    This might be head fanon, but I think people in MHA have evolved to become stronger and more durable to compensate for Quirks. That's why Aizawa, Stain and many other characters with no enhancement type quirks can do many feats that can be described as borderline super human in our standards. But everyone is so strong that quirks are still the best asset when in a fight.

      I went in more detail in my own comment but I'd day you're half right. I'd argue 'quirkless' people actually just have a hidden quirk of an extremely high and/or extremely growable Quirk Capacity or Qcap. Without a 'quirk' your Qcap maps to things like hysterical strength, making you able to do things through force of will that, strictly speaking, you shouldn't be able to. WITH a traditional quirk it enables you to use that quirk. This is why Deku got so much better so much faster; his Qcap was already high due to his Strength of Will, AND he was born "quirkless" meaning his Qcap was extremely malleable, AND he trained his ass off, undergoing training that anyone without his Strength of Will wouldn't undergo and anyone without his flexible & high Qcap would have their body break down trying to undergo. It'd also explain why the prior owners died young due to nebulous 'natural causes'; their Qcap was too low and, since they were GRANTED their powers instead of being born with and developing them naturally, their Qcap wasn't high enough to support them. All Might survived because he was 'quirkless' and so his Qcap was way more flexible & adaptive naturally. Deku however has even more Strength of Will than he did, so he's trained way harder and his Qcap is higher than even All Might's, hence why, despite his physical frame, he's now reliably about as-strong if not stronger than All Might.
      Since his Qcap is so high however, that also means he has insane 'quirkless' reflexive & hysterical strength, because Qcap naturally maps to those things anyway.
      Endeavour reinforces this, he *_constantly_* trains himself and those around him to get better, to an unhealthy degree. So, when his entire body is broken and aching and he should be dead, his insanely high Qcap gives him the endurance & hysterical strength to go full pheonix & use his own fire to propel his body into combat.
      Qcap is, broadly, "the ability to act beyond your means". That enables supernatural things like quirks, buuuut it'd also enable 'superhuman' things like hysterical strength or insanely fast reflexes. Being born 'quirkless' would actually just mean being born with a more flexible Qcap. (POTENTIALLY, the difference is that people's bodies naturally 'develop into' their quirks and get used to them, in fact this is hinted at when Yuga mentions his body isn't built for his Navel Laser. In this interpretation being born quirkless might not be a quirk in-and-of itself, but since your body developed *_without_* acclimating to a specific quirk it is more adaptive & flexible overall)
      In fact, this might even be why his body stopped breaking. It's not that his bones literally got harder, it's that his Qcap finally began to reach where it needed to be to handle OfA.
      Actually, this would even explain why All Might had his 'super strength'; he didn't. He literally is still Quirkless, he just inherited more 'power' from OfA and his Qcap was high enough to sustain it. He was just *_constantly_* acting on, basically, hysterical strength; raw Qcap. Thats why, in absence of a quirk, incomprehensible strength, speed, reflexes are seemingly the default.

    • @NotABotiPromise
      @NotABotiPromise 9 місяців тому

      @@felixjohnson3874 That's actually really interesting. I've never actually heard about "Quirk Capacities" before. Though it could actually explain a lot of things. Maybe the absence of a Quirk Factor just means that all other bodily functions (i.e adrenaline and your examples) usually attributed to a quirk is being spread throughout the Quirkless' body and therefore enhances them. But this is of course just my speculation.
      Where did you hear about QCaps? Is this a thing in canon? Or are there brilliant fanfics that have this?

  • @LordRaine

    MHA is a setting where the "Charles Atlas Superpower" trope is absolutely real. We see various heroes and villains perform physical feats that have NOTHING to do with their quirks, that would still qualify as superhuman. Which means any quirkless person could also do them. Stain took an absolutely unholy amount of physical punishment before going down, Nighteye was strong enough to embed a man twice his size into a concrete wall by throwing a weighted stamp at him, and Lady Nagant's marksmanship had nothing to do with her quirk and was completely natural.
    All that in mind, we have to assume that any quirkless who trained hard enough could eventually match Nighteye's strength, Stain's toughness, and Nagant's skill. And having all of those things in one person would make them extraordinarily dangerous. Izuku being intelligent and capable of picking his opponents apart would just be icing on the cake at that point.

      .

      .
      Ochako learned hand to hand combat,
      It's about everything else you do, plus using your quirk with those skills.
      .
      I brought up mirio cause he was physically fit and was able to survive without his quirk.
      .
      That's my real strong point

    • @LordRaine
      @LordRaine 8 місяців тому +92

      @@dandywaysofliving Mirio is actually a better example of this than you think, because while we don't know too much about him, we do know that everyone told him to not use his quirk, because it was too dangerous, and that he didn't seriously train with it or learn how to use it effectively until he interned with Nighteye.
      But consider the implications of that. That would mean that Miro took and PASSED the UA Entrance Exam functionally quirkless, made it into and KEPT his place in the hero course functionally quirkless, and then made it far enough into his first Sport's Festival for Nighteye to see him, notice him, and decide to mentor him. While functionally quirkless.
      Miro absolutely busted his ass to get where he is, and it probably explains why he was relatively unbothered about losing his power: he's used to fighting without it.
      But for the sake of the point, it proves that you don't need a quirk to be dangerous or strong in MHA. The power level of a dedicated and highly trained individual can be extremely high. Miro proves that, since he wasn't what we saw him as until after he had already made it into UA and placed high in his own Sport Festival.

    I feel like it's important to note that this is at the BEGINNING of the series because Deku has gone from barely using 5% to using nearly 50, that's like a 10x increase to basically everything, so yeah Quirkless Deku, even in season 6, is a monster.

    • @expireddoom
      @expireddoom 8 місяців тому +35

      Not how it works with OFA, it isn't a flat curve, 5 to 50% isn't a 10x, OFA has been active for too long and passed through too many hosts, 2 of which were quirkless allowing it to wake up in All Might, and actually stretch in Deku.

    • @LifeInJambles
      @LifeInJambles 8 місяців тому +48

      Yeah, I think that this video is even more conservative than intended, because a lot of this calculation happened before he got used to the added strain of progressively increasing levels of full cowling. Like sure, he's more constantly enhanced later... but the reason he couldn't use 100% right from the beginning was that his body wasn't strong or durable enough. If he's using more of his power, it means his body is capable of handling more of that power.
      Deku is WAY stronger than this video is considering without his quirk at this point. OFA basically acts to overclock his natural abilities, which means his natural abilities need to scale in order to keep up.
      Lil homie's a monster at this point, with or without his quirk.

    • @vormiam9242
      @vormiam9242 3 місяці тому

      I doubt adapting to using 50% increased ALL his physical abilities, so he probably only gained a little bit of base speed/strength from it, but he DEFINATELY has some insane endurance now. The problem with his quirk initially was that his body couldn't handle the recoil because OFA didn't seem to effect his durability, so when he adapt to being able to handle 50%, that means his body is 10x more durable than it was at the start. That doesn't necissarily equate to his other stats increasing, but his endurance and durability are so powerful now that they might as well be their own quirk. Even without his quirk he can probably still tank punches from most of the heavy hitters in the series.

Heck, I think it would've been cooler to show that Deku still believed in himself to the point of training his body along with his study of heroes, so he could try to prove that he could still be a hero. Only to have the same problem happen with the sludge villain, since that villain is a poor match for a physical fighter without All Might's level of power.
      This would result in the same kind of heartbreak where Deku falters, and kicks himself because despite everything, he ends up being worthless in the face of a villain. However, he still showed that heroic spirit despite being quirkless, so he still gets the affirmation from All Might, and if it's still in the story, receive OFA.

      However, about the first part, if everyone can reach that level of strength then no, not everyone can become a hero. This is because, a side from the nerves it takes for the job and the brutal training, if you were up against a foe who also trained there body but had a powerful quirk up their sleeve as well, you wouldn't be able to do anything aside from outwit them or wait for back up, and if there are several of them you're just screwed.

      @@turtle_demigod Technically, yeah. Practically though, most people just don't, and it can be assumed that's because they rely too much on their quirks. Like, most people that have been shown just don't really work on their body. Maybe that's because they're complacent with their quirks, but still.
      The main reason it would be "anyone can be a hero" not "everyone will be jacked" is because of the mindset going into it. Not everyone is desperate enough to be a hero or villain that they'd take themselves to extremes just to keep up with quirks.
      Pretty much, the world is the same, but the quirkless people who want to be strong enough to help others or make changes in the world can still obtain a level of power that matters.

    Well, Aizawa basically fights quirkless. His quirk does negate most quirks, which puts him on even standing most of the time, but it doesn't work on mutation quirks. He's still a pro regardless and during his career, how many mutation quirk bearers have likely been taken out? Really, Deku would just need Martial arts training to better utilize his physical strength. Not to mention the option of support tools. He's good to still be a quirkless hero.

There's a chance even lower end students like Hagakure and Ojiro can keep pace with him in a fist fight. There's plenty of other examples of superhuman physical prowess too. When Aizawa was fighting the villains at the USJ, he sent that rock villain flying with one punch. It was noted out loud that the guy had a mutation quirk, so he was built with all that extra strength and durability, yet Aizawa still overpowered him. Then later, during the licensing exams, Toga was able to move fast enough that Izuku couldn't see or react to her anymore, despite his "hypersonic reactions". And even beyond that, despite being faster than bullets, both Nighteye and Overhaul were able to dance around his shoot style attacks like they were nothing.
    Honestly, in hindsight, All Might was kinda right. A quirkless person may be able to become a hero, but not the kind of hero Midoriya wanted to be. Plus, you take a guy who has superhuman strength, and put him against another guy who has superhuman strength *and* superpowers on top of that strength, it seems fairly reasonable to assume the second guy has a big advantage. If he didn't become the successor of OFA, Midoriya's strategic mindset might have been better suited to forensics and training people to enhance their own abilities. That's basically the lesson Mike Wazowski had to learn in Monsters University, and the lesson Melissa Shield took to heart when she was young.

      I mean he cleared an entire race and got first place without using his quirk. He cleared a course faster than people with quirks without his quirk, Held his own against Bakugo with just his IQ and without a quirk in season 1. He just needed to lift and get some support gear and he was gonna be alright. Even characters in the show display superhuman level durability and strength when that was never a part of their quirk. There are literal suits made to combat characters like PRIME ALL FOR ONE.

    The calculation for the metal sheet Deku uses in the obstacle race in the sports festival is wrong.
    They’re saying that the plate would be about 10 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 3 inches thick. i.e. when he’s carrying it under his arm it would be as tall as he is, and when he’s lying down on it like a sled it would be twice his height. He also assumes it would be made of a denser type of steel.
    To me the plate looks like 2ft by 5ft and an inch thick. If it’s made of aluminum it would be 150 lbs, and if it’s made of steel, it’s still less than 500 pounds. I would definitely place my guess much closer to the low end.
