  • I bought the Molus G60 to see what all the hype is and really determine if it's worth it. I've been using it in a variety of ways and scenarios to see how it performs. The totally silent fans, small form factor, and bi-color abilities are very impressive for sure. What do you think of the light?

This is going to be my next light. I've started getting into smaller lights. I film weddings and something like this would be great with another small one for reception. Some venues have such poor lighting and sometimes just a little more light goes a long way. Thank you for the review it was very helpful in me deciding that this would be perfect in those situations

Hi Heather, thank you again for your videos. I messaged you before telling you that you are one of my trusted sources on UA-cam, and I've been really happy with so many of the products that you've recommended. I ended up getting this Molus G60 for Black Friday, but then when I connected it to power, it gave off a slight electrical buzzing noise, and then within a few minutes it automatically shut down due to overheating. I contacted Zhiyun service who asked me to do a firmware update, but the app they use to download the update could only detect the G60 for a split second. Needless to say, not the best experience, and I'll be returning the light. I may have just gotten a lemon and this kind of thing happens, but I wanted to bring this to your attention anyway.

Great review, thank you! From an innovation front, I like that they've created a clearly different form for the two control buttons, one round and one with a cross. It'll be super helpful when it's rigged up high or low and you're trying to feel which button you're controlling. On so many other lights it's all too easy to hit the wrong button when working blind.

I bought 2 G60 and last week I flew and I did 2 music videos with those two lights bringing to me 120 watts and made a great illumination to the place and used too 2 ulanzi rgb lights for the background colors. So those lights are innovative to use in travel situations for low budgets productions. I was in shocked for the great quality I got for my client. Thanks for the review, I really love your style of showing stuff in different context and hah, yes you are definitely not a hype-reviewer which is nice :D
(idk if you remember me from your comments like uuuuh 2 years ago?) I finally moved (:D) and I got myself a really nice camera streaming setup and now trying to fix my lighting setup.
Thinking about this light as a key (probably with the softbox, but the silicone dome also looks tempting) + a veripole to hold a small LED strip as a hair light.
My problem generally has been that my space is still pretty small and even the small soft boxes I've seen people review are still HUGE and I can't pull my desk far enough off the wall (there's like an 8-10 inch gap at the moment for my desk clamp that holds my camera).
So seeing this thing come with an _actually tiny_ softbox is a breath of fresh air :) Anyway, thanks for your insightful reviews and have a great day

I have the Molus x100. I am using it as my key light. the tiny softbox is cool for on the go but I got a 70cm softbox which make super advantage. I've been commenting this on a few videos and I'm glad you finally got it in your radar to review BUT at its current price point, these lights are WAAAAY to over priced! One of my issues was resolved now that the lights have been out for a few months is that they didn't sell any of the accessories as stand alones. So now you can go base model and scoop up the Bowens adapter separately! These lights are alright but I kid you not literally all of UA-cam hyped these things up and they aren't even revolutionary! You are paying for size and that's it

    • @FellowFilmmaker

Where do you think this stands as in real world use other than "oh i have light that is cube sized". My question is based on other Companies product.
    For example.
Godox brought ML60 as a portable one for it's SL60 series.
Aputure brought Amaran 60D as a portable for it's Other Amaran series/LS 60 light.
These are actual (or 80%) replacement for their counterparts. So where does this zhiyun stands?

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  Рік тому +1

I'd say these are excellent for traveling filmmakers who need lights that don't take up space but also don't have accessories that take up as much space either. I think they fit into almost any kit because there is always a time you need a backlight or rim that fits into that one tight corner of a space and this would be a great way of accomplishing that. I wish I had this years ago when I was trying to get a small light to hit on a specific section of my background that no other light I had could do because of size and weight issues, plus not being able to modify easily.
When it comes to other companies, it out performs them mainly in it's size and weight with included scaled accessories that actually do some decent work.
The other companies out there have portable lights but none as lightweight and small sized. I think this light has it's place. It's not for everyone perhaps due to budget but it certainly could be used by many who need the extra space and weight saved.

Hi, Heather. You ask what I think of the light? In 2023, it's a huge over-price. And no color?! Are you kidding me? As a non-professional who has a home studio and contributes big $$ to this pastime, I don't buy non-RGB lights any more. You got a nice kit there, no question, but here is what makes competitive sense to me: Add color, add a 2nd light into that total package you showed, sell the whole kit for $199.99. Make available a 3rd light with color including only the diffuser for $59.99. Then I'm interested. However, I like your video and I like your usual practicality which seems to be misplaced IMHO on this product. I wish you still had your $300. 😂😂 Well, okay, maybe a pro with a commercial studio full of single-use equipment may feel differently, although your cons might make them go ahead and buy $1000 lights. Thanks for the review. 👏👏

After owning many different light out there, many RGBWW , Bi-color, and just daylight - I'd have to say my favorite is bi-color. I don't use RGB that much unless it's very specific to create a stylistic piece. In general I'm mimicking the sun or light fixtures and so bi-color does that for me.

Overhyped and overrated. The light must do one thing only - to emit light particles. For serious video content makers the size does not play much. Because they have a studio and a van to deliver all those lights, c-stands and etc. to the location. Vlogers who travel don't bring set of lights with them anyway.
IMHO, this tiny light most suited for product, food or miniatures shooters, where you don't need a normal or big size softboxes.

I disagree, while emitting light is it's function it should do much more than that. If lights never evolved we would not have half the content we see today. Having portable, affordable, and versatile equipment allows Filmmakers of all types to be more creative and make better content.
When gear is more accessible and versatile it allows creativity to thrive.
