Love that you're testing things that have real world applications. Yoke and mount strength, cable length, heat dissipation, etc. Watched half a dozen other videos before I found this one and most hadn't mentioned most of those things. Earned a sub!
I just watched a review on this light yesterday. Well done, but with too much fluff. Four or five different dramatic lit angles in a row with no talking, but the light slowly rotating. Had to wait for the dramatic shots to end to get more info about it. I AM SO GLAD to see today YOUR review. No fluff. Here's what there is to know about it. Here's what your experience with it was like. Here's your thoughts on it. THANK GOD! Thank you for the way you do these reviews. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you for mentioning the heat and cable length. You kept it simple and straight forward compared to other reviews. Might pick this light up! Thanks!
Can't wait for Zhiyun's first proper 300w light! Love their innovation when it comes to designs, they might not have the reputation Aputure has but they're slowly getting there.
Ever since I came upon your channel it has been for me an invaluable source of information about filmmaking in general and specifically for lighting! Like specially with the spectrometer readings you almost always provide your channel really stands out for giving a clear picture of the product you’re reviewing 👍🏼 I honestly don’t understand how your followers numbers doesn’t cross at least a couple hundred thousands😳! Specially with that gorgeous face you have 😊, Thanks miss for everything 👍🏼
Great review! you are the first one I see mention how hot it gets at max mode and how loud the fan gets. Thanks for sharing all those "issues" and letting us know the pros and cons, specially in real world scenarios.
You’d think that with something designed so small, that a benefit of its size is that you could use it remotely outdoors. Huge miss with no V-Mount option but still ordered one because the price to power ratio seemed pretty good.
In the comparison with the Amaran 60d at 6:52 - The image on the left (Amaran 60d) has a lot more detail than the image on the right (Molus G200x) - Is this due to the quality of the light or something else? Also would you recommend the Amaran 60d over the Molus 200x for a portable but high quality light?
Thanks for the review! Really interesting light!!! ANd YIKES with the rug it reminded me of Gaffer and Gear´s video on Safe Clothing in which he recommends wearing 100% cotton clothes and never ever use synthetic fabrics, he showed how in literally seconds an HMI was melting a tshirt hanging from a C stand (totally recommended video btw!)
Girl, you did the best comparison. I have the G200 and the Amaran 150, and for some reason, I like the G200 vs the Amaran when I use 5600 or 6500K with the Glow difusser, obviously very portable but without V mount is the only cons I could found it too. Well I waiting that light but RGB version, maybe G200R? Have a good one.
I like the footprint of this! I think this would be great for Documentary settings, Especially if it had V or Gold Mount. Thankfully I have an EcoFlow River 288Whr model (Fun Fact: Godox VL300 at 100% will last 40 minutes and pulls 313 watts!)
@@FellowFilmmaker FWIW, people are stupid. It would have been a very valuable inclusion. I'd say it's an important factor for any light, but doubly so when you have mentioned that fan noise can be an issue in boost mode. Excellent review though - covered pretty much every angle of this light, and not one wasted second. Really solid presenting too. As someone else said, I'm especially grateful for the lux/lumens values.
I have a Molus G60 and I really like it, but I've been looking to get something a little bit stronger. This looks interesting (especially with the max mode). I was also considering the 100X, so definitely looking forward to the comparison video of the two.
So you pulled a Dave Altizer. :) He actually burnt his winter coat with the X100 when he put it under his arm for a second. This IS a pretty powerful light, especially in that max mode. It held up pretty significantly to my Nanlite FS-300B. I love the form factor, but they seem pretty risky as far as setting things like your house or yourself on fire. Hopefully this will not come back to bite them. Like with any light fixture...Use caution kids.
I also bought Zhiyun G200 recently, and found that there is a problem with the G200 Bowens mount. It cannot be installed with other brands of Bowens mount accessories, such as Godox VSA-36K and SMDV softbox, and can only barely fit the original reflector. Have you encountered this problem? Can you fit your Zhiyun G200 with Godox VSA-36k spotlight mount? Remember you did the review of godox spotlight mount
That these things even exist is a strong, nigh irrefutable testament to how incredibly spoiled we are as content creators nowadays. What a great time to be into filmmaking!!!! Also, thank you for doing that strength test with the softbox. No one else reviewing this did that, and it's a legitimately important point for me in terms of purchase decision.
Obviously it’s great because it is compact. So awesome! But a loud fan is not desirable at all. Having a hot iron-like surface is bad too. I’ve heard that cheaper portable LED lights can degrade in light accuracy, if they get too hot (don’t use them at 100%). I’d worry about this happening to this very hot light too.
right, this only applies if you use it for long hours at 100%. And the really loud fan is in Max mode mostly. I imagine with firmware updates itll only get better anyway :D
Great review… Love the transparency. SN: I still want it 😂😂😂 Gonna be interesting to see Amaran’s response… Either way it’s a great time to be a film maker….
Great review. Definitely considering this light for my small set. And I just realized your watch band is grey! Is that a white balance/exposure hack?? Want!
It's funny that you are reviewing a Zhiyun light because I received a dealer application today. I'm not sure if I want to move in their direction. I love the innovation but they also seem to have quite a few quirks. What do you think about their products?
I've enjoyed what they are creating. Seems innovative in some regards, like in design. I think their products are good and have the chance to really move up and give some competition.
Love your review! I am currently own a Nanlite FS-300B, and I find it hard to boom it because it is pretty heavy. G200 might be an answer for this, but still, I'm waiting for the next light from Zhiyun that has the same power with all the portable alterative power supply option. They probably name it X200.
As a recomendation, try to messure Luxs without the reflector also, because most of us uses softboxes and other diffusers so the reading with reflector Doesn't tell anything. Still thx for your review

Great review! Can the handle/mount on the light be removed or is it permanently attached?
It's attached with hex screws, I imagine you could try to remove it
@@FellowFilmmaker that’s annoying, it would make for a much easier storage if the mound could be removed.
Oh well the handle portion could be disassembled, I tried that. But you still have the base stuck on there.
