I've got an idea that'll help with water changes: Industrial sized mop bucket on wheels should help you out... It holds more water AND it won't hurt your back as much carrying it.
This or get a python or aqueon sink changer. I use one for mine and it dumps directly into the sink and then I flip a switch to refill the tank. It's a life changer
No because the toilet at my friends house overflowed when the power went out cause of the electric pump and so I stuck the mop we had into the toilet to suck up water💀 BUT OT WORKED SO I 10/10 RECOMMEND!!!
That behaviour with snails is probably because instincts are telling her that she needs to break the shells before they're edible, and she hasn't figured out that they're pre-shelled.

Regarding the razor blade: They make specific scrapers for fish tanks, specifically for this use case. They have a plastic grip and all that so you don't need to awkwardly hold the naked blade.
I like that you guys use products from your store when you need supplies. I’m sure it’s a great cost-effective solution for you guys, but it also helps show you’re using good products that you’d use yourselves.
Draxy was so cute! But hey! You did EVERYTHING right and that is what matters the most! He could have had a short life AND bad husbandry! And now Dewey is just as derpy and adorable as Ally....oh gosh she has competition for the cutest in Snake Discovery!
With the splashing on the water level you could always buy a shower door seal from Home Depot to goes on the edge of glass and keeps overflow in. It's a clear plastic piece that just fits over the edge and has a lip to seal the bottom of showers.
Very sad that drax passed but that just means another animal gets to experience some luxury just like he did. He got the best life he could’ve before passing, hopefully in the future down the road you can one day get another to love and cherish.🙏

the amount of poop that comes of out bigger lizards and the SMELLL will never not surprise me.. recently got a bearded dragon, lets just say my boyfriend almost threw up. 😭🤣
My first reptile ever was a rescued farm raised green iguana. She never really grew and I couldn't figure out why, so this was nice to know it probably wasn't anything I did wrong husbandry wise. Congrats on your new home Dewey :)

The fate of Drax reminds me of one of my cats. He died at age 3 of feline leukemia, which he most likely contracted as a kitten who regularly hung around a feral colony. (He had a home, but they were neglectful.) So sad.

Aquatops have a problem with the locks I used one for 2 years with my 80 gal fish tank. the pressure gets pretty high that the locks do break so keep a eye on them. Other than that they are great.
Aww, poor Drax! I just finished my clinical parasitology rotation for vet tech and it is so, so frustrating when a dormant/previous issue comes back to bite 😢 Dewey will love his new digs, and I know he’ll make lots of people smile, just like Drax did ❤
If you ever need to clean algae off again but don’t want to risk scratching the glass, A scrub daddy works the best! Specifically the glass cleaner ones.
Have you thought about getting in touch with Tom Crutchfield? He has a few caiman lizards himself. I don’t know if he has bread them yet but might be worth having a chat. If he can’t help, he might be able to put you in touch with someone who can. 🤷🏼♀️

If you get a scraper knife thats a lot nicer on your hanfs than just a razor blade. It's basically just a razor blade in a handle you can get them at like hardware stores or standard grocery stores in the cleaning supplies section if you look for things to clean glasstop stoves

I have an 8-year-old dumerils monitor. He also was a rescue. I have had him since he was about 9 months old. He is 4 feet long and around 7 pounds.
