I’ve been with you every step of the way. Sadly, I was planning my AT Thru Hike when I was involved in a head on collision. I was permanently disabled with a severe foot injury; and I’ll never get to do it. So thank you for letting me travel along vicariously through your journeys. It’s been a joy being a fan and a benefactor. Looking forward to what’s next.
Just finished watching at the end of the first day of 2021. Last year was hard. Lost my sister and best friend who had cancer to Covid. She and I grew up.back country hiking and camping as kids. Our gear was old and too big for our little frames but we loved it. I'll dedicate my thru hikes to my sister. ♥️

Then I flew to France to start walking the Camino de Santiago which started in France and I finished in Santiago de Compostela, Spain! Be open to what is and what is will come into your life :) :)
“I just wanna be outside”🤣 That mountain lion experience was pretty awesome. Photography being such a huge part of my life it worries me that I’ll want to stop and wait for good light at good spots instead of getting my miles in lol.
Dixie, what a spectacular hike. Thanks for taking all of these videos and sharing them with us. Be sure to share the love with Aaron (dude, heckuva trail to pick for your first through hike!) and of course, Perk. Those guys are true friends, troopers, and exactly the sort of HIKER TRASH that we are all better off to have in our lives. Y'all ROCK!
I enjoy seeing all the views when hiking but I would like to see more of them setting up camp. How to choose good spots, protect food and self from creatures, build fires, etc. Cannot stop watching these thru hikes. Man, I really want to be out there! Thanks for sharing Dixie. Love from Texas💖🌏☺
34:40 Can anyone tell me how to look for videos of people as a couple or community, buy and package, then mail food? How do i even start to search for that, This looks so real and I have never done it before, and I'd love some tips. People just showing what food to take before they leave for a hike or camping is helpful but a more vlog style I think I'd appreciate.
I did not know if I could watch the whole video but I did and I got to tell you you're one Brave little lady. I laughed, got scared hungry and cold. Above all you helped me think about some things in my life. Thank you and your friends for the journey.
as someone raised in CO, when you ran into the mountain lion I almost crapped my pants. I've only ever seen footprints in my backyard.... in school they taught us what to do when we ran into bears, deer, moose, etc. when they got to mountain lions they basically just said good luck.
Crazy. I think they are scary, but If you're loud and big they will leave. I probably would have screamed like a maniac at it to go away. I'm more scared when I can't see them, because then they might be stalking me.
Omg tears of joy for you! YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO BECOME A TRIPLE CROWNER. I’m starting with the AT in the beginning of 2021. I’ve already been saving for equipment and buying a piece every month. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. ✨ Be the light you were born to be ✨-K

Wow, I have been hiking for 45 years and never came that close to a mountain lion (that I could see). You were really fortunate to have that encounter with a mountain lion, although it may have been scary at the time.
Absolutely an amazing journey! I loved watching you on the AT, I was white-knuckled on PCT, dumbstruck on CDT by your courage and tenacity! Hopefully, you will realize how much impact you’ve had on people who are just beginning to find their adventurous side. Loved every minute of it! Can’t wait for more! Aaron is a rockstar! Who does that trail out of the gate! Your insight and personality and his editing (and apparent tenacity too!) , is a winning combination.

What a fantastic documentary not only of the CDT trail but of perseverance and the power of the will. Thank you for the sharing and congrats on the achievement. Regarding the filming and editing it’s fantastic.
I just finished watching this..it’s 11:39pm on May 20th here right now in Md...I’ve watched a lot of thru hiking videos over the past few months but nothing that compares to this. I felt like I was with you...the beauty at points took my breath away even sitting on my couch streaming this to my 65” tv. I paused the video several times just to enjoy the beauty. You are truly an Amazing woman!! I’m a grown man and I have to admit I teared up at the end when completed your Triple Crown!!! Thank you so much for taking us all along on this Adventure. Now I have to go back and watch all your other videos because this one just started playing after another video I was watching... Thanks again...I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you next!! Don’t let that “Mummy” Ever catch up!!
Dixie im so glad that i found you 3 years ago .i was at a very low point in my lifehaving just had valve replacement surgery .you have grown so much during the triple crown, your mama must be really proud!
I have just loved watching your videos. As a woman beginner hiker, I hear a lot of “you shoulds” and “you can’t”. I love to hear your encouragement of YOU CAN! What a victory you celebrated in Canada! Awesome job!
Awe! I’ve watched all three of your Triple Crown thru-hikes, in order, and when you touched the northern terminus of the CDT, in Canada,I started crying with you. I lived vicariously through you, the whole time, sometimes cheering you on, sometimes arguing with the trail, animals, and weather conditions, but I was along with ya, the entire ride. Thank you. I’ve thought about hiking the AT for a few years, and I’ve decided to start thru-hiking because of you. I’ve finally gotten to a place in my life where I like myself and have no more regrets about life, so I’m psychologically ready to accept, and take responsibility for, anything that happens on the trail. Thank you, you’ve given me the courage to do it. ❤
Your trip is very inspiring! I've always wanted to do the CDT and never made the time. I'm months away from retirement and you've convince me to make the trek.
Seen this before, but I'm sitting here this morning drinking my coffee just loving rewatching this. Thru-hiking a shorter trail next month but I'm so excited!
the shot of your legs shaking after Grays Peak was priceless 1:14:23, anyone who has done their share of climbing knows that feeling...great story telling ;)
That was so inspirational. Cannot believe I watched the whole thing in one sitting. It was beautiful, relaxing, and made such a connection to nature for the viewer. Well done! Congratulations! Will be looking up your other Thru-hikes.
This is 10 times better than any National Geographic . What a scenery and what a determination, what a girl..... Love your positive attitude and your take on life. Take care and thanks for posting.....

Slice some lemon stuff it in the water gargle spit out when you have dry mouth. Wow incredible mountain view thanks for sharing your video. Hiking trails here in the states stretch for miles. Am from a small island hiking trails would not take five days to finish.
I went on my first solo backpacking trip last April, and I remember thinking how cool it was to be out backpacking by myself at the same time as you were hiking the CDT. And now, I'm starting the PCT on April 6th! Might be a long shot, but I would seriously die of happiness if I bumped into you and your mama out on the trail :)
I can’t begin to describe how proud I am of you for completing not only the CDT but the triple crown. You have enough will and determination for any three people. I had tears in my eyes when you reached Canada. As you stated, it was bittersweet. May God protect you on all your future adventures.
I am watching you! I am encouraged by and learning from you and for that, thank you! My life, is deeply lacking the adventure I crave…. Being the father of two minor children and experiencing the shared custody of them, I fought so hard for… my deeper adventure has to be postponed for the time being. I enjoyed this video. Good luck to you, congratulations and may your adventure continue.

Congratulations to you, Aaron and Perk for this amazing accomplishment! Kudos for a job well done. What an adventure. Your filming prowess was incredible.
Wow, that is one strong girl. I admire your determination and courage. Several dangerous parts, hair standing on end at 1:19:21, moose so close, bears, snow in Glacier Park. You did a great job of filming, editing. Even carried a drone. Best parts are Colorado and Wind River Mtns in Wyoming. Many places in video did not even have a trail. Lots of mountain goats in Colorado. You should be very proud of yourself. You will have this video and the memories forever. Life is not things but experiences. Thanks for sharing this great adventure.
I know the toaster house well. I was a firefighter there for a few years. I met a few hikers over the years and have some great memories of that place.
O.M.G!!!!!! Wow, just wow. There should be some kind of award for this! This is an amazing documentary. I was holding my breath during the trek across the scree and the snow! My knees would be weak when the camera panned down the slope. The moose encounter was spectacular. I felt like I was there for every step. Congratulations on your Triple Crown!

Those are wolf tracks that you are coming across. The wolves there are the smaller Mexican or prairie wolf. The bigger wolf is the Canadian gray. Or what we call the timber wolf. They will be in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.
@@ScottyDMcom a no, Lewis and Clark noted that there was a difference between the prairie wolf and the coyote. My Grandfather protected his sheep from wolves in central Idaho back in the 1920's. Excellent documentary on all three Big Ones! Thank you for allowing us to hear the sounds of the wind, of streams, of birds, of the crunch of the trail and not covering it up with continuous music. You were very judicious with your inclusion of music and I VERY much appreciate it. Congratulations 🍾
I was in Yellowstone last week, I meet a guy in a remote area picnic area, I stop there to take rest and take lunch with family, I say hi to the guy, he was resting cleaning his stuff, invited for lunch, and is where I learn about this trail, the continental divide trail, since there I was interested to know about it, watching videos in UA-cam, and I found this video ( your video) and at the moment i star watching I can’t stop!!!! It's 3 months later and now I'm 418 and walking 3 miles a day, 5 days of the week and i get a mile and a half walk in on the off days. So to me these guys are my heroes because they showed me how rewarding it can be when you just get out there and do the damn thing.
@@MrUltralight55 @Fred Wells @mrultralight55 is making a reference to the U.S. Military. though frankly they sleep in pretty nice F.O.B. bunkers and barely ever bivvy, also they don't hike they drive. So the semantics of his argument is weak as well as the sentiment as the fact that someone can be someone's personal hero without being automatically compared to the U.S. Military. His subtextual argument that Robert Blalock is disrespecting the troops by his statement that Dixie is his hero is frankly just stupid.
I teach, I have had kids say i'm their hero.
I had my life saved by an EMT once, he is my hero.
Our troops live life in a hostile warzone, or provide back up and labor after a natural disaster, or keep illegal weapons and drugs from entering our borders, they are our country's heroes.
I just can't stand the bullshit, let's start a fight so I can show how much I love America, and freedom, and eagles and shit.
If you have received or retained a fifth grade education, you got the Context of Blalock's statement. "But the Troops...." just seems weirdly out of context.
Mr. ultralight is automatically stating that:
The teacher who talked a kid out of suicide that weekend isn't anyone's hero.
The Paramedics that save lives aren't heroes
The Basketball coach that inspires a kid to go to college isn't a hero.
A Step parent who comes in and deals with all the baggage and loves a child as if they weren't their own isn't a hero.
Heroes are people who make a difference whether it's to one person or a million.
YOU choose what defines you, hike your own path with a smile! Best of luck!
BvS thank you 😊
Similar thing happened to me I would love to take a hike. No one really knows till it happens to them .Best wishes I hope you get better.
nautiquecowboy nautiquecowboy Much Thanks! Blessings to you!
WeBHeelin maybe go and do some trail magic and still be a part of the trail
Anyone else coming back for a marathon of all her thru-hike documentaries?
She's got me getting ready to do the AT in 2023. Watched them all and I think out of the three I can do the AT. I'll be 61
@@annebarch7751 That’s cool! Good luck!!👍
@@hihi-lu4mh thanks
@@annebarch7751are you hiking it now? We need an update!
I'm so sorry for your loss!
Most people choose either fight...or flight, when encountering an apex predator: Dixie plays the harmonica. Girl, you are cool as a cucumber!
half a harir from death. that cat was contemplating, like your house cat when there not sure exactly what there thinkin............it was thinkin fight or flight. they dont turn because they measure by there selves. they attack when u turn. or from behind. it wasent hungry and didnt want to show its tail. but didnt feel threatened enough. what did dix say holy guacamole yaw. sums it up.
I'm brave as hell about a lot of things, but that cat would have definitely given me a code brown, staring at me like that lol
Dixie is one of the coolest chicks I know of 😎
Watching this in March 2020, in lockdown in the UK due to Corona virus. Trails closed, watching this to keep sane while unable to go walking...
@Jack Obrein Shut up, idiot.
I’m watching this in Doha Qatar, where it’s 47c outside. Keeping me sane and I’ve been in my apartment since March. It’s July now.
It must suck to live under that kind of tyranny. Move to the US, you'd likely love it.
@Jack Obrein Thank you for being woke my friend 👊.
No one EVER stopped us walking in NSW, U.K sounds like the peoples republic of Victoria with Dear Leader Dan.
I watched this two years ago, I still remember the joy I felt back then, watching it again is just as great.
This is incredible. Netflix doc worthy. Love the cinematography & music & everything!!! & the emotion at the end 😭😭😭Can’t wait to watch the rest of the docs💕💕💕
They should make a movie about this here wonder woman. My dream, living the outdoor life, I just haven’t had the guts to let go. Maybe when my kids grow up.
I’ve been watching Dixie’s vids for days. Keep ‘em coming 👍
@@martintrj5620 Don't Wait!!! Even if you go for a week or two! I learned the hard way and when I got my life back (but also took early retirement through a Corp Package)...but I packed it all up and put into storage, then traveled the US Highways that took me to the entire West Coast, East Coast, Southern Fla and Key West, over to Naples on Gulf Side of Fla and then to South Padre Island in South Texas;;;;All The Ocean Fronts and Beaches. Then I traveled to UK to visit my son and his family and also Coach for a week at a Youth Leadership Bootcamp. Then I flew to France to start walking the Camino de Santiago which started in France and I finished in Santiago de Compostela, Spain! Be open to what is and what is will come into your life :) :)
“I just wanna be outside”🤣
That mountain lion experience was pretty awesome. Photography being such a huge part of my life it worries me that I’ll want to stop and wait for good light at good spots instead of getting my miles in lol.
I vicariously hiked the entire CDT in 2 hours and 25 minutes. Thanks for sharing your amazing journey.
Y'all ROCK!
Me: Wow over 2 hours what a long documentary
Also Me: oh yeah ... Dixie hiked for like HALF A YEAR
Love your last name😆
I enjoy seeing all the views when hiking but I would like to see more of them setting up camp. How to choose good spots, protect food and self from creatures, build fires, etc. Cannot stop watching these thru hikes. Man, I really want to be out there! Thanks for sharing Dixie. Love from Texas💖🌏☺
She does have so many information videos. Have you checked those. These are meant to be more of a chronicle of her journey.
If you watch the playlist it has more of those details. This is the condensed version
Thomas Droher Thank you, Thomas! I appreciate your feedback & you watching .
My wife and I will never forget you blowing you harmonica as you met that mountan lion on the trail. Music soothes the savage beast!
Most likely
as someone raised in CO, when you ran into the mountain lion I almost crapped my pants.
Glock 26 comes in real handy right there. All states allow you to carry while doing sports like this. It’s extra weight though.
Cool
Omg tears of joy for you! YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO BECOME A TRIPLE CROWNER. I’m starting with the AT in the beginning of 2021. I’ve already been saving for equipment and buying a piece every month. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. ✨ Be the light you were born to be ✨-K
DownTh RabitHole saving for the cdt next spring. Can’t thru hike it but I can do it in sections over 2 years or so.
Hike at least a hundred miles on a trail before you say you're going to become a triple crowner
Im planning the AT 3/2021 hopefully we open up our country by then.
I'll be doing the AT starting March 15 2021. Can't wait .
@@jamesbooker9411 no need to be negative. Dixie's first thru-hike was the AT.
Thru hiking is a true blessing of being alive during this time on Earth. Thanks for taking us with you.
Starting the CDT at the tender age of 69 next spring (2024). This video is certainly my inspiration!
1:19:30 was giving me a heart attack, when hair stands up and static that means electricity is running through the ground for lighting withing 1,000 feet of your location!!!
Wow, I have been hiking for 45 years and never came that close to a mountain lion (that I could see). You were really fortunate to have that encounter with a mountain lion, although it may have been scary at the time.
I’m sure it got her pulse racing !
This was SO EXCITING to watch!!! I am 64 and love camping, love hiking, love the outdoors, love wildlife.....I MISSED MY CALLING!!! Thanks for allowing me to live vicariously through your journey. EXCELLENT FOOTAGE.
Go on with your self, Kathlene!! This stranger & fellow beginner is rooting for you (us) every step of the way!!
The trilogy; as in the Return of the King, or in your case, "Return of the Queen!" Your hiking adventures have truly been amazing!
This is one of the most epic things I’ve ever seen. Girl, you’re amazing. I hope my girls grow up to be as brave as you :).
Guess i'll just say it again... "Tough as Nails." Aaron and Perk, you guys rock! Thank you for taking us with you. :)
Let's just go ahead and say it.
Dixie your inspirational!
I hope these videos earn you enough to hike whenever and wherever you like.
the shot of your legs shaking after Grays Peak was priceless 1:14:23, anyone who has done their share of climbing knows that feeling...great story telling ;)
40:46 I need this on a T Shirt "Homemade Wanderlust" on the front and "Whatever. The devil's comin'." on the back
A saying we have here in Colorado for the weather is: 5 minutes or 5 miles. The wearer changes so frequently every day, especially during the summer

Happy New Year and Happy Trails!
Excellent movie. Congratulations to you and Aaron for both the “hike” and giving us a chance to experience the hike through your eyes.
Thank you. I’m planning my first hike on the AT first I’m going to be stationed in SAsebo, Japan where I will start my training. I retire in 6 years at 47. You have been a huge inspiration to myself and everyone who watched it. Everyday is a new adventure.
Popcorn, er ... Salt & Vinegar Kettle Chips by the TV chair. Ready to watch!
You saw a lot of wildlife! I was most nervous for you when you came across the mooses! Loved watching your adventure!
Outstanding!!!! So awe inspiring it brought tears to my eyes, at 65 i'll never have my dream come true but I saw it through your eyes and I thank you so very much.
You’re only 65!!!! You can still do this!
Congratulations on your Triple Crown!
way to go Dixie Girl, im 51 a grandmother of 5 and i have loved watching u on your journey its just been so great, congratulations on your triple crown.
Even though I watched the whole trip every Wednesday night, the editing on this documentary was sooo good, it was treat to see again. Thank You!
1:43:06 "God bless a milk cow!" LOL 🤣God bless you, girl, you brought back so many good (and crazy scary) memories of my days backpacking in the Canadian Rockies, sometimes alone, too. There's just no feeling like it, eh? What a great story!❤
Wow! I can't believe all the different Wildlife you've seen in Colorado!! And what a beautiful state!❤
Dang Dixie, I am rewatching this and once again so blown away by how tough you are, and what a great attitude you have throughout. You are one cool, inspiring woman. And major props to Aaron for sticking out all that craziness and finishing!!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful adventures with us and putting up so much useful info for aspiring hikers like myself ☺️
Just now watching this last video kinda late but I have watched all the others and your videos are the only 2hr videos I have ever watched the entire way thru...lol. Great Editing Aaron! amazing music!
Liquid sunshine. The eternal optimist. Great attitude ;-). Watching this while Corona crisis is almost over.
Yeah... about that...
Reading this comment in late August like.... yeahhhhhhhh if only..... :(
I absolutely don't know when I've watched anything and had so much fun. It was truly like being with you guys every step. What a privilege it was to watch this documentary. I am so very proud to share this planet with y'all.
Kudos to the young lady from Opelika Alabama!
Thank you for letting me share your experience vicariously. The love of hiking came to me late in life so my accomplishments have been modest. I do share the feelings you had at the Canadian border. Tears of emotion gratitude, humility. Thanks.
So sad this was the last one - I've enjoyed watching SO much but so happy for you!!
If you're subscribed you'll already know, but just in case you aren't, Dixie and her sister Montana hiked the Camino in Spain/France this autumn. It's on her channel :)
I thought it'd be a shame if you weren't aware and noone told you.
Happy holidays.
"You Pack Your fears!" Im keeping that one. Next time i try to make pack smaller Im just going to ask what the Hell am i afraid of? Great Video
Those are wolf tracks that you are coming across. The wolves there are the smaller Mexican or prairie wolf.
The bigger wolf is the Canadian gray. Or what we call the timber wolf. They will be in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.
What they call the "prairie wolf" in Montana is actually a coyote.
@@ScottyDMcom a no, Lewis and Clark noted that there was a difference between the prairie wolf and the coyote.
My Grandfather protected his sheep from wolves in central Idaho back in the 1920's. He noted there was a big difference between the two different wolves also. He said that the timber wolf was way more aggressive
Omg! A great production!!! Beautiful adventure!!! I ended to watch the video at midnight!!! I really appreciate the work you put to this video. Glad you finished all safe . I will be checking more of your channel. Thanks again, greetings from Kansas City.
I literally can watch this over and over. I cry every time with Jess at the end. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great journey, wise moves, and a lovely, poetic life experience. Loved it. Thank you Dixie girl!

Hi from Belgium Dixie! I followed you during you PCT and CDT and I loved it! Congrats for this marvelous movie you guys built!
Even though I’ve watched all the vlogs for the cdt I’m ready to see how the movie turns out!
Movie was fantastic as usual! Dixie you’re my idol!
I've had such terrible cabin fever this January (2022). I'm on my own hike, not physical, but with something I've been working on for a long time and I have been burned out in every way possible. This helped get me out of the blues, and to get moving again. Thanks, Dixie.
You are a true inspiration! And a hero to a lot of us, who making those trails will only remain a dream! God bless you!
Inspirational. Loved seeing the three of you finish together. I also loved hearing your stories and perspectives. Congratulations 🎊🎉🎈
You guys all have really cool spirits! ❤️💪✌🏻 I hope to one day do a nice long thru- hike. I lost my oldest brother very tragically in 2018, we just had the one year anniversary. I miss him more than I could ever explain. I want to go out in nature and hike to aid in my grieving process. It’s very special to appreciate Mother Nature for exactly how she is. And learn to love yourself for exactly who you are. At each moment...
get out there, great therapy after sad times,

Dixie, You are simply amazing! Thanks for sharing all of your adventures with us and for being such an inspiration as we all embark on our own. You are a gift. God Bless you.
Hey so I really liked the moment where you pulled out your harmonica on the cougar. I would just like to say in the event of a next time keep playin. Music soothes the savage beast. A pack of wolves up in Montana once let me pass , while I was sided out on a freight train, it was dark and all I had was my harp played for roughly 7-10min till the train released brake and started rollin all the while 5 wolves lay before me 20yds off wagging their tails.
I realize you will probably not read this, as it is a bit late, but I was almost crying with you at the end. Thank you for the wonderful photographs and for taking me with you on this adventure.
