After we posted the 20-year-old habitat we were gifted by a local customer, Custom Cages reached out to send us the newest model to see how much it has changed over the years! It is BEAUTIFUL.

I love how manufacturers realize the BEST way to showcase their product . . . is to create a showcase of their products with good creators.
I followed the link to the exact cage they got and it retails for $5600, but when you consider that they had already reached 100k viewers less than 24 hours after this posted, they'll make waaay more money on this than a much more expensive commercial would net them
@@sh969especially considering the actual cost of the enclosure is obviously less than what they charge for it.
And the average person may never buy this cage, they may still look on the website and buy a cage more suitable for their budgets and needs.
Personally I just find that predatory, not so much cool.
All the companies are trying to shove ads down our throat in any way possible and paying creators for sponsorships instead of just recording an ad is more profitable, because the viewers develop trust and a (parasocial) bond with the creator that is then exploited to sell you stuff. Its a sad world we live in :(
But I do agree that this is the best form of an ad there is.
No Eva and Jacob 😊
I think the emerald tree boas should be named Oz and Dorthy in reference to the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz.
Or Elphaba and Fiyero, as it is the 20th anniversary of Wicked on Broadway!
Or Oz and Ozma!
Or Kevin and Nash. That's a deep cut for wrestling fans.
Fred and Wilma
I was also thinking about Oz and Dorothy.
I love her "OOoo! Thank you!" When Ed told he left the "peely-peels" for her to do. 🥰He knows her so well. 😁
Lol she totally missed out on a “peely peel reveal”
It's the little things 🥺🥰
@@juan2three6that's what I thought she was going to say 😢
Yeah but we wanted to hear it they just played music :(
It's the little things ❤
Ed: “I left all the peely-peels for you.”
That’s love. 😭💕
I was thinking the same thing!
Yeah there love exudes the screen
I still can’t get over Ed’s confidence on camera. I been here since the very beginning and you can just see the confidence radiate from video to video
I KNOW. He has grown SO much. And it was so worth the wait. He’s great at this. Like such an asset to the vids
I think it’s also due to their very friendly and supportive community. From the beginning, the community was encouraging his appearances.
I agree! I too have been here from the beginning (I found their channel from a roach breeding video from the Stone Age of UA-cam) and I remember when Ed wouldn’t talk, even if Emily had the camera pointing away from him. I’m so glad he’s more comfortable being on camera. Like someone above said, he’s definitely an asset to SD videos.
I think the reason the old cage seems only a little wobbly is because the cork you lined the back with added some extra stability to it. I remember when you guys first set it up, before you added the cork, it was really wobbly. So if you subtract the stability that the cork added to the old cage, I think the new model is WAY more sturdy
Leaving the peeling for her because he knows it makes her gleeful.. its like the most wholesome true love 💕
The random little sweet things people do in marriages always gets me. Ed would so enjoy those "peely peels" himself, knowing just how satisfying they are; but he saves them for Emily because he wants her to have that enjoyment and satisfaction. He still gets to enjoy the satisfaction; but not as much as if he'd peeled them himself. My grandfather always saves the "folded" potato chips for my grandmother. I save the melty part of my giant cream soda freeze pops for my wife. It's just those little things you do to remind your partner you know them well and love them. 🥰🥰
The video content was awesome as well, I just got distracted with the sweet little act of love. 😊💚💚
I like the names Emma and Barry, short for Emerald and Beryl (mineral family of Emeralds).
Another set of names could be Esmeralda and Hugo as Esmeralda is a variation of the name Emerald, and Victor Hugo wrote the Hunchback of Notre Dame, in which Esmeralda is a main character.
Those are perfect suggestions!
@@silver6071thank you
This cage is insane, and compares favorably with a not insignificant number of New York apartments 😄
The price is similar to the rent too
@@breaden4381 DAMN, you are literally not kidding, even with recent rent inflation 😅
I love that ed is more comfortable filming alone than he used to be! ❤ definitely helps since you guys have to run a whole zoo and aren't just in your kitchen filming anymore 😅 but i do miss the kitchen videos.....😢 but im also so proud at how far you guys have come!! 😊❤
Emily and Ed being amazing at most everything they do . Building masters for sure !
True!
Your right
Well I just remembered how tall Emily is, and thus I just realized how big that cage really is.
Edit: I didn't realize I forgot to add she's 5'11"!
How tall is she? I had a feeling that she's quite short lol?
@@AmyBumblei cant fully recall but i think either 5'10" or 6'
@AmyBumble Emily is 6' tall. She just has that subtle way about her whole personality
5'11" IIRC.
@@JoyceBreyer-qp6mc she says in a vid she's 5'11
It’s really interesting to see the differences between the old one vs the new one. You can really see how much they’ve improved over time!
Emily: Which box should we open first?
Ed: (already opened box) i found the instructions
I’m not actually a snake lover, but love looking all the different species, the markings and colours are wonderful. I also love watching the babies snakes hatching.
For some reason, I feel like the new snakes should be named Edna and Walter. Not sure why they need grandparent names. It just feels right, lol.
They do give off 'get off my lawn' vibes 😆
Grumpy gramps
Congratulations! I have been keeping ETBs for over 30yrs. They are still my favorite non-venomous. I hope you will love them as much as I do, Thanks again. Take Care.
I love them. I think they're absolutely beautiful
I love that Ed KNOWS that Emily would want to peel it off and kept it for her
Love the technical terms Ed uses...sand papery, rocky, peely peels lol😂
I truly believe building something as a couple is a great indicator of the strength of your relationship. It shows if you can work together & how.
I love these new snakes and I love you guys! These new slither noodles are looking adorable!❤😊
I'd love to see more of the Emerald Tree Boas! They look so curious about their surroundings!
Custom cages couldn’t have done better or found anyone more gleefully excited about representing their product who also knows their product who will give good comments on any improvements or needed ones
What an amazing enclosure!! Fingers crossed to one day get baby Emerald Tree Boas. Also, that Umbreon art chef kiss. And Peridot might be a nice name for the female
I knew you were my favorite, but you confirmed it with your “satisfying peely peel compilation”!
I’m lowkey addicted to this channel. Going back and watching a lot of the old egg hatching vids fills my down time😂
"I left the peely peels for you."
True love. 😍
Appreciate and give Ed a good mate award?? He left the fun tasks to his wife/partner knowing she loved that!!
Been looking forward to this video all day. I was a little surprised to see Emerald Tree Boas in the title, because I know from other videos Ed prefers his Green Tree Pythons. But they look like such a cute couple. I know the Green Trees are named for Disney villain, so what about Robin and Marian, from Robin Hood, for these guys?
Ed’s green trees are in the zoo.
@@carschmnyeah
OMG I am so hyped for those Snake skin pendant kits, Living in New Zealand I dont have access to snakes and I've always loved the necklace you made
Working for snake discovery (like in the zoo) is literally my dream job. Like it looks like everyone has so much fun plus I get to handle different reptiles and infodump about them with an excuse? Count me in
Ed waiting for Emily and leaving her the peely peel was so sweet, that’s real partnership right there and warms my heart 💕
The enclosure looks great!
Wow a new boa! I love your channel so much and you help so many animals and you guys are amazing!
Its so nice you could take this large item off someones hands, use it for a bit and then use it to show how much the company has improved! You gave the original cage more value by comparing it and really used it to the best of its abilities!
Ed, Emily is lucky to have a guy like you! You impress me with all of your skills and you're interesting to listen to.
A new video, and a new enclosure!!!! (Hope it's just as amazing as all your others). 7:28 I'm watching this with a friend and this made them so happy.
I love this!! Emerald Tree Boas are one of my favorites!! 😊
Hi!
You two infectious. The world needs more of your nerdy and beautiful intelligent humor. ❤
They look beautiful! Fun fact they’re my favorite tree snakes!
Another beautiful home for some lucky loved reptiles. Great job guys!!
Saving the satisfying peelys for your partner? Now *that's* love!💚
It's so cool how often people want to gift you awesome reptile stuff. Everyone can see how passionate you are about reptiles and wants be involved 😊
Those peels were great! Thanks for including that part. It would have bothered me for a while if it wasnt included
Marketing done right. Good job Custom Cages!
I honestly love emerald tree boas even more than the greentrees. I find their really accentuated pits to be so fascinating, and they have so many more of them, along with their bright yellow throats. They're just so colourful and beautiful with their potential for white contrast patterning on their backs~! Also their skulls and teeth are insane!
i’ve been watching your videos for four years now and this is probably one of my favorites I hope you guys have a great day❤
14:59 Lol, Emily and "Eric" did a great job decorating the new upgraded cage.
Hansel & Gretel for the emerald tree boa... Yesterday I received my calendars and I love them. Thank you!
Almost cried when Ed said he was leaving the peeling for Emily- idk why but that kind of thing feels like the purest form of love 🥹💖
"I left all the peely-peels for you." Relationship goals.
So true. 😊
I was thinking just the morning... something is missing in my world. Oh, ya! It's been a few days since I've seen Ed and Emily... and heard Emily say, " Come here pretty girl!" to a snake. 🐍 🐍 🐍 Ya, that's just what I was needing!
I've just got to say, this is one of the most wholesome channels I've ever been lucky enough to come across. Love you guys and keep up the good work!
I love your videos I’m glad I get to see it almost first
Ed: this is a cage video, not a snake video
Title: NEW SNAKES YEEHAW 🐍🥳
Hi Emily, and Ed. The new enclosure is so nice. So many welcome upgrades, compared to the older one. Ed did an excellent job building it, and raised it up by himself. Ed knew that she would enjoy the peeling off job. The Emerald tree boas look so nice in there. Emily, you did a really good job with the decorations. Objects to use to climb on. Nice water bowl.very nice ledges. A nice one from Universal Rock. The female seems friendly, I think that the male will calm down enough to be handled. Love lizards, and snakes. Have a wonderful day. Cindy
"I left all the peely peels for you." True love.
great job! The emerald tree boas are just loving new enclosure. The only thing i kind of wish was that you could get a base on wheels for old enclosure, so they match better and to make it movable and provide storage like the new enclosure.
Love seeing another dude who looks kinda like me just crushing it. His and Emilys enthusiasm is so infectious.
I bet Ed could build a storage thing on casters to fit the underside of the old cage. Bolt it together you have more storage and it's mobile.
I love your content! Thank you for making educational and entertaining videos! ❤
I have recently discovered this channel and I’m not a reptile person except for all the lizards that inhabit our back yard, but it’s such a pleasure to watch that they are winning me over. Though my greatest animal love remains dogs and the many wild mammals around (even the coyotes that we protect our dogs from).
I was surprised to see how thoroughly they explored their cage, I was expecting them to pick a branch and never leave! It sounds like your green tree monitors might have been ill. Like they can be finicky, and hydration is an issue, but if you got both of them from the same supplier....
I Liked the video and it only was playing for a second. Love that Ed left the peeling to Emily, thats love.
I genuinely love when creators say " I love this product " and say it's not a sponsor. That's when you know the product is truly a good product!
Random. But no matter how I’m feeling whenever i see a new video by y’all it makes everything seem brighter. Than you for fun videos.
Snake Discovery is by far my favorite UA-cam channel
15:57 - well THAT was popular! Currently sold out, like 6 hours after this vid appeared!
That cage is absolutely amazing 😁 I want one!!
It’s sad that both green monitors didn’t survived they were lovely. As Clint always say : very few of wild caught reptiles have a chance of survival. So many factors like storage, parasites, dehydration, travel conditions etc....😢
But the 2 emerald tree boas are great even if Ed didn’t sound very hyped about them 😂. Did they still have some grow up to do or is it their definitive size ?
As always Emily did a wonderful job decorating this new enclosure. 👍👍
Yep 😢 I don’t know why Ed and Emily would buy wild caught…hopefully they learned their lesson
@@popp1040 More than likely was an opportunity to produce captive bred green monitors to help dwindle wild caught numbers.
Yeah, they mentioned wanting to breed them. A good way to decrease wild caught is to increase captive bred populations
These are beautiful! I’m not a snake owner but I love watching your videos and learning. I’m sorry, but if Emily didn’t say this was their fist I would have thought they were the same as Ed’s green tree pythons they put in the zoo. I don’t know the difference between them, I’ll have to go back and watch, I’m learning. Lol ❤
Boas and pythons do look alike, don't they? ETBs and GTPs actually fill the exact same niche on different continents, so they've evolved to similar appearances overall in a brilliant example of convergent evolution.
I think the plastic ledges are for relaxation and the universal rocks ledge is to help the animals shed, to me this enclosure improved so much!!
Nice, the peels are the best part!! You could name the boas after characters from the wizard of oz or the Wicked musical because of the emerald city.
This was a great video! Love that y’all were able to do this comparison! Love seeing years of improvements!
I think the green tee bow’s should be named Jeff and Jeff 2
i love how Ed took over in this video! Building the cage with Ed!
He's just such a shy bug when he is alone and building.
Beautiful cage, it's very visually appealing even without being decorated. A lot more stable too. It's a nice cage.
Honestly, for a Zoo setting I think the new one is better, but I'd imagine for a home setting the old design (only look wise) might be a bit nicer, I just prefer the looks. It looks more cozy
Emily could make me excited to watch paint dry!!!!!😊 and this is sooooo much better!🎉
Yes, my grandson is thrilled 😁! He drew a picture of one, free hand, and it looks great!!
Emerald Tree Boas are one of My Favorite Snakes
The new cage looks great and the boas looked very happy to be exploring their new home!
Might be nice to build a wheeled platform for the older cage so it matches the newer one more. It would also raise it up and make it moveable. If you put a rim on the platform it might also keep it from flexing as much too.
I love those nice enclosures. Nice update custom cages. I love the green snakes too
after watching your channel since freshman year of high school (im 20 now) i finally decided to try to convince my mom to let me get a snake! lets hope she says yes!!
I love for their names to be Bogie (Humphrey Bogart) and Bacall (Lauren Bacall). They need some really awesome unique names from one of the greatest love stories of our time for these beautiful snakes.
7:14 I love when she said oohh ty 😂
Ops srry not that time this time 7:22 😊
My favorite species since I was in grade school reading every book about snakes I could find in the library! Keeping one is beyond my means, so I always lose seeing them when I can.
Not just me that loves loves loooooooves the peely peel bit in those situations!!!
So sorry for your loss hugs for you both❤❤
I used to watch you guys a while back so glad I found you again! :D
Congrats on the boas!!!
This cage looks gorgeous! Snakes are so green and pretty, yay=3 Thank you for the video, have a wonderful day=3
Ed and Emily you guys are so awesome. Love your videos so much. Also love you guys ❤.
My favorite kind of snake - they're so beautiful!
I love these videos. I have been watching since mid-pandemic and the amount of growth you’ve experienced with the zoo, with your fan base/subscribers, I’m so happy to support you as a Patreon. We love you guys. You’re so awesome 💚🖤💚🖤💚-Hunter, Maddie and Aubrie’s mama
I love watching your videos.
And I wish I could work with you 1 day.❤❤❤
The fact that the cage comes with those rock ledges make me so excited and jealous! I really want something like that for a monitor, but I am not sure I have the courage to try building it myself. And I haven’t seen anything like that getting sold in Denmark
That new background is perfection.
I humbly submit Shrek and Fiona for names....the enclosure looks phenomenal!
8:33 Wish they made the tree/stump a much darker brown
