Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2: 13 Minutes - 13 Miles

- SJD impression alert 🚨 : This is a first impression video of the latetest running super shoe from Mizuno. I frequently make "5 on 5" vidoes, which are 5 minutes in the first 5 miles of any particular shoe. For the Wave Rebellion Pro 2, I needed more time to find the words. I took these shoes out for 3 runs. A half marathon paced run, the 13 mile progressive long run seen in this video, and a sharp 5k to mile workout a few days later.
This video is broeken into two segments. The long run and then the post run thoughts. I cut out a lot of rambling about the Boston marathon and how the training is going because I figured anyone watching this only wants to hear about the shoe.
If you're interested in the shoe you can get it here:

If you want to know how the 5k block is going, I will be making a "Breaking 18" video before June 9th. However, I did create membership tiers and if you sign up, I upload coach's calls and how the training is going along with other content. You can join here.

4:53 - so you can heel lock the shoe, just not in a traditional manner. What I did was skip the 2nd to last eyelet and go to the last one, then went back to the 2nd to last to make the loop so I could pass the laces through there. I thought this shoe was too loose for me until I did that.
Brilliant - going to do this tomorrow
I’m not 100% sure that was an SJD impersonation at 8:00, but if it was, you absolutely slayed it! Onward and upward!! Ok never mind I am 100% sure 😂
Can’t believe I didn’t catch it the first time around….guess it’s been too long since I’ve seen an SJD shoe review but that was spot on.
Half the kids he has so I might be half the man
Really channeling the inner SJD 😂
Thanks for making these videos. You are my favourite running youtuber.
Thank you, Kevin. I’m going to stash this comment away for a rainy day and read it again when I need to lift my spirit
You are Great! Thanks a lot! Very Good review!!!
thank you!
Thanks for the heads up on deal on this shoe. Last week I got my pair delivered. I had run in TTS in a demo shoe and 1/2 up will also work with a bit more space in front of my toes. Tighten the laces so midfoot hold is great.
🙌🏼 hope you love them as much as I do
Got mine last week or so. Thanks for the hook up. Can't wait to get some miles on em as I ease back into work.
PB city! We gotta match when we catch that shake out down the road
@@MidLifeRunner fax... we definitely must!!!
I am now sold on this shoe. Have been interested for a long time and people have suggested it to me, but the way you described it sounds exactly what I like and want.
Upon further review - still amazing, especially at faster stuff. True to size might work better than half size up without much heel padding to help lock down and no racers loops .
Thanks, Andrew!
Loved the fact you put some time in , ran at different paces and reported on how it feels , not that different from the first one (especially the walking bit) deffo bring a old pair of throwaways to a major marathon. Ran a PB in New York in the first version (at my pace not that hard) , but I did .. and that shoe was underrated, in fact I was the only person I saw on the day with it on. I am not comfortable running sub-7's yet. I am working on both my weight and being coached with focus on the half for the fall / Autumn, If I make the same improvement this year that I did last (would make me as comfortable at 6:30's as I am currently at 7:30's) . Then I will hit the buy button on a full Mizuno rotation as I will do the shoe justice. on a side note I still have a box fresh pair of the originals in that Japanese calligraphy black and white colourway.
That’s so awesome JBs- just saw your comment on Ko’s recap with coaches. That’s solid advice I need to take as well. I have to go in as andrew or midlife runner but I likely can’t do both
This is my best race day shoes so far😊
I ran a 5k in it today and it was fantastic . I absolutely love it
It makes me sad they don't make this in my size. Hopefully they won't change v3 too much and either fix the sizing issue or just make bigger sizes available. Great review as always, can't wait to see how your 5k goes 👍💪
Thanks Chris ! I’m going to strap a GoPro to my forehead so I’ll share it with you
I am landing on the Speed bump like you in the V1 but it does seem to shred the outsole 😂
Would really like to meet the person behind the idea of this shoe. Brilliant.
That shoe looks like pure…murder. But in a good way. Like, I just murdered that half marathon. Yeah?? Anyway. Glad you found moksha with it!
Lots of crime being committed on these streets, Nick. Just checked mizuno website and confirmed the shoe off listed as “very violent”
There he is...😂
💪🏼
I got my 5k in a couple weeks, and got sucked into doing the Soldier Field 10k the next weekend. You mentioned going for sub 18, what is your current 5k PR? Good luck!
I’ve never run a 5k race- done some time trials early on, working it down from 22:35 ->21:15->20:18->19:35->18:57->18:10… however that was at the track and I didn’t have track mode, so maybe it was 18:30?? I’m trying to break 18 based on the feeling I can hold 5:45 for 3.12 miles. It will be challenging in the heat and humidity for the last mile but we I’m excited for the challenge . What’s your 5k PB? I am going to run a couple of 5ks and then a 10k
@@MidLifeRunner I broke 18:00 last year with a 17:50 during my first try last summer. Ran raster pace for another 5k but the course had a ton of frustrating as my watch pace was 5:40. If you have time, a few sauna sessions of 15-30 minutes will def help with acclimation.
That’s a good way to explain how a shoe feels, “disappears on MyFeet” 🤔. Interesting
It’s like it doesn’t even exist
That’s a metaphor (is it a metaphor?) that I've always used to describe the shoes I’ve loved the most.
I have the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 is perfect for me and I am a heel striker and slow runner.. It saves my calfs and Achilles tendon. V2 same..?
I haven’t tried v1 but the foam is very soft yet very responsive and bouncy too
Any tips for heel strikers? I have a pair. My ankles complain sometimes
I am a heel striker and slow runner but the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 and V2 save my Achilles Tendon and low calf..
Because impossible to heel lock.. Is the Insole removable?
It did not look like it. Seemed pretty stiched in
No better way to test a shoe than to run 13 miles at 1:00/mile pace!
AKA zone 1 😂
Dallas area? Richardson maybe?
Where in running is San Antonio. Are you from Texas as well?
I have in laws there. Your video showed parks and paved pafhs that look like Richardson@MidLifeRunner
Running through the clouds like Lando Calrissian...
Just your every day smooth talking smuggler 😂
there you go.., I’m going for sub 24, maybe 23:30, go get it…
22:58 Matthias! I can already see it
Tried to get on Amazon but I am in the EU..
:/
My biggest question about the shoe is what happens when you’re dead tired in the late miles of marathons, which is when even the pros heel strike.
I’m taking them for the 5k and likely a 10k. I think I could do it in these shoes
