The misconception about baby Ashnod is that she's an aristocrat deck when she's really a ramp deck -- with the additional wrinkle that you must provide one creature per turn to be turned into a battery. You only ever need to provide one creature per turn to be sacrificed. Any more creatures beyond that and Ashnod just doesn't care. Most players according to EDHrec provide their Duracell fodder through recursive bodies like Reassembling Skeleton and Jadar, Ghoul Caller. However, I think there is a better and more fun creatures to sacrifice. Since you only need one creature per turn the best creatures to sacrifice are cards that provide a body combined with a good EtB/LtB effect. For example, the new Case of the Stashed Skeleton provides a skeleton to sacrifice, which solves the case, and gives you a powerstone with a Demonic Tudor (which can be paid for with the powerstone). Solemn Simulacrum is the poster boy for this deck, capable of being ramped out by turn three with your turn two powerstone and providing an additional powerstone, a swamp, and a cantrip. A fun choice is Eriette's Tempting Apple which is artifact that can steal your opponents creature (an effect black doesn't usually get) then sacrifice it to Ashnod.
I absolutely love seeing an Ashnod deck in action, I loved playing her myself and there are fun things to do with her. My favorite to do with her after ramping a lot is equipping her with both Thieves Tools and Bronze Cudgels, the former allows her to swing and not be blocked, the latter can be used post-block, before damage to pump her up to lethal commander damage with all the power stones you generated with her =3
Just a heads up as a follow Hama Pashar player: you have to follow the order of the arrows printed in the dungeon csrds, so sadly you cant Scry and then deal damage with the trap room. This was pointed out to me by an opponent who thought I was going to draw myself out before killing everyone with the Trap! room, but as we know we can deal more than enough damage to take out everyone by speedrunning through the Undercity.
I love dungeon/initiative crawling as well. I use Brago as my commander and just filled the deck with dungeon/initiative cards and some turns can get wild with all the flickering. Get Panharmonicon, Elesh Norn Mother of Machines and/or Strionic resonator out and you start flying through. I want that new card from Murders at Karlov Manor that doubles etbs from creatures with power 2 or less to further the value I get from flickering things!
@@abyss_trinity0014 I actually had to downgrade mine after building it lol. Making people skip their next 2-4 combat steps was brutal and bouncing everything they owned back to their hands was too much. Now I just sit back while everyone smacks eachother and before they know it I have an infinite loop through the undercity hitting people for 5 each time.
@andrewsutherland1909 my deck sits at around 500$. I have the main combos in there along with stonehorn dignitary and I just found out that it stacks which is wild.
I've been tinkering with dungeon/initiative for a while now, and I'm currently settling for Rilsa Rael. Having initiative in the command zone makes it so much more reliable.
I've played them all, and I can say Rilsa is the most reliable. Sefris can use most of the cards, but Rilsa can take the game away using mostly budget cards. Easy infect kills, also!
I've recently built a Hama Pashar deck as well and I'm surprised how much fun it's been! You haven't lived until you've ventured into the dungeon 10 times in one turn. I know you linked the one you based yours on in a previous vid but I'm curious if you ever typed up yours? Either way, thanks for the vid!
I have a Sefris deck that has Hama Pashar and Dungeon Delver, getting 3 triggers per room is crazy and you can get so much value plowing through dungeons
After seeing the Hama Pashar deck for the second time now, I REALLY want to make her as she just seems like a blast to play and always keeps you in the match no matter what. I love interesting commanders like her so I'll definitely at least try and make her. Thank you Muddstah!
Having built Hama Pashar as well, would 10/10 recommend "Turbo Annihilation", and just cycle through Tomb of Annihilation as much as possible to group slug the table down. Very weird/entertaining coming from an Azorius weenie deck. Can also swap it up to another dungeon pretty easily, if you need to get out of the danger zone.
@@MTGMuddstah sweet, no rush intended. Thanks alot for replying so quickly. Me and my boy watch all your episodes together. He didn't think you'd respond with how busy you are. Seriously love the channel sir.
My most recent mad-scientist creation is an Initiative deck! Atraxa, Grand Unifier+Umori, the Collector Initiative Clones. It folds hard to Torpor Orb but boy is it a fun deck to play. Initiative’s broken in 1v1, I’m trying to break it in Commander!
I love dungeons/initiative with my Sefris deck, really fun and definitely a good deck if you want to be able do “hold I got some stuff to resolve” a lot
For just speed running that’s a fine argument, always having access to the extra room trigger is nice. But of course Sefris is also a reanimator commander not just a dungeon one
Couldn't help but notice that there are an awful lot of Islands in that Scarab God deck for the number of blue spells. I would also look at cutting that Sapphire Medallion.
Was there some kinda errata that's been implemented that I don't know about (maybe just a house rule)? Every time I see zombie tokens that are supposed to come in tapped, Dread Summons, Diregraf Colossus, Tormod etc., they always ETB untapped. I feel like I missed something, I play all those cards and my zombies always come in tapped when the card says so, but rarely I see that happen on these online vids.
**Spoiler** Turn 7 Displacer beast is played moving to the 3rd room, then turn 8 ephemirate happens and you finish the dungeon, but then finish the dungeon AGAIN with the rebound turn 9 which allows you to go into the undercity with the white plume when you couldn't 😅(love ny Hama deck so seeing her in action here is a blast! Those triggers are no joke)

Heheh. "Ashnod doesn't care."
Having a core of recursive creatures doesn't hurt anyways. 😊

As a fellow brago player, elesh born is sick lol. Doubling etb's like venser or agent of treachery is funny lol

Love arca's ashnod deck
Ashnod is a super cool deck in general. Love playing her.

Things get really crazy if you get two or more copies of her on the field, or her + Dungeon Delver.

I need to see this Hama Pashar deck! I know it was based on your friend's list but that list is not being maintained.
My friend plays a Hama Pashar Initiative deck where he solitaires by getting multiple venture effects into play. Many people underestimate her value.
Mind sharing your hama list Mudd? 3rd or 4th time ive seen your deck played and im intrigued to build it. Love your channel.
I will try to get a list together for today.

It's called "not reading the card".
@DarkEinherjar that's what I figured originally, but it just happens SO MUCH, I thought everyone knew something I didn't.
got a copy of the hama pashar list? 👀
Wasn't muddstah supposed to copy the cloud blazer 4 times since the glasspool was a copy of the adventurer? Or did I miss something?
I missed it. My brain was fried from all of the dungeon triggers haha.
@@MTGMuddstah I have a Burakos / Dungeon Delver deck and know too well how it can get out of hand copying creatures
You have two Tomb of Horrors Adventurer, so you should've gotten four copies of Cloudblazer. Didn't change the outcome, but still...
That ashnod deck is very thematic
