I am watching this, holding a Tele. It's the same Tele a friend of mine was playing this song with, one night in '94 when I met him (and played bass behind him). He's since passed, I have his guitar now, and this is just awesome and emotional to watch.
His melodic sense seriously blows me away. Every recording I hear of him is just filled to the brim with top notch lines even though it’s clear as day he’s improvising those lines. Such a great guitar player.
You could see Jim was unfamiliar with the start Tommy and Richard burst into - but he's primarily a jazz guy and his solo was sweet once he caught up with two talent monsters who partner on gigs often.
+koensieben622 The song is more or less in C major but it starts on the 4 then goes to a minor 4. There's also allot of secondary functions so you just kinda have to know the melody.
someone finally nailed it "Tommy is a rascal always smashing boundaries" yet keeping his friends close. What a charmer.
All three bring such different styles to their playing, but all of them bring joy. The joy is so clear in their performing.
Tommy is such a musical rascal. Always smashing boundaries.
Fabulous tune. Fabulously played.
I know it's 8 years later but it doesn't get much better than this. Timeless.
Now that's the best way to spend a Saturday night with friends!
Smiling from ear to ear the whole way through. Absolutely class.
there is magic in this and i dont care what anybody says
indeed ....
You should care as we completely agree 😀❤️
All are wonderful but Richard Smith is simply a Beast!
So good the old standards are hard to beat.
Jim’s solo is very clever…all the signs of classic phrasing and timing
With Tommy it's the sheer joy of playing!

Love that ending - classic..!
Hearing such mastery makes me want to pick up my guitar and not necessarily play it but just hold it -- AND DREAM !
wow! Great work!
Wow! I love this. One of my favorite guitar piece. I heard it from Chet Atkins way back then.
Chet is my absolute favorite - he did this with Mark Knopfler and I keep it on replay. ❤️
Jim has some great lines…well done boys!

If you want the real masterclass, watch Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins play it.
I swear to god these people can play an infinite number of amazing variations

El mejor,Jim Nichols. Los otros dos simplemente repiten la melodía adornandola con variaciones.
Wow!
wew Tommy Maton guitar tone is just insanely nice to hear eargasm
Wonderful !
Incredible....
Their fretboard mastery is just off-the-charts brilliant. And the groove is so in the pocket, I can’t help but tap my foot.
Fantastic!
Big Bosses 😎
Wonderful! I think each one of them is the best out there.
thank you thank you thank you.
Just inspiring!
And the final comment by Tommy, Baby’s Coming Home! A shout out to Jerry Reed - awesome!
yeah alright mate

Love that ending!!!!

I'd give my right arm to be able to do this.
But then you, oh, never mind.
Left your right arm behind
