Aren’t there any law to protect animals ? Fines should sent to owners who don’t feed properly their animals ! Need grass and good hay and cereals....It is the basic needs of horses. Administration or others controls should be done after investigations... Animals must be protected before bad treatments ...too late for some of them. Life deserve respect ! This is beyond sad. I live in South Africa, which is a 3rd world country. Even though we have our fair share of animal cruelty. It is never tolerated in South Africa. They would be shut down. Our auctions here are closely monitored by the SPCA. I am discussed in how little law you have when it comes to protecting the welfare of your animals. Your law enforcements don't seem to no right from wrong. Very disappointing on their behalf. Thank you for trying to make a difference. May God Bless you all .

Federally, We do have laws to protect the cute “pet” animals, like dogs and cats. Reptiles, fish, and animals considered “livestock” (basically cows, horses, pigs, any animal you would think of being on a farm) are not protected by the Animal Rights Act. Other than that, individual states have specific laws and regulations on what constitutes as animal cruelty. A lot of people are still prosecuted for mistreating horses, but not in these situations. I’m guessing because it’s hard to find someone to prosecute.

@fionacole887 the last sentence of your comment opened my mind to the realisation that with social media we can feel lots of emotions about things that are important. We can make a post or just like, then go onto the next thing. What will it take for Horse Plus supporters to really do something about the issues we find so important? In this thread the issue is legislation to prevent animal owners castrating, with no anaesthesia, their own animal. Imagine the suffering this would cause. If the animal had a hernia it is likely the intestines of the horse would fall out and the horse would ⁹die a horrible, excruciating death. So, can we help Horse Plus in a way that could really stop owners castrating their animals? I invite ideas from all Horse Plus Humane Society people to throw in some ideas and discuss.

Excellent video showing what Horse Plus is all about. If people want to OWN horses (actually any animal) they need to be 'all in' from start to finish. ...realizing they are responsible for the feeding, sheltering, vet care, farrier care...all of it, for the lifetime of the animal.

    • @magicpensel9548
      @magicpensel9548 10 місяців тому +1

I do agree with the spirit of what you are trying to say, but not really the letter of it. You are responsible for the animal, but I don't belive it should be a lifetime or noting kind of deal. Say a horse trainer traning up as selling the horses later. That's not lifetime care, but as long as it's done resposibly there is noting wrong with that. Or you buy a horse planning to keep them as long as they live, but stuff happens and you are no longer capable of giving propper care. Finding someone else to take over would then be the best thing to do

This is incredibly sad. The horses look so sad, lost and in pain. Shame on the owners who allowed these horses in this condition. I'm thankful they did sell them to you. The auction house and those who tried to prevent the rescue of these horses need to be exposed. Heads need to roll on thus one.

I hope you find a property to rent to stage your operation. I have a feeling that you may be overwhelmed with the number of horses you receive now that the word is out. It's a fantastic way to flush out the hidden broken down horses, people may be ashamed of. The mission is to help the horses. I believe you did your part and then some. Bless your hearts, your team is a beast. I admire your tenacity, and compassion. The beautiful black stallion is so majestic. His life was hell for sure til this point. I'm amazed at what you all are able to do. ❤

This was such a great story telling video and I was so proud of how professional all of the staff acted when confronted by people trying to stop you. Kory was so calm and polite at the staging area, but I was confused about one thing when the trailers had to be moved. I never knew you could learn to drive a truck with a trailer " in your mind", awesome !! Luv you guys and those horses are so lucky you were there for them and thanks to Dr. Lydia for coming out.

Used to train bus drivers. With a trailer you would have to think ' if I turn truck this way the trailer will react that way' is totally different from a bus, a bus reaction is just like your car. Would be best to be trained to drive a trailer but it is possible with the correct mindset to think it through.

Riveting coverage of the entire, incredible dilemma and the real win that came out of it. I sincerely hope that the suffering and cruelty the poor horse with the butchered castration endured will never be felt by another horse because of HPH's refusal to let it go unnoticed. I hope laws are changed, enforced and the penalties for cruelty unbearable for the perpetrators. I hope more awareness means we can keep these auction interception days strong with our donations, grants and corporate sponsorships. So happy to support your mission, even in a small way.

I'm shocked and horrified that people can allow these beautiful horses to get to such a deplorable state. If one cannot take care of an animal any longer, seek help. There must be hundreds of horse rescue organisations in the states that can assist. I don't know what to make of the auction house, but it's clearly just a money making machine for them, without a human bone in their bodies, shame on them. Prayers to everyone who made that day possible and keep up the great work. Horse angels 😇🐴💞

What a fantastic rescue! It's criminal that you were harassed and not allowed to attend the auction. Tennessee seems to have either weird laws or none at all for the protection of horses and other animals. PS The dramatic background music gave me a headache - a small price to pay I suppose 🙂

A big thank you to the vet who came out last minute to help the horses before transportation. I loved this episode and it appears that Tawnee thinking outs side the box was extremely succesful. Thank you so much for your passion, earnestness, and honesty. I wish I lived by you so I could come over to volunteer and I was younger, because I would. I grew up on a farm and ranch, I love animals and I try to do my part by rescuing and training my own Service Dogs and my Rescue kitty. ( I am only allowed to have these two and I am the only resident in my double building Senior complex that is.) My older brother has been a large and small Vet for 40+years. I have my own mini-rescue at my place thirty miles away and he supports me in this by giving me advice and counsel when I try to find new owners for the ones that are left to run wild.

At the last auction a horse was bought and the man tried to castrate it in the parking lot of the auction. The horse had a hernia so his intestines came out. This rescue had to buy the cut open horse to put it too sleep. The auction did not want this getting out and when they found the the rescue had video and was showing it to get a petition going and get change in laws. That's why they banned them and all that did was cost the auction commission money. Go watch the video. See what happens in Tennessee.

Have you put up flyers at feed stores and farm supply stores, with you offer of cash? If you haven't checked into it, might be good idea, if suppliers will let you.
I worked at a local Tractor Supply up till last year. They allowed that.

Being originally from near Jackson Tennessee I am appalled at how backward and “good old boy” attitude this beautiful state still is! Big Lick torture of gorgeous Tennessee walking horses still allowed to go on! Auctions where kill buyers are allowed to buy horses to send to Mexico to be slaughtered for human consumption in Europe. And the treatment of these animals from careless owners starving them, neglecting horrific injuries, absolutely disgusting that Tennessee lawmakers and citizens simply seem to not care. Or lawmakers maybe bribed by kill buyers, auction owners, big lock participants. Something isn’t right when an auction and law enforcement make such an uproar over a horse rescue simply trying to save some horses from slaughter! Law enforcement being so obvious in their selection to “enforce the law” against a rescue group while completely disregarding the abuse, inhumane treatment of horses and other equine in the auction! Did you catch the part that started this? At maybe the last auction a kill buyer tried to held a stallion “backyard “ style. Ended up asking horse plus to buy the horse as it was dying !! They did and immediately had their own onsite vet euthanize it since it’s guts were literally laying on the ground! So that was actually caught on their auction video that they always do. I guess the kill buyers and auction owners got pissed that they got caught torturing a stallion. It’s illegal to transport a stallion so gelding them at auctions is allowed and done frequently by non-vet or medical people. Just tie it down and cut its balls off in the parking lot! No anesthesia no pain meds then put that bleeding animal on a livestock hauler and take off from Tennessee to Mexican border!!!! Gee Wally isn’t that swell!!! These auctions these kill buyers these laws need changed! Oh and some horses go from auction to auction! For weeks bought resold make that extra buck while providing minimal feed, water, no vet care for I’ll or injured animals!! Got to be stopped!

My old mare did great on mash for over a decade after her teeth were gone. It was a little labor intensive especially in the winter up here in the north, but the heated pet bowl worked well for her. It was time consuming when towards the end I had to feed her 4 times a day. Being the boss mare, she hated having to be separated from her herd much of the day in order to eat enough. It was a lot easier once senior feeds became available in my area. Before that I was cooking more for my horse than for my kids!

Such fortitude!! I have watched and prayed for Horse Plus, watching your organization grow. The legacy you are leading, now country wide, I pray will continue to expand. I no longer can afford to donate, but I watch all the ads in your videos to help as I can. Your logic and attitude should spread far and wide...these animals are all our concern of their well-being because their owners were not...very sad and disturbing. Until laws change for the humanity these animals deserve, may your organization move forward! I am so proud of each of you, and nearly cried when I saw Dr. Lydia (who, I'm sure, is so busy with the new elephants) there to help you...may God Bless!

I hope you offered her an interview (I assume you're still looking for a full time vet to be on staff. It was nice seeing Dr. Lydia again. It was really hard seeing the condition some of those horses were in. I don't know if the one that had the cancer was in a lot of pain, but if not I'm sure he got a few days to enjoy a pasture and eat some grass. All those donkeys together had to have been total chaos. That white one definitely didn't like being groped. It's a good thing that panel fence was there. He rang it like he meant it.
