouldn't the next logical step be "ultraversal"?
(Universe : Square) < (Multiverse : Cube) < (Ultraverse : Tesseract)
@@NomimizuShinobu Yes, I made a mistake in my final scaling. I should’ve declared Simon higher than multiversal
i swear to god if soemone says "can he beat gooku tho ?" after seeing this video, i will find you, and i will educate you...
The single character that changed my view of life
Truly he is the soul of team dai gurren
He is truly an inspiration, and one of my favorite characters of all time.
@@TheMKninja totally agreed
Especially with recent problems with friends of mine
I find rewatching the show truly motivational
Especially seeing Simon move on and grow stronger
God I love this show
Row Row FIGHT THE POWER!
DO THE IMPOSSIBLE, SEE THE INVISIBLE
Row Row FIGHT THE POWER!
TOUCH THE UNTOUCHABLE, BREAK THE UNBREAKANLE
row row, fight the power
FIGHT THE POWER!
simon at the star is jsut a kid, simon at final is overpowered, he fought the enbodiment of stagnation and nihilism, he is close to god tier level, atleast his will is turlly crushing.
I should've mentioned this, but he's kind of beyond god level, since his growth is infinite. We can all aspire to be like him, fighting against the impulse and soceital pressures to stay the same or submit, and bloom into something great and powerful; our true selves.
@TheMKninja if this weakling is God tier then goku is an all powerful omnipotent being that surpasses the gods. Prove me wrong😂
@@animecity9678 bait used to be believable
I like how in the end, he doesn’t continue to use his powers for universal endeavors and such. He becomes a homeless guy who helps small villages find water (in the movies) and helping kids open coconuts. He leaves it to the future generation. He even said it during the final fight, “this drill will open a hole in the universe, and that hole will be a path for those behind us.” If Gurren Lagann continued, the kid with the coconut would probably become stronger than Simon.
I would hazard a bet that the final form could take out base Saitama by simply doing too much damage before his exponential growth can catch up
Thats Saitamas trick, he is Simons Spiral Equal
The multiverse needed some sort of equilibrium
Saitama ain't doing sht against simon willpower
He can logaritmically get stronger ?
Sure ! , simon can get logaritmically stronger +1 !
@@elcalabozodelandroide2 nice Yu-Gi-Oh reference 😂
Saitama gets one shot on multiple plaines of existence because he can’t exponentially grow to scale high enough literally ever. Even if he had infinite time for growth it would still be on a 3rd dimensional space while simon is in the 11th and grows faster in that 11th dimensional space, probably even being able to bypass it eventually as he’s shown growing out of different dimensional levels in the past if given enough time. It’s the same idea of saitama one shorting cosmic fear garou after going back in time, garou didn’t have enough time to copy saitama, but the concept is on crack when it comes to saitama vs simon. Sorry.
According to promo stuff, the dimensional labyrinth was between the 11 and 12th dimension so you can get him higher if you want
My biggest regret is that I should’ve scaled him higher. I did say he absorbed the labyrinth, but forgot to mention 11D. I’m happy with the video, but honestly, Simon basically scales infinitely.
…and he’s also immortal by the end of the series iirc. Cause Lord Genome was and Simon has the same spiral coloured eyes.
Well, goku would kill this clown over and over again until he submits. He may be Immortal, but thay doesn't mean he can't feel pain lol😂 still, how long do u think this weakling can withstand being obliterates by a ki blast over and over an over and over and over again?
I always wondered how in the world simone would protect the universe from the spiral nemesis if he was just going to die in ~80 years. Being immortal probably helps
like by the shows own rules Spiral power just straight up ignores logical reasoning in favour of "winning anyway as long as we think we can". Just completely the "I reject your reality and substitute my own" mindset but done is such a great way that it's always amazing.
Simon win's basically any *but can he beat...* argument because to put it simply "Simon's strength/power = yes". Spiral power allows him to be as strong as required as long as he believes it to be so...And like by the end of the show there's a less than 0% chance of breaking his spirit anymore.
It's literally the rule of cool except in this setting not making sense even in context just makes it make even more sense.
By the end of the show, even attempting to break his spirit just reinforces it further since it shows that they think he can win too, so they try to get him to give in. Simon is a cliché Shonen protagonist in the best way.
About the only thing that can beat Simon is narrative tiering.
A being that can step Above the medium the fight is occuring in.
For example: Popeye in one cartoon stepped out of his animation cell to threaten the artist.
This would allow him to go "Hey, write me as beating this Simon guy.", and thus he would.
@@calemr Toon's are a whole different thing. "Toon Force" is a tier all it's own.
Ye let's call it cool factor. Simon will basically just say "FCCKKK YOUIUUU!!!!" then proceeds to materialise a giga outerversal godly futa mech which then proceeds to shoot spiral sperm which destroys reality itself
There is a movie?! Oh boy i know what ill be doing today
Yup, there are two actually! One for each arc. Second movie is better, adapts the arc smoother and gives us more badassery. I made a video on my thoughts, but I’d recommend watching them first. They released in Western theaters this year and were dubbed for the first time. Glorious seeing them on a big screen, if you can do it with a projector or something, do it.
I like to believe Simon could defeat Gold Experience Requiem through raw spirit alone. How are you supposed to reduce his willpower to zero when it out-scales your own?
Spiral Power VS Revert to Zero gets you Infinity minus Infinity.
It doesn't even make sense.
@@calemr Gonna be honest, Simon would just Determinator his way through GER.
Goku would deystroy this clown.
Taking into account a stand ia a manifestation of your fighting spirit and all spiral energy is is the indomitability of spirit, the second Simon sets foot in the JoJo universe he would most likely awaken the most busted and broken stand by sheer will alone, like Tusk 4 levels of insane
GER has only been shown to function in the 5th dimension if you’re generous on how King Crimson’s time erasure works. But GER wouldn’t be able to comprehend Simon’s attacks as they are in the 11th dimension.
tengen toppa gurren lagann is actually bigger than universes, the creator just didnt know how to draw them so he drew them as galaxies
Yeah I realized that after the fact. There will be a video tomorrow where I correct upon this.
Fairly certain the limit of spiral power is an imaginary number.
Its technical ‘limit’ is just how much the universe can withstand before collapsing. So Spiral Power itself is unlimited, the universe isn’t. Technically Simon can grow infinitely, as can everyone in Team Dai-Gurren.
@@TheMKninja so it’s basically an n+1 scenario, where n is the opponents powers and Simon is always +1.
As long as Simon doesn’t lose faith (which all things considered, is basically impossible), then he’ll always outgrow his opponent.
Simone and spiral power operate thusly: as long as simone keeps his cycle up of belief in the simone that believes in him, a positive feedback loop will be created where the net gain is more power and if that cycle remains unbroken and he keeps up his determination then his power will spiral into infinity. Ites truly mind bending how powerful simone can become. @harrythompson-heap9754
Simon and Gurren Lagann should definitely be in a Death Battle.
Simon is confirmed to appear next season. And I'm making a more in-depth look at the crazy abilities he has in a future video.
@@TheMKninja Simon was really confirmed to be in this season's fighter? Sweet. I thought they would have only talked about if Simon could beat Goku from DB cast.
As someone who is currently making a google doc (20k words so far) outlining all different scaling chains, different continuity scales and such. Also including trasnslating the dictionary, work soul and final drill and more. I wanna give you praise to how well read this video is, on top of being a good video in general. I
I'm proud of how the community is still active and alive to this day.
Admittedly I did scale Simon a little too low because I missed a few details. I’d more put him in High Complex Multiversal or Hyperversal, with the potential to go higher considering Spiral Power’s infinite potential. But thank you for the praise!
@@TheMKninja Yeah, no problem I noticed the post universal metas for Gurren Lagann were missing, but I don't think this detracts of the quality of the video. And I also want to say that Simon has multiple other feats and statements (a vast majority of which are author ones) for hyperspace and even above, but it is impossible to outline that in a video(I've tried.)
@@baboin1851 I’m addressing part of it in a future video. I usually focus on exploring themes and ideas when it comes to anime, that’s what most other Gurren Lagann Month videos were about (even if previous years are outdated) so it’s new territory for me. I’m happy to see the community is still active and alive, and if I can help bring some of that together with a video, that’s a proud feeling. Next year’s videos are going to be even better.
@@TheMKninjayooo, hi it's me again. I thought your name rang a bell, but exactly 29 days ago we talked on the powerscaling subreddit. You asked for my stance on powerscaling Kittan. And I responded with the information I had then.
@@baboin1851 Yup, I remember that now.
The way I'd put Spiral Energy is (unironically) the indominable human spirit, determination, and willpower
Absolutely Amazing Video! Thank You!
He's one of the strongest characters in fiction just based on Simon boosting his team to Universal Level along with him in the movie version of the final battle!😱 Only fighters who can contend with Simon are Gag,Parody, and author wanked characters at their maximum interpretations based on their narratives along with their fanbases!😤
Simon is goated, but lets be real, there are plenty stronger than him, even without wank, gag or parody. just going by what you said, Simon is an author wanked character at his maximum interpretation based on the narrative lol.
Goku clears this guy with no difficulty. If they were to battle, the fight would last less than 20 seconds. If even that. Imagine thinking a human in a mech suit can beat a literal alien who can blow up planets without breaking a sweat😂 Of he's strong then goku is invincible
@@animecity9678Simon can also break planets without a sweat to, being up better feats at least 🗿
@@animecity9678 destroying planets? Super Gurren lagann tengen toppa was using whole galaxies as Frisbees and here is a fun fact for you. At the bare minimum, a galaxy contains about 800 billion planets, trillions at the most. Nobody in dbz has anything that could even remotely hurt this guy.
Upon reaserching further into it, those "galaxies" are actually universe's. The author in an interview said that he didn't know how to actually draw universe's sonhe drew them like galaxies. This man was using entire universe's as Frisbees. The guy could literally just pick up the dragonball universe's and play marbles with them.

Oh shit there's a gurren laggan month?!? Well I gotta do something to commemorate this
It's something I've done to celebrate the anime. It premiered April 1st, and I was born April 30th. Since it's my favorite show, I've done videos every year for some time. It's similar to when PBG did Zelda Month.

I love this anime so goddamn much, and to me, this is just my opinion and I’m not saying to at it’s gonna be true with everyone, this show is on a scale of greatness that is comparable to dragon ball, and very other anime I’ve seen. It’s amazing and I’m dying to see more if this show in the future.
My 8th favorite anime...+ Props for the bittersweet ending
Only being in anime or manga that could beat him is Saitama…and that’s cause that’s what he’s supposed to do that’s his character..even still crazy match up
DONT BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU!
(oh btw the author didnt know how to draw universes so the galaxies are actually universes ;) )
Yup, I recalled this fact sometime after the video was uploaded, unfortunately. I made a pinned comment clarifying this. I would re-upload an edited version, but it’s very rare a small UA-camr has a video grow as quickly as this one.
i hope you got a chance to see the movie in theaters. it was beautiful
I have, it’s an experience I won’t forget. I made a video about my thoughts.
He's powerful enough that he probably graduated top of his class at Sonic Fighters Academy, he's more powerful than Two Galaxies at least.
Actual core anime right there
this is how I believe spiral power functions: spiral power itself is proportionate to opposing forces and obstacles, it scales up near equivalent energy and is dependent on the user to bridge the gap or surpass it but the growth is exponential. If a man fights a beast maybe he'll gain capability to defeat it with enough effort and intelligence but he couldn't fight anything stronger until he reaches that level. And in the world of Gurren lagann it seems to be best manifested and harnessed through some kind of vessel like a vehicle or mecha but at some point someone can become powerful enough to render those mute. Spiral Power is the ability to Overcome but not necessarily make up or manifest something like wishful thinking at least not until youre altering the laws of a universe itself. It's not a power that just grows with screaming or wishing or wanting something so much, not a power that is all powerful to begin with or strong, and it's not without cost, it can be just evolution which takes millions of years or something that in a moment needs to rise to usurp despair, pain and suffering.
i'd also like to point out that in many instances spiral power was used not just as brute force but as a spear to hit vital points to forces that seemed all imposing and nigh unimpeachable.
this is also why I think spiral power is better than abilities like the transformations in dragon ball where a character can just get stronger because they want or need to and try hard or long enough. in gurren lagann there is risk and there is immense loss, there are consequences, conditions and counters and even some strategy, not merely whos beam is stronger (yeah the giant drill off seems like that but we actually lost that fight until it was left to simon to try something different)
If there's a wall in your way you smash it down! If there isn't a path you make ones yourself!
Favorite scene in the show. I always get goosebumps or cry whenever Simon's speech pops up.
Blud went from "you see that ceiling? Break it."
To "YOU SEE THAT UNIVERSAL CEILING!? BREAK THE SH_T OUT OF IT!"
Amazing
I actually want to know. TY.
I don’t think you can just say that Simon is just as strong as his team ups, there’s a reason why it’s preferred Simon has a partner when piloting Gurren Laggan and why he needed help taking out the final boss
Simon the WHAT??
i can (maybe) scale 'em to low outer
Yeah I scaled him a bit too low, I think Hyperversal-Outerversal is the proper range. I was still getting used to the terminology when I made this video.
It's feaking Simon! How strong do you think he is?!
How strong
Hella
Nice video but i would scale him to hyperversal via transcending dimensions
Yeah I realize I scaled him too low after the fact
where did you find the clips at 14:50? I don't remember seeing them in the movies or show
They're from the Parallel Works, which originally were separate content to explain lore or alternate universes, but those clips were added to the beginning of the first movie, as they show Lordgenome's origin.

him vs mega comp goku (all cannon and fanamade versions of goku combined)
Considering the tendency for DB fans to over-estimate Goku's strength and/or create versions of him through fanfiction that are astronomically powerful (because they don't understand good powerscaling), that seems like you're trying to make Goku beat Simon. And honestly even then, I still don't think he does. Simon is one of those characters that, unless the opponent can rewrite fiction or simply choose to be infinity powerful, cannot be beaten. His entire purpose is to evolve beyond the challenge before him. I did a video about Simon vs Goku, and I think that summarizes it pretty well.
@@TheMKninja end of z goku is said to be the most powerful of all of toriyama works. that includes arale a gag character that tore their own manga page to show their firend. this manag page show an image of her tearing anothe rmanga page so she is outerversal. mega comp goku wasn't needed.
@@TheMKninja super sayain god goku was able to shape a 4d macrocosm when he was fighting beerus as his punches were able to shake the kaioshin relam. super sayain blue is 50 times that. also did we just forget that cc goku is scaling to people who rule over a infinite amount of timelines
@@TheMKninja also i just wanna see what could be his limit
Goku was already confirmed to not be stronger than Arale. So he wouldn't scale to outerversal. And a lot of the feats Goku is credited to having are usually spoken rather than shown. In both the manga and anime, he, at most, reached low complex multiversal. Alternate Gokus like Xeno or CC just feel like a bloated form of that. If you're asking to see Simon's limit, it doesn't exist. Goku's limit, unsure. Depends how long Toei wants to keep going with this franchise.
But would Simon win vs Yujiro Hanma in a fist fight?
Probably. Strong as he is, I don't think Yujiro hits as hard as the Anti-Spirals.
@@TheMKninja You forget about the time that Yujiro trained in the art of spiral power and managed to learn how to intergrate it into his fighting style.
Here's a question for you kids. How powerful is mozinger 0

Low ball
I know, I was still learning some of the terminology at the time. I corrected it in my ‘Why Simon Beats Goku’ video
As strong as the plot required
(I love Gurren Lagann don't hate me fams)
You're not fully wrong
I'm going to down vote this video and not watch a minute of it if you mispronounce his name. I promise you that.
Edit: Alright, you pronounced it right. I will upvote and watch your whole video. Good job.
Just know, no matter how strong he is in this universe, goku clears neg diff. Prove me wrong, imma clown you for it.
Considering Simon’s growth is genuinely infinite, whereas Goku’s isn’t and requires a specific condition, he will always be stronger. Hell, his growth can literally collapse the multiverse. Probability alteration completely counters UI, he has unlimited stamina so he can go on for longer (whereas Goku can’t), durability scales around the Omni King’s level if not higher (as he defeated a being similar to the Omni King and withstood the collapse of an entire universe without taking any damage as seen in the finale). Considering he outspeeds Gurren Lagann, which outspeeds Super TTGL, he’s massively FTL, so if he’s not faster than Goku, he’s the same speed. And considering he can summon both Lagann and Gurren Lagann at any given point, he’ll always outnumber Goku. Gurren Lagann has an energy shield to block energy based attacks, like ki, limiting Goku’s arsenal. I’m actually working on a script about the anime characters that beat Goku, because obnoxious Goku stans are among anime’s worst fans and need to be humbled. You can like the character, but stop acting like nobody can beat him.
@@TheMKninja bro is spittin better then i could
I know where Goku’s at in the manga, and anyone who rebuttals with Xeno Goku, Simon still wins. I don’t even like the Xeno Goku argument because he feels like fanfiction.
