Is there a good go-to size for closed captioning?

CC pre-determines size, so there is no "size." However, it's recommended there be no more than 32 characters per line, approximately 12 words on the screen at any one time. One line of text at a time is easier to read, but two is acceptable if it takes two to finish a sentence or if there is a lot being said very quickly.
For subtitles, the rules are looser. You can decide what you prefer from an aesthetic perspective, but following the rules for CC when also dealing with subtitles is a good rule to follow. For subtitles, keeping your text to less than 10% of the screen is preferable. But there are no hard and fast rules with subtitles.

I still don’t understand. Should I have both? Do I need to do both myself or are either of them auto generated? If so does it do a good job or does it just put a load of gobbledygook because my accent is strong 😂
