I agree. Much better now. And they don't have to drive for hours, work their butts off, spend money to stay in the hotel, get up early, get right back to work, and drive hours to get home. And in all kinds of weather. Now they stay at the facility and help even more horses.

Everyone is doing a great job with the influx of horses. You can tell Dr. Lydia is over the moon with the new ultrasound. Thank you so much to the person who facilitated the procurement of that technology. It gives the vets a vast amount of knowledge on varioys issies witj the horses so they can make faster decisions on what to do with the horses that needed faster care. Thank you again. That chestnut gelding who needed the eye enucleation looks like a Morgan. And he looks like he's been well loved. He's a little cutie.
I wasn't keen on how Caleb chased the horse around the round pen. And kept hitting it with the reins to get it to move. And he is heavy-handed when turning. He looked very rushed. Of course, he could have just been nervous in front of everybody, too. Hailey took a much calmer approach. Her horse didn't look like it was running away from her, but rather, moving away in a calm manner.
Thank you all for everything you do for ALL animals.

I agree Kaleb has a somewhat hectic energy. Hopefully he finds more time to spend at Horse Plus and picks up more and more from Cory and takes on some of his more chill handling methods. He can get it csomed down, especially watching video playback might help.

In the 21st century this is truly sickening, especially from a super rich country. I'm in the UK where there is no live transport of horses for slaughter. Animals suffering in this condition would not be allowed entry to an auction. We have welfare inspectors at auction entry points. Our animals are passported and microchipped by law. Get a grip USA.

    • @dianekruger5977
      @dianekruger5977 Місяць тому

The problem is, people that should oversee these things to protect the animals probably get paid to well to do the right thing.
The good thing is, after being banned from auction, Horse Plus is able to save more horses through the buyout program. Especially ones with broken legs etc. it's sad that former owners can't spend the money to have the poor horses that need to be euthanized, and euthanize them.
But Amish people are like that. That's usually where the big draft horses come from.
Then you have what's called backyard breeders who breed horses or ponies, not caring about confirmation issues.@@kimsutherland977

I did try to be a vet tech, but the sad was too much for me, so I went into dog training and rescue. I did dog rescue via the Flat coated retriever Society of America, and ended up being the National coordinator for 5 years. It was hard. As a small population breed, we were lucky enough to have less than you have to deal with. I had to go to shelters and look at dogs who were identified as flat coats as shelter staff who were indeed not. I had to learn to look to not look them in the eye, or any dog when I walked through the shelter. Once I passed that position on to another person, I did not stop. We took in 40 Katrina dogs and I ended up with 5 in my van. The I heard a cough. By the time we got home they were all coughing. Thankfully Weim rescue took the lovely sweet chubby weim, and I ended up with 3 sick dogs quarantined in my home. All vet care was via donation from our fundraiser, and our local contact with vets. We had two with heartworm, and extreme weight loss. One was a lovely sweet pit who unfortunately was a cat killer so after she was cleared she went to a responsible home. Another with heartworm also had demodex, and was half his normal weight, so I kept him in my home. He had issues with food and toy aggression which were rather easily overcome once he knew I was the boss bitch and he would always have food and chewies. One day down the road when he was still with me I heard a noise through the wall I could not identify. I went into the adjoining room and found him burying bones and chewies in the back of a closet. It was hilarious. He was a good boy. He went to live with my daughter's family. That was in 2005, so I know all those dogs are passed on now, but they will never leave my heart.

It wasn't shown in the episode, though it was shown in the Members' almost live intake, but one of the reasons they were preg-checking that mare that turned out to be pregnant was because she had a relatively large udder, large enough they thought that she was close to foaling or had just been separated from a foal. So that could mean that even though she's only 5, this might be her second foal. Sad to think, but so happy that she has found her way to Horse Plus.

Hoping there will be more footage of the hoarding rescue . Basically of any of the rescues . Much more interesting than to hear about the amazing ultrasound equipment over and over and over . Otherwise I completely love everything else and frequently recommend friends and family to watch your channel .

Dr Lydia makes things that I don’t understand and really not interested in - interesting and speaks in ways I can understand and that in turn will make me a better horse owner in the future. And I love how passionate and excited she is about what she does and able to do !! Plus I’m very excited about Sapphires progress. I was very worried about her and I’m sure Dr Lydia saved her life !!! So awesome ! ❤️🐴
Also- was NOT impressed on Caleb continuing hitting that horse with the reins !! Not at all !!!

I love pigs, I wish her the best of homes. I hope someone is visiting with her. She looks like she needs some foot work. She need a bath, pigs love water & mud but a water bath, they usually enjoy❤. Pigs can be very sweet & enjoy human interaction, if they grew up around people as a family pet! Squeeling is fear, she doesn't understand what's going on. Strange people, strange place. She probably never been anywhere other then where she grew up! I have raised pigs for FFA back in the day & also had a potbelly pig - Miss George - looked a lot like this pig. She hung out with me every day, she was my out door foot stool outside. Lol😅 She loved sorting out recyclables, I didn't teacher her that, she would get in & rip open the bags & sort them all by herself in two different piles, well I called them patches. Only because they weren't stacked! cans from plastic bottles. She was always so proud of herself, when I would go out too see what she was doing. She loved the UPS guys, they always wou)d give her a biscuits & take her Picture😂 I hope you get to know her. Before you find her a home. Pigs can have fun personalities & are very smart!!! ❤

I had an engineer work for me who took issue with the word healthy. People can be healthy, but food cannot be healthy, food is healthful. So now for the last 20 years I have to consider every healthy statement and realize that, if anything, statements are healthful!
Now, why did I remember what that engineer said once and forgot PLENTY of info from my 12 years of English teachers? No clue... Maybe it will also stick for you!

If that poor Belgian with the bad knee was a TB Broodmare she would have been kept and bred. So sad. Glad your ultra sound is working out great!! 😃👍👍 I hate to hear a mare is pregnant but I am glad that she didn't go on to slaughter and her baby has a chance to be born and in safety. Thank you for what you do.

To the vet's - first of all ur amazing!
wanted to ask if u guy's already r doing this or even can?.... have u ever saved a horses skull or other bones for ur education center?
I know this might be difficult todo but it might helpful to have a visual of some injuries ect... for ppl in Washington, students or just anyone who comes there to see that kind of visual representation of injuries or even more rare bone abnormalities.
I just thought sence u guy's receive such an array of horses, with all kinds of problems, that unfortunately need the last act of kindness... it might be a unique way to involve any local taxidermy or any students and also honor the horses life by spreading awareness of these conditions. Of course i know that this can't be done with every horse but maybe unique or extreme cases.
    Just a thought and ?
    Love u all! ❤

As I watched this my thoughts are that your place would be a terrific teaching opportunity for veterinary students. The variety of medical issues you deal with in one buyout day is probably more than what comes through a vet hospital. And Dr Lydia would be a great teacher. And it would give you more help. I don’t know how something like that works but Have you ever reached out to any vet schools and made the offer

I will see if I çan get more info, to make it easier to locate. From comments made on it, it shows them processing the horses, probably for human consumption, leather, etc.
I only watched a bit of it before it got to processing part.
