NOKIE EDWARDS ( LEAD GUITARIST OF THE VENTURES).....THIS man is the reason i began playing guitar......and the reason i have been a professional guitarist for over 50 years! Rest in Peace Nokie!🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶
When I was 14, in 1963, I discovered the Ventures featuring Nokie Edwards and my musical career took on a whole new persona. He has been my musical inspiration my entire life. I respect his enormous talent much more than a simple post could ever say. R.I.P. Nokie. Maybe I'll get the chance to meet you on the other side.
"I got a woman" and 'I'll see you in my dreams' are the two most beautiful and melodious ventures music I've ever heard. They take one out of this world into a dream like state.
now thats guitar playing . so many times artist will play as fast and as loud as they can, which for what it is can impress other guitarist and listeners . however playing a song like these guys just did, mistakes are heard if there made which there were none. the tone was superb . silky smooth . simply perfection at its best . thankyou thom . i like your playing like this the best .
I saw Nokie this week on the Smith River in an Oregon outside concert. He is a delightful entertainer, and just as polished a musician as always. What a treat! Keep on rockin' Nokie, rumors of your death are greatly exaggerated. We;re still smilin'. LawyerChuck
What makes this version so special is the interaction between the two guitar masters and how effortless they play. The acoustic augmented by Nokie's precision runs is simply great and I've listened numerous times and I'm amazed how well they together.
Thank You so much, Thom. As the man before me said, just Superb. At first I thought it was too slow, but it works just right. I bet Merle's smiling. See you at Geekfest!
This seems to be one of my most played / viewed video tunes on UA-cam. And as I see the great Merle Travis' face all over them, it dawned on my during a re-run of the movie "From Here to Eternity". THAT's Merle Travis playing guitar...!
Yup. Thom has a video or two of them playing together. You should check them out. Especially a video with a rather lovely lady called Lane Brody playing a song called He Thinks I Still Care. Beautiful stuff.
When you’re playing like that effortlessly and not even breaking a sweat, you know these two guys are the real deal.
I miss them both. Both extremely kind and generous with their time.
