Leave it to government to foul it all up. I saw those cars as a kid (along with the Marlboro Penskes, Team KOOL Green, Hollywood, Winston/No Bull), and never considered picking up a cigarette. I didn't even know (or care) that these were tobacco brands. Smoking rates were already declining, and haven't declined at any quicker rate in the last 20 years than in the 30 years prior. All the MSA did was gut motorsports funding.
I would love to see the ESPN2 simulcast of the 1995 Molson Indy Vancouver race where only onboard camera feeds were used! I would also love to see a high quality version of the 1998 Visionaire 500K!
Goddammit please do something about the spoilers in the thumbnails and descriptions of these old races. I can't understand how anyone would think they are a good idea.
These Champ cars sound better than what we currently have. I hope the new engine that is debuting in 2023 will sound something similar to these monsters.
I think their TV deal defected to the IRL too after 2002 leaving them to scramble for a TV deal in 2003 and again in 2004 (Though it did mean Road America was the first ever thing I watched in HD in 2003 because it wasn't originally on the colander, Mario Andretti himself got involved to get the race back, but by then Speed was contracted to show something else so it had to go on a HD only channel, which streamed it for free too. I know, a race in HD and live streamed in 2003, and despite 2003 internet speeds, it played nicely)
Brum Racing Not true, Champ Cars were on SPEED in 2002 already. It was deal that was done in 2001 because ESPN didn’t give them qualifying or pre-shows etc.
Life just hasn’t been the same since those Players cars left the scene.
'98 and '99 were my favourite Player's liveries. Some of the best in all of motorsport. RIP Greg
@@jonjones3958 RIP Greg
Those Players cars were so beautiful. But Indycar is on the rise again
Yep! Classic look! My favourite team. RIP Greg

The good ol days of Champ Car
Seeing Servia remain in the car while on the lift. Something you don't see anymore.
Doesn't feel like 16 years has gone by.

Wrong title : Real title should be : 2003 Champcar Grand Prix of Mid Ohio.
True! Honda had left CART in 2003. Plus, the Honda Indy 300 was renamed the Lexmark Indy 300 that year!
Did this race happen before, after, or during the IRL from Gateway, since both races were scheduled on the same day?
probably before the gateway race, tho wouldn't be surprised if it was during since this was on speed and the gateway race was on espn
If only the guys from F1 did stuff like this

I agree with you, but at this point, I don't really care to be honest. But it's still interesting to see how the race unfolds though.
that's why i just don't look at them.
@@SwineBrothers Well for me it's just plain impossible to not look at the thumbnail. Believe me, I have tried. You're right about the desc tho.
@@theflagstand true, the thumbnail is pretty unavoidable
I get you, but it is a 16 year old event
