I bought the same excavator about a week ago and didn't think much about getting it on the trailer, then I saw you almost go over backwards. I have to tell you it took me a long time to get the unit off the trailer. I since then have added fan to help cool the engine compartment. After watching this video I am going to spend some time checking the bolts. Nice videos so I'm a new subscriber.
Welcome to the channel. These things are a lot of fun, and they save a lot of wear and tear on our backs. Having learned how easily they tip, it's a lot easier to stay safe.
Just got mine yesterday (AGT L12R too)...been going crazy watching videos and checking out accessories! Can you throw a link up for that cross bar that you mentioned (maybe the one with the sheet metal)? I'd like to take a look at that too. Thanks! (I'm subscribed)
Here is a link to the FB group post I referenced, where a guy made a nice drive motor protector. You may need to join that FB group before the link will work. I dont know if there are lock washers under the nut, but if there isnt you should get some or/and nylock nuts. If you do that they wont come loose so easy by vibrations.
I have lock washers on the way. Gave up trying to find them locally and ordered a set. This unit didn't even have the nuts on the tensioners when I bought it, new.
For your convenience, here is an Amazon affiliate link to the specific 36mm wrench I use. amzn.to/3X2Kea5 Also, see 2:54 in the video, and the wrench size and link are given in the description below the video. Thanks for watching!
No, it does not. I noticed in the auction listing that it was not the B&S engine, and since bringing it home, I have been unable to find any markings at all to identify the brand of engine. Some have said that the R on the model number, LH12R, indicates it is a Rato engine. I don't know if that is true.
@denslod2930 The plate has the excavator model number and serial number but no mention of the engine. Others have said that for AGT models, the R in the LH12R designates a Rato engine. I have found no way to confirm that, but it does seem to hold true for the models I have personally inspected at auction yards.
@@thePFOchannel I think you're right. the "R" stands for RATO, and most likely the 15hp version. If you really dig deep into the actual manufacturer of RATO, Briggs, Predator, etc. they all seem to be affiliated at the source.
No need to fire it up to lower it, which is why it's scary that you work on it while its not on stands. To each their own, however it's a dangerous habit to be teaching new equipment operators who don't know as well as you do.

Glad you were able to make those adjustments quickly! Throwing a track out in the woods would have been a bummer.
Yeah. That will be a bummer if that happens. Hopefully, I can avoid it by keeping a close eye on the tension.
Great DIY share on these maintenance observations 😎👍
Thanks!
Great thing about washing and spot checks to catch these points...tkz
Yes. I don't think these units would tolerate deferred maintenance very well.
Awesome job friend, I have decided to buy this same model!
Cool! Have fun and stay safe.

Looks like a pretty easy adjustment once you have the right tools...
Yes, the right tools make the difference.

check the covers and such for the rotation gear box.
Yes, indeed. Many people have mentioned finding those loose.
What size wrench for the jamb nut?

When you adjust tracks you measure the slack at the bottom it should be about an inch or 2 fingers
Thanks for the information.
Does yours have the Briggs and Stratton?
No, it does not. I noticed in the auction listing that it was not the B&S engine, and since bringing it home, I have been unable to find any markings at all to identify the brand of engine. Some have said that the R on the model number, LH12R, indicates it is a Rato engine. I don't know if that is true.
Look for a plate with engine and serial number, back of seat or some where.

They put the shrink tube to far on the terminals.
Then it’s underneath when tightened.
That's one I haven't heard yet.
On the big nut for the tracks just my opinion put a locking washer on and not worry about track coming lose and coming off.
Yes, lock washers would probably be another good thing to add. It didn't even have the nuts when I bought it new.
You will also start hearing a clicking sound before it comes off
That sounds like the voice of experience! If I am very lucky, I will never have to hear that particular clicking.
No need to fire it up to lower it, which is why it's scary that you work on it while its not on stands. To each their own, however it's a dangerous habit to be teaching new equipment operators who don't know as well as you do.
Thank you for that insight.
Blue Loctite every bolt you find loose eventually you will get them all
Good idea. Thanks
