    The problem isn’t that Glocks aren’t what they use to be, the problem is that Glocks ARE what they use to be. Not much has changed or been improved with other modern advancements the industry has taken. They’ve been on top for so long they forgot what put them there, a revolutionary product pushing the market forward.

      92X RDO was great for me, but for duty use it had some really annoying rust issues due to the work sites I was guarding at the time (summertime in Arizona, so torrential downpours combined with moon dust on dry days). I stopped using it for duty because of that, and the mags I got with it weren't rust proofed either. I love it as a gun, it's a sexy piece and I'd never hesitate to carry it, but believe it or not, my 19X has served me better as a duty gun for maintenance reasons alone, and my DR920 War Poet has done even better for that purpose.

    The P320 probably has a high bore axis because they designed to be compatible with P250 parts. The P250 was a DA/SA hammer-fired gun released by Sig a few years before the P320 that also had a removable fire control unit. The P320 was really a conversion of the P250 and was also Sig's first ever striker-fired handgun. That it wasn't a total dumpster fire is actually impressive considering how many other companies have jumped into the handgun game and failed epically.

      And we have to remember that the 250 was intended to mostly retain holster compatibility with common duty lights, so it was tall by design to take after its 220/225 predecessors. I've long lamented that Sig didn't use the 365 as an opportunity to sunset the p320 and its legacy dna and start a new path with the smaller and by all accounts equally robust and reliable fire control group to build out both a duty gun line and a concealed carry line.

    • @socmonki
      @socmonki Рік тому +12

      @@EastCoastMan603 what coping? The 320 is a fine gun. A ton of people out there who have no reliability problems, no problems with them going off unintentionally (how come it's all cops? how come absolutely no one has been able to recreate the pistol going off without a trigger pull? drop safety was fixed years ago as well). I have 2, an m18 and a p320 x carry, and both have been reliable, accurate, soft shooting, and just all around awesome firearms. The bore axis argument is old, considering some of the guns a lot of people love (1911/2011, PDP) also have a high bore axis and don't get the hate. I don't know why HO has had so many problems with 320s, maybe the guns are sentient and knows he doesn't like them so refuse to run for him? doubt it.
      And it's not like I'm all Sig. He mentioned the APX A1 being a better pistol and yes, it is a fine gun (I own one). I shoot the 320 better though. The APX ergos just don't work for me. I think it's a very underrated pistol, with a great trigger, soft shooting, accurate. It just doesn't work with my hands. 320s do.

      Thanks for the comment! I'm relatively new to firearms (a few years), but I heard that they may have built the P320 largely off the DA/SA P250, which I heard also had an FCU. They certainly have invested heavily in the P320 and built a lot of variants, but given that Sig designed the P365 to have such a low bore access (comparatively), I'm hoping that they may bring out something new eventually. The Glock chassis thing from Defense Distributed is interesting, though. The emphasis is on DIY parts as much as possible with home manufacturing tech (3D printers, etc.). If that catches on, with participation from both indie parts designers and established businesses, it could be pretty cool. Assuming they can fix the grip angle and still use glock mags.

      The average person who buys a Glock, including military and law enforcement will never make a single modification, or aren't allowed to.
      I've seen at least 3 surveys/questionnaires that have indicated as many as 77% of all gun owners shoot less than 3 times a year. If the numbers are even close to being accurate, you can bet there are a lot of Glocks in that group, and those folks aren't tricking out their bedside/carry gun.

    +1 on Glock reliability issues. Three of us recently purchased CA Gen III Glock 19s. One of them is great, whilst two of them routinely threw brass in your face (the ejector seems too small or low, causing the brass to just slip over it and fling backwards). In both guns, we remedied this by just swapping in Gen V ejectors.

      @JamesSmullins Рік тому

      @@JamesSmullins While QC may very well have slipped at Glock, using that old ejector in the gen 3 is Glock doing California a MASSIVE favor... CA has a safe handgun roster, which is basically a list of grandfathered handguns that can be sold in the state. Getting a new handgun on the roster is basically impossible (newest micro stamping case notwithstanding). The problem is, to remain on the roster, the grandfathered firearm cannot change in ANY way, not even color or sights. ANY change, like a different extractor, would cause CA to consider it a different model, would fall off the roster, and then need to be re-certified, which, again, has been impossible since the 2010's due to the microstamping requirement. All of the HK USP models fell off the roster last year for exactly this reason: some minor part changed and CA decertified all of them: you can no longer purchase a new HK USP in the state.
      So while being critical of QC is fair, blaming Glock for keeping the Gen 3 the way it is is not a fair criticism: that is why the Gen 4 and 5 exist. Gen 3 is really only still made for CA specifically, and to continue selling it in CA, they cannot change it in any way.

      Yeah, it's obviously not generally the best carry gun, yet it was basically the only thing that passed Garand Thumb's mud test. They're more reliable than this guy gives them credit for. He probably doesn't maintain the damn thing properly to have it hanging up like that constantly, plus of course you go with 50AE if you're going to own a Desert Eagle. If your enemies are hiding behind cinder blocks, you might just prefer that hand canon.

Plenty of other firearms in the same category and function as well or better. Sig triggers are not that great and lately their Quality, especially in their coatings has been marginal at best. I have had most all variants of the 320 and I now have none.

    I've never been more disappointed w any family of firearms as I was with the P320. From base model to top of the line Legion series, they're outperformed by less expensive offerings. Its initial popularity was due entirely to "winning" the military trials. The secondary reason is the same as the Glock - aftermarket availability. Once purchased, the owner can try to change every part of the weapon to make it decent - but still fall horribly short compared to its peers.

    Hey Chris, love the channel.
    What improvements would you like to see in a gen 6 Glock that would make it more competitive in today's market?
    Personally, I would like to see:
    1. Serialized Fire Control Group
    2. Metal sights on all their guns
    3. Optic height sights on all MOS guns
    4. Single undercut on frame
    5. Possibly a little more aggressive texture on the frame.
    I still trust my life and that of my family to a Glock. But I would love to see them actually make some serious improvements to the gun.

    I’ve never had one malfunction or one issue with it. And i have all the original parts on it, the only thing ive added is an optic and a light but the internals are still from manufacture.
    I’ve also fired multiple styles of mixed rounds and brands, from fmj, hollow, flat nose, brass, steel, aluminum, led free, 50/115/124/147 grains, plus P, subsonic, supersonic, and almost every brand u can think of in the cheap and mid priced category.

    Good job, Chris, with your reviews! Your P320 review is spot on, except you didn't mention the 2 recent law suits against Sig with 65 pending! 2.3 and a recent 11 million dollar loss awarded to plaintiffs. The lack of a trigger safety probably is the cause for police p320s going off in holsters and shooting cops in the leg! You not wanting to get shot in the junk is spot on. You forgot to mention when you pull the trigger, the back of the p320 slide moves drastically! That in itself has to affect accuracy somewhat! I guess that movement is caused from rushed changes to make the handgun drop safe. I think the P320 will be completely redesigned at some point due to all the pending lawsuits. Why do you think the army added an external safety?
