- Race Recap of the fastest 4900m I have ever run. To be fair, it was billed as a 5k but the course was 100m short. Is it a still 5K PB? I discuss in the video along with Harry Potter references and whatever else came to mind.
If you follow the channel then you know I am a non-serious runner. That being said, as a content creator, I find myself unable to avoid cliche - swimming in the triteness of "Summer Speed." This is my second 5k of the summer. Inspired by Nick Bester's recap videos, yet not owning a Insta360 camera, I do a race recap 400m split at a time.

When I think a PB is in the cards, I intentionally setup my Garmin w/ Pace Pro for the exact race distance. So even if the course is short, I'll run through the finish line until my watch beeps. That way my PB is "officially" captured in Garmin Connect

The struggle is real. 🐿️ the kid in front of me was running in ASICS generic from academy or Payless . Looked like Novablast 4
This is typical of smaller races that course happens to be short but it is still a good time and can give some indication of what you can do for longer races.

@@MidLifeRunner yup its saved in the cloud, while I do not publish any selfies etc (same if me and thee get a shot next year at Boston) I save them with a view to hardcopy them and have them at home .. just a child of the 60's I guess. ..kids will go 'who are these nerds' and chuck em in the trash when I am dust

You wouldn't do that! But I think you need to run a straight 5k course that has some competition for you! You may break 18 then! 🎉 Nice racing still, but get up on the kids in front of you and dont let them go Mr. Young Master!! 💪💪 and oh yeah... strava didnt give you a 5k pb soo... nice 4900m race! 😉😁
Agreed! I’m going to have my son film me at the track on a bike for a time trial in about 10 days. I want to get a true gauge of the fitness.
Next time channel some Cole Trickle and use the outer banking on that blind 90 turn. As Harry said “…if you go on the outside, you CAN hold it!”

Was the course officially measured, or are you basing the measurement on your watch? GPS can be off.
I doubt it was officially measured . It’s a local company putting these races on. I need to pay the big bucks for a nice road race 5k or 10k.
Those nike shoes are like rocks 🤦🏻♂️😆😆 With all the corners and change of elevation, you would have easily gotten a better time in a road 5k 🤷🏻♂️.
Yeah I’m doing a 5k time trial in a couple of weeks to get a better idea of what I’m actually capable of. I see a lot of park run videos and Nick Bester or Ben is running 5ks and it’s open road . I need some of that in my life
