Eric Clapton’s singing doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. He’s a fabulous singer. Great performance all around.
It is funny that as he aged, his voice got much better. In Cream, Jack Bruce was the better singer, now Eric's voice is as you suggest, very good.
@Timothy Daniels, I wonder if it's because Eric Clapton took care of his voice? I agree; he is a fabulous singer who got better and better.
I think he sings great too........joe's singing isn't his strong suit.
You've read this well! I had the same thought.
As an older player myself, I am very impressed with how respectful Joe is towards these old legends. He doesn't try to shine or dominate, instead he tries to make them shine. It's wonderful to see, and it warms my old heart. Never change Joe!
Joe a class act
Cept for that Freddie king induction… he kinda let loose on the shredding when Billy was trying to keep it more bluesy, make for an interesting combo 😂
AND.... because he had a good Mom & Daddy!!!! @@jds2056
Obvious, he learnt from them
He is a fan of Clapton
Two giants having a conversation in a language of their own. Thank you for allowing us to listen gentlemen.
Wow. Great comment. Perfect analogy!!
You mean à giant and a dwarf.
@@jeanmarieboucherit7376the dwarf would be Clapton.he’s no match for Joey.
@@drakejdf you must be joking. Joey can't write à good song, has never had à hit record or à mémorable solo, has never had the slightest influence on the history of music, has never been inducted in the rockn'roll Hall of fame ( 3 times?), hé is à guitar player for dummies who are not actually interested in music.
Feels like eavesdropping, doesn't it?
No one better than Eric Clapton. He never upstages anyone, or disrespects them. He is always happy when another guitar player is making his guitar talk. Clapton is not egotistical and is happy just to play with other great guitarists. I have a lot of respect for him. 🎸🎸
Clapton never upstages because he's not really good enough
@@majorrgeek HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LMAO awesome joke
ha , yeah , EC is great , we have known that for a few hundred years but his ego is even bigger than his guitar work .
@@chuckblaisdell990 just search for "bb king talks about eric clapton" on youtube and you´ll se how eric really is.
@@brunomesquita6040 - EC was never great once or even now - his main downfall is his lacking original style - he has found a niche in white man's blues and British blues which is second rate c.f. the original blackman's blues - e.g. Robert Johnson's crossroads is brilliant while EC's is crap and there are many white muso's much greater than him e.g. JJ Cale
This is awesome! The look on Eric's face says, "This kid is a great player and fun to play with". Joe's face says, "F***!!! I'm playing with Eric f***ing Clapton!!!" ;) Great playing from two amazing guitarists! :)
Agreed!!
Couldn’t put it better. 👏
Eric’s like I got more hair than this “Kid”
Best example of that is the “it might get loud” thing when the Edge and Jack White meet Jimmy Page. The looks on their faces were just like mine would be. Holy F$%& that’s Jimmy Page and he’s right there in front of me!
You nailed it. I absolutely LOVED the way they played off each other and you can tell they were loving it too. I would kill to be able to play like that. Awesome stuff.
Eric smiling at 4:30 is just absolutely magical. Bravo, Joe
Jeez you can see how much this means to Joe, especially as they're tearing into that last solo. Clapton was generous and gracious.
True ! And looked like he got some big smiling from E.C. as well !😎
Just watched another video where Joe talks about how much Eric means to him and that he wanted to play royal just like his hero... someone he was talking with said they could get Eric in and Joe was ecstatic. Heaven for him.
Wish he didn't wear shades. Sometimes eyes can show more than soul. But heck , still an awesome performance.
@@simonrosenblut7268 I think Joe said he does it because the lights are so blinding on stage which makes sense, but I agree with you.
Hear, hear!
Clapton is at the zenith of rock. No one will ever fly higher than Slow hand.
What an outstanding performance. Best version of this tune ever IMO. A group of humble, professional 'team' oriented musicians onstage backing each other up. A great example for the rest of us...
Not everyone brings the Clapton out of Clapton. This track be brilliant. Thanks Joe for keeping the lamp lit. 🔥
That was a great way to put it 😊
perfectly said. I tend to feel Clapton goes through the motions on many gigs - understandably given the amount of times he's been playing. This time I felt he was actually feeling it and working at it. Bit like the early Cream days. Great vid, and two great performers creating magic.
Spot on. I saw Buddy Guy do the same thing years ago.
There's just nothing like seeing... rare as it may be... EC in the zone.
I love your comment😊🎸🎸❤️
Very cool how Clapton kept his volume understated, even with Bonamassa's so out front. EC has nothing to prove. Just happy to be up there playing with the next generation.
Two Masters! And to think, Clapton was that good before Joe was even born....
Both of these gifted and amazing players, having a wonderful time together, just a legendary performance! A career highlight for Joe no doubt about it! ❤❤❤
The "you go first, son" sign at 1:23 is just priceless. The little things that say it all!
The Royal Albert Hall is Eric's home, he's just being polite to his guests ;)
just looking at eric's face and how happy he is giving me tears .. what a legend a massive respect for the both artists
your life must be really boring.
The amount of respect those guys showed for each other on that song was wonderful. Joe was careful not to cover Eric's softer tone or upstage him, which I believe he could've done. And that smile on Eric's face during the duel solo said it all!
Joe could have torn him apart speed wise but i gotta' say wouldn't it be interesting to hear him play with the cream era clapton cause he gave up that style/tone in the mid 70's.
I think it's his best playing.
Joe kept his supersonic speed licks in his pocket out of respect. A true rock n roll gentleman...🎸
Eric having a absolute blast. Smiling from ear to ear lol.
Fantastic
Joe’s tone is SO TIGHT!! It just punches through. Amazing to see two talents like that come together.
to me taste its a bit too tight at times if you get what i mean. But then other times i love that lol.
@@danielabatabogdanov8586 totally agree, it's true sometimes you want it to be a bit messy and loose!
@@danielabatabogdanov8586 I agree, but he's always playing with a huge band so it makes sense most of the time.
Eric Clapton's voice sounds so damn right.
Eric’s vocal is in my view his main feature. Sadly the tone of his guitar in the clip is not great, so a little disappointing, but honestly his singing is fantastic
Always!
Two masters of the blues and the guitar.
I am so happy for Joe as I am sure this was one of his life long dreams to play alongside “God” himself. No one deserves it more. His hard work and humility has paid off.
This is really really great Clapton thoroughly enjoyed himself and joe certainly did not disappoint
Something I've always noticed about Eric's playing is how relaxed he is. Unlike many metal shredders who feel the need to be super animated in their physical movements, Eric just let's the music do the talking. The net result is he never fluffs a note, he never makes a mistake.
Is nickname isn't soft hands?
@@normandpaul6272 Or slowhand?
@@donDonau Slowhand... because it looks so easy...
Heroin makes people relaxed
@@lastnamefirst4035 😂 that’s fucked up buts it’s so funny 😂
They both smile so much that it's a blast to see. Hearing would be enough, but watching them enjoy trading licks is the best. Thanks!
the best part... happiness.
The soloing on this is spectacular! When they both go high up on the neck simultaneously, I can feel the whole room lift. One of the best guitar moments ever. Two absolute masters!
Eric Clapton's charechter can be summed up in one word: gentleman. He delights at the success of others, and encourages new talent. I'm biased. I'm 75,and have been a fan since the Yardbirds.
Eric is absolute guitar royalty. He's an old timer now, but he's still a competitor. Guitar players, especially high level players are viciously competitive. This young kid comes in and he's polished. This makes Eric feel like a young guy again. He's always seemed very polite and proper. That's because he's always as good or better than the other players. He's never threatened. A killer comes in and he's gonna sit up in his seat and drive with both hands. Love to see that dynamic.
Clapton's rhythm playing is sublime.
The first time I listened to this I thought Eric’s tone was terrible but the more I listen to it the more it seems perfect for the moment. Absolutely awesome.
Getting to play with EC is an equivalent to winning a Nobel prize for music.
I never tire of hearing this song and watching Joe & Eric play off each other! I read once that Joe said he played it pretty much exactly as he had learned it as a child from Clapton’s recording, and he was somewhat wishing he had improvised something new for this performance with Clapton. But not so fast.....I think Clapton is really enjoying this tribute to his own work…and I’m sure it was an honor for him to hear Joe play it perfectly! Clapton looks very pleased.
...they play well together🧡...
It's a big pleasure to watch these musicians played together. It seems to me Eric was looking and smiling at Joe like daddy😃😃😃
I've noticed that whenever Clapton plays with other guitarists he watches them during their solos as if he might learn something from them. And that, to me, is the ultimate compliment a guitarist can get.
I've seen Eric share the stage in many videos and he's always seemed gracious. Here he looks very genuinely pleased. It also never hurts to have a first class backing band like Joe's.
They played that song like they had played together for a long time, and i think he the. Realized that joe ment every Word in that letter he sent
That’s when you know you’ve hit the big time when you’re trading licks with Clapton. Saw Joe in Vegas and he was phenomenal.
Saw him open for Peter Frampton in SF in maybe 2005ish? Great show!
Joe telling the story of how this whole show/tune worked out is pretty good too.
Eric Clapton plugs into your guitar solo and plays the notes you leave out...
Clapton is amazing, simply the best!
That was FREAKIN' AWESOME !!!!!!! You could tell they were having a great time trading licks back and forth ...
Good to see Eric playing with a smile on his face .....2😎
It doesn’t get any BETTER than this ... THANK You Eric, THANK You Joe
The singing and the playing just pours out of Clapton so naturally
Yea its all Clapton. Who's the other guy?
Clapton's vocals & Joe's guitar work are the absolute perfect combination.
Published 3 years ago, and still has not reached 1b views. What a shame! Amazing performance.
100% agreee. Amazing performance
It's only at 2.7 M now. I just found it.
Incredible. I could see Clapton really enjoying himself when they started trading licks. He went from pretty much straight faced to smiling and having a great time with Bonamassa.
My first two times through this, I did my best to play along.
For the third listen, I just turned my amp off and cried.
Thanks, Joe, for bringing us this legendary moment.
I think Eric is tickled pink that his career has inspired future generations of blues guitarists to carry the torch and play the music he loves so much.
You can see in Clapton's face a pure joyness feeling.
Trading licks with Clapton in front of a packed crowd at the Royal Albert Hall... does it get any better than that?
Fantastic playing by both. According to Joe, Clapton turned up with a brand new Strat and a brand new 57 reissue twin and a lead and just plugged in and played. No messing about. Legend. This is one of my favourite Clapton tunes which I learnt as best as I could about 30 odd years ago. Must go and have another bash!
I’ve always loved Clapton’s version of this song. It chokes me up for some reason. It’s just so beautiful.
The version with freddie king is crazy!
Older greatness
Newer greatness, both of them are nice guys and humble. Can’t wait to see Joe this December.
The 43 people who gave a thumbs down are completely clueless. These guys are unbelievably good!
They need to answer for themselves or we shall hunt them down.
@Torrie Seager perhaps your opinion is overrated, just sayin'.
@Torrie Seager I'm glad you are confident in your opinion, as I am in mine. Cheers, :) By the way, the term "overrated" is a slippery one. Who is doing the rating, what is the criteria? Really, it is simply individual opinions that can not be measured, or rated at all. They are just observations based on our personal feelings, informed or not. No big deal.
Their thumb just slipped…
The student meets his master. I couldn't but smile right along with them.
They really, really, really, really need to do a whole gig together it will blow the whole world's mind..!
That would be a Dandy.
Maybe Even have major goofs and the stonedeafs play too. Color is your choice.
When they start playing you can see Eric is just a little unsure of how they are going to work together. But, as they go through the song, hand the ball back and forth and start to jell he relaxes. By the end when they are jamming together he has a smile on his face and they are just so in tune with each other. As Mark, my brother by another mother God rest him, used to say. Cool beans.
Great .... video!! Clapton is always "generous" on stage with young guitarists and that is one of the reasons that Clapton is STILL GOD!!! And Joe? Besides playing great, he's having the time of his life, nothing better than that.
Good comment....Anyway Joe played with BB King when just a teenager....He's having the time of his life since long.....
OMG. Eric Clapton peaked with
Cream back in 60's. Still a force
To be reckoned with, but,"God".
Naaah. Clapton made a name
Playing with John Mayall and
The Yardbirds. Not a bluesman
However. Rocker? Not. Whatever
He's given us a lot of great music.
Eric and Joe , Further on up the road, what a great song for musicianship .
What a phenomenal moment in time with these two superb guitarists both playing leads back and forth and in tandem. Not so much a duel but totally complimentary to one another. What a privilege to those who were there to experience this. We get the experience here. What a night.
Joe Bonamassa and Eric Clapton play the best Blues .🎵🎶🎸 Many thanks Guys.👌❣🇺🇸
Hi Anita how are you doing
It doesn't matter next to which blues great Joe Bonamassa is, no matter with whom he plays, when he starts to play my heart goes out to him. He is not comparable to anything or anyone. The way he plays is unmistakable.
Good Job Joe that handwritten invite to Eric was reciprocal for both of you !
What a beautiful performance of Clapton with Fender and Bonamassa with Gibson. I just could not get enough.
Woman tone
Man voice
God is in the house ladies and gentlemen...!
Eric the Blues Master as a youngster he played with the Legends Muddy Water, B B King and more, he is a Englishman you know. Joe, Damn. Man we didn't see you coming, but what a ride, keep it up. Lovin' it guys.
Can you imagine, just 3-400 years ago, public performances like this were for royalty only. We are so blessed to not only see it at home, fully mixed for sound, in our own personal ear phones or audio system. To have these two men on the same stage is like having Ice Cream and Cake of the highest caliber for your dessert!!!!
Joe tells a story about this where he was little-kid-nervous about inviting Eric to come and see him play at Albert Hall -- not because it was Albert Hall, but because Eric had done such an ep[ic performance there. He said he would have played at some pub if Eric had playered there as well. Eric accepting the invite. Joe said Eric's support essentially endorsed Joe as a player. Joe was sop gracious about Eric, and Eric was gracious in return. This is what sports calls sportsmanship. We all stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us.
Very well said. Joe showed his respect to the one and only Eric Clapton. EC shows Joe respect and CLASS!
2 of the best rock/ blue's guitar artists to ever graze this planet.
Keep it coming. 😎
Joe Bonamassa. What a neat guy and such a good guitarist. Love him.
when you guys hit the final note, to watch the smiles and interaction between you two, i honestly shed a tear, well done Joe & congratulations. I'm off to practice my scales, or as i tell the wife this ones called I got the beginner blues, in A!!!
his smile....it means everything... it became real.
The double solo at the end is clearly masterful by two of the best
That was a powerful performance that showed a mutual respect from both sides.
Neither one tried to out shine the other ! Love Clapton always on top of, But Joe has the music running through his veins 😲 He held back his fabulous talent out of awesome respect for his guitar Brother!!!!💕
Love to watch Eric Clapton smile when they gel together playing off each other.effortless playing by both.
Eric is such a musical treasure. When I see him I am always grateful. All of us only have so much time here and we have to bask in this music.
Wow what a performance, thank goodness that’s on film to enjoy forever. That’s the way to do it boys and girls. Thanks JB and EC.
Eric Clapton and Joe Bonamassa collaboration in discussing ways on perfecting their music and deliver it to us is the happiest thought I ever had.
Clapton still has it! Go Eric!
he put a smile on Claptons face, so he's got that going for him.
I imagine the next day someone asked Clapton what he did the night before and he just said "eh I just stopped by and sat in with Joe Bonamassa at the Royal Albert Hall..." LOL!
The call and response is by far the coolest part... soooo smoothly going to and fro 🎉
Eric is so smooth and classy
You can tell joe is geeking out when he his his first solo note. :) awesome.
I've seen Clapton six times and Joe two times. Can't wait to see Joe again. Both are legends!
Eric clapton has nothing to prove to anyone.
It's not about ego or being the fastest guitarist, it's about his love for the blues
i always say, if you want to learn the blues on electric guitar, Clapton is your man. He's like an encyclopedia of great blues licks and phrasing.
You nailed it. Thanks pal.
truly one of the greatest days for music is the day eric decided to pick up a strat and impress the world and me,of his genius,no one has had more successful bands or played with the genius talent of the world than ERIC CLAPTON,truly an amazing man
Tone for days...both of them...
The punch and growl of the Les Paul, the silky smooth flow of the Strat on the neck pick up...just so damn
Tasty...
The two best guitarists in the world……. Beautiful!
I am grateful for the wonderful things in life,
And this performance is one of those!
Doesn't get any better than this!
Same here, my dear Lady! IMHO not only this concert, but all ever Joe has song and played is absolutely brilliant, outstanding. Joe's an unique, he's enriched my my inner world. 🤝🌷🌷🌷🎄🍾🍸🎁🎆🎄🎄🎄
Eric is Eric, THE inspiration for sooooooo many guitar players, including me.🎸
Call and response - rather nicely done, particularly Joe's restraint. Very respectful and Eric knows it... unlike his experience with Hendrix all those years ago. I'm glad to listen to this collaboration that Joe, could easily have turned into contest.
What was his experience with Hendrix?
@@binilgn5941 Called 'cutting heads'. Chopped off Eric's head and most of his neck too....
How could it ever turn into a competition, its a matter of what your ear prefers ,love joe to bits ,but Eric's phrasing , note choice and tone would win everytime for me ,but to someone else joe would be the one they prefer ,the only competition is in your own head ,not between them 2,
@@binilgn5941 Eric let Hendrix sit in with Cream. Jimi did everything he could stick into a few minutes, blowing everyone's mind (especially EC).
He played Killin' Floor (Howlin' Wolf).
@@PC160 Actually Hendrix was a very humble guy who probably felt like he had to put on a good show for Eric, he was just being himself.
Eric Clapton is 77 years old. You would never know it. That guy kicks ass ! Gives me hope for my future.
Eric and Joe together... THAT'S THE JACKPOT. Great to hear how they bring each other to the highest point. A historical happening. To be honest... I never saw Eric playing with that big smile on his face. We may call it a historical happening. SpeesCees/august 2021
Fantastic! There's a video of Bonamassa as a 12 year old playing with Danny Gatton as a I recall. Bonamassa, like all those greats is going to be true to his roots, and will also being playing with the young up-and-coming guys when he gets old. Well done Clapton and Bonamassa.
Eric with total mastery of his Strat. Every note, every bend from the high notes to those “back in the alley” low notes as Johnny Otis would say are pure perfection. A true legend
you nailed it, i never really figured this out completely until i saw him live, every note he played rang out it was amazing
Joe B. has become the modern-day Eric C. He's a hardworking artist that plays with immense determination and passion. There will never be another Eric C., but Joe B. is working hard to be in the running. Gr8 respect for both!!!
I f you haven't seen Joe live, put it on your bucket list.
The enjoy each other, great tune...Two real masters doin' their thing.
For sure !!!
It's great but clapton and the Band Last waltz EC and Robbie no marshall stack just two small ampes and there tone doesn't get any better I love some JB to
Joe Bonamassa, il futuro del blues
Fantastic playing by both
I love this musically, but the look smile on Erics face makes it all worth while
Gotta love the dueling guitars toward the end!
Why are there tears running down my cheeks right now!?!
This song never gets old. I must dance song for everyone! Thank you Joe and Paul!
