Apparently Moo Deng means “Bouncy Pork” in English which is a chewy pork dish.
She also has half-sisters named Moo Tun and Moo Wan which translate to “stewed pork” and “sweet pork” respectively.
Whoever named these little fellas needs a raise.
Actually, the community named them. They put out a poll on what the baby pygmy hippo should be named. It's how Moo Wan got his name.

another note on the words, Moo Deng (หมูเด้ง) is generally more of ingredient rather than standalone dish. it uses as either wonton filling or as a topping for noodles
Moo Tun (หมูตุ๋น) is bascially pork stew in chinese five spice.

This isn't the first time a pygmy hippo from the same Thai Zoo got internet meme fame. While Moo Deng certainly is the most famous, Moo Wan (meaning Sweet Pork) is known for that one image of a tiny hippo trying to bite a leg.

So we went from Sweet Pork to Bouncing Pork. Coincidence? I think not!
The image of a tiny hippo monching on a leg is actually Moo Toun (Braised Pork), her older brother.
Moo Wan's fame is one clip of her as a baby bathing calmly with her signature bright pink chin, and her ability to open enclosure doors.

I remember that hippo. It mainly got famous for surviving complications at birth which forced the zookeepers to get hands on with the baby hippo resulting in some great footage. Fiona is a common hippo though which get up to 4-5 times bigger than pygmy hippo's.

I feel like I've seen this cute pygmy hippo before. And yeah, she's adorable! I really hope she stays safe because if she isn't properly protected, things could go wrong quickly. The zookeepers need to be careful with that sort of stuff. May she continue to be cared for by people she trusts to keep her safe.
