I looked at the larger version released last year if I recall correctly and it was finished well above what you would expect for the price and it's COSC as well.. I didn't make a purchase as I was at the AD to pick up a different watch and I already have the GMT function watch covered. In 39mm I might have another looks at some point along with the other smaller Spirit collection. A lot of manufacturers are doing 21mm lugs these days and the strap makers are increasingly covering that size so would not be an issue for my but I can understand it will irritate some. The male end links decision seems an odd one but they do drop considerably from the lugs so I'd suggest trying it on if possible before a purchase.
Yes, it happened to me that is why I started to include it. I couldn't figure out why my 38mm king seiko was wearing like a 40mm and then I measured the sapphire 34mm and 'ah-ha' moment happened. But it is a bit difficult to get it right. I use my crystal press dies/molds and calipers and even then it could be a hair off. I do tests with watches I know the exact size of to see if how I measure is working. Its pretty good but nothing beats pressing out the sapphire to measure it.
Will hopefully be able to try it soon. The only thing that's putting me off is the male endlinks but I think especially for the green version (which I prefer) a brown leather strap looks better anyways. Thanks for the video!

Spirit ZT is the best watch in the Longines catalog. The bezel on the regular spirit looks undersized to me, this fixes that. Spirit also has Nomos style ultra long lugs, Longines listened to the complaints there and shortened them on the ZT models. 39 x 46 is ideally sized. I agree about the awkward 21mm width, but it's not a huge deal, just have a custom shop make a 21mm strap and you're good. I think it's a much better watch than the chonky, bland BB Pro, and it costs *$1,000* less than that watch. An interesting new competitor is the Ball Engineer III Outlier. Very similar size, similar price, in-house COSC true GMT movement. The Ball has a fully lumed bezel, and of course the lume is always on.

Yes there is something strange in Canada. Kavar told me this back when I reviewed the 37mm spirit. I didn't like the bracelet and wanted to pay less and they told me its the same. And they were wondering why no one buys the strap model. I ended up not buying it in the end.
Watching this wearing my 42 mm green ('^_^') Its my 1 year anniversary with it. Sidenote, I scratched my top AR coating, but my OCD made me fix it. Cost me 350 USD. My biggest complaint about the watch would be male endlinks and the movement, I hate that its 2-4 seconds lost every day.

Most watchmakers consider anything under 1.0ms to be acceptable. So no 0.4ms is not BAD. And the daily rate is still 0 sec a day with strong amplitude. Very healthy movement that will continue to keep PERFECT TIME for at least 5-7 years. Then need a service.

The second crown position is probably to set both time and GMT and the first position is for hour hand only. This is the first time I see “true” GMT in action. It’s pretty cool.
Lovely watch, my only complaint, and not singling out Longines, but with all watch makers, is the 1/5th second marks do not match the VPH. This watch vibrates at 25,200 VPH, which is 1/7th of a second therefore there should be 7 hack marks per second, not 5. Now not a show stopper on a time only watch like this. But it is on the chronographs which all beat greater than 18,000 VPH (1/5th) where the divisions are just for show.
i dont think you can keep a 3rd time zone by turning the bezel cos it will just move the hour markers for the gmt hand. unless you got a 24 hour chapter ring
1st time zone: hour hand reads the dial hour. 2nd time: GMT hand reads the bezel hour. Most people only use two time zones as it’s the easiest and the bezel remains in its default position. 3rd time one: hour hand reads the bezel hour (and you divide by 2). To get three zones you rotate bezel first to get your 3rd time one and then set up your gmt hand for the 2nd.
Fantastic watch. Beautiful in every aspect, not in the last place the true GMT engine !! BUT ... who had the (not so) brilliant idea to put those 5 stars on the dial?? It makes the watch look so cheap suddenly. So out of place .... IMHO ....

I have both and I find myself wearing this alot more. The BB GMT is too heavy and thick, but definitely a bit better build quality.

The 42mm is 49mm L2L which is the same proportions as the 39mm just... 3 mm extra 😅. Still less than an Explorer 2 L2L.

Price with bracelet or leather seem to be same in Canadian ADs; Please confirm. Kavar seem to price the 39mm at Cdn$ 100 more than the 42mm.

A grand seiko 9f quartz gmt might work for you if accuracy is your thing.
-2 to -4 spy is within COSC. Mine is an absolute gem sitting at about+2 SPD. Slightly.kre accurate than my Omega SMP 300 actually

Yes when setting the gmt hand arriving in your new country you don't want the movement to hack and lose any seconds. You want it to stay accurate.
You can argue that the jumping hour time zone is preferable, but I think the term "true" should apply to the first GMT, the Glycine Airman.
Or the Worlds first 4 HANDER GMT the Rolex GMT Master, which is a caller GMT. But these are the names the masses have settled on.

The 5 Stars is from the Admiral a historic Longines from the 50's I believe. They only put the stars on their best movements! I think it looks great!
The only problema of this watch is the increase of its prices.

I use my 20mm straps on my 21mm lug watch. You wont notice that small thinny gap.
Went to see that watch yesterday, 39mm is not for me ( too small and girly IMO ) but the 41 mm is perfect. I’m getting one next week.
Price is way too high for something that feels like a Hamilton. This should settle in at $2K ish in real life.
