The two cylinder Fiat is the most mellow sounding engine I've ever heard

I've got a 1983 Subaru Rex with a 660 inline twin, 360deg crank and it sounds like the fiat but way more sharp and mechanical, hard to explain. Nice to drive though!
That feeling when a motorcycle engine from the 1960s revs higher and sounds better than a Formula 1 engine from 2020 😭😭

The RS125 two stroke sounds exactly like every other 125 two-stroke.

MaZs Zer0 The gt350 will track with lower end porches and Ferrari’s for half the price though. Its engine sound is up there with the lfa as one of the most heavenly sounding engines of all time, it has a manual which are dying out, and it is one of the best bang for buck horsepower cars out there. The gt500 is even faster and has more hp than a hellcat and we will likely see it run faster than many “bargain” supercars on some tracks. The only issue i have is that theres a bit too much plastic on the interior, i wish there was more high quality materials such as carbon fiber on the interior.

I'm more a "vette guy than a mustang guy, but can't deny that the ford voodoo V8 is not only one of the best sounding actual US V8, but also one capable of insane RPM for such type of engine (some ppl with proper tune reach 8.5k even 9k)

That RC146 engine is turning over 300 times a second. The inlet and exhaust valves are opening 150 times per second. Amazing stuff. Great video as always Visio Racer.
And those have to be about the cutest little valves that eyes have ever been set upon.

Haha yeah. The valve heads were about the size of 5p coins if I read it right in Classic Bike magazine. Mind boggling stuff

Engine with an uneven cylinder and firing system. 3 and 5 cylinder are the best funky engine, at least for me 😁
I desperately hope that vehicle manufacturers will shift towards modular inline engines as they shift away from v8s and v6s.
Please, please, I want inline sixes, fives, and threes along with our four cylinders. Throw in some mild hybrid systems to replace alternators and starting motors, and give us a little boost of power from a stop, or push us out of a bend like KERS, and I'd be hella happy.

An engine worth consideration is the 3.5 litre V8 that Rover started using in their P5(B) and P6, back in 1968, an engine that Buick didn't want.
As a youngster I used to see/hear these cars on the road........ nothing sounds quite like that deep rumble under full throttle when taking off from a junction (or whatever).

In 1968 Gurney weslake 302 cubic inches (5.0L) Ford GT was the fastest car at Le Mans 24 beat everything there was and then again the following year in 1969 Ford was back with the same car and beat everybody again then again 50 years later Ford came back again and this time with a 3.5 L engine beat everybody in the world as Ford has won more races in the entire world than any other car manufacturer ever made and there is nothing in the whole wide world that ever sounded as good as a bundle of snakes
The GT350 and GT350R have the one of most amazing sounding engines known to us! It so distinctive and yet so easily recognized! I’d put it up there with the 787B,LFA and the Lamborghini V12 in the Muria!
I think as a funky sounding engine is the old Air Cooled Flat 4 used in the VW beetles and the VW vans. Although it comes to the exhaust tips giving it the almost whistle long note. Do have to admit it’s pretty funky and really fun and notable!

The sound of a two stroke is definitely an acquired taste. Some people hear it and are reminded of yard work, some people hear it and think of the terror and thrill of that abrupt throttle and power curve of a two stroke.
The first one is literally the generic forza v12 swap😂

I have a 2007 Aprilia RS125? Fully race tuned (42bhp on rolling road dyno ) with an Arrow exhaust fitted and I love the sound it makes I’ve been known to start it up just to hear it! It’s a beautiful bike the balance is perfect. Best sound in the world though is a Brisca formula 1 Stock Car they have small block Chevy V8 engines with hardly any silencing the noise they make is unreal especially when there’s 35 of them on a quarter mile shale (dirt) oval.

The two best exhaust notes I heard Kel Carruthers on the Honda 4 250cc 1962 Bathurst and Agostini aboard MV 3 500cc at Avalon 1976. Both venues in Australia. Cheers

The BRM V16. A 1.5L V16 with Twin Superchargers and capable of revving to 12 000+ RPM in 1947! It is not only funky but one of the best sounding vehicles ever created. If you have never heard of it look it up on UA-cam I cannot recommend it enough, its spine tingling.
I used to drive a twin port 1600, 1973 vw beetle with aftermarket pipes and people who heard and saw it smiled always.😆

i like how you're implying that it's a production car of any sort. there's only 3 of them dude, and none of them are road legal in the slightest. and one of them has 200hp more than the other two. "stock" isn't a word that applies to that car.

I´m in love with the Voodoo´s GT350 engine!!!!! This is a real beast on tracks and roads!!!!! In addition to the legendary Formula 1´s V12 engines of the late 1980s and early 1990s, I grew up watching those races and that is why i´m addicted to those engines.

Opel Kadett GT/E hillclimb cars sound funky but beautiful to me. Such a deep note for a 4 banger.
I have an zundapp KS 50 and it's sound it very funky (my opinion) it's an 2 stoke 50cc engine making 2hp to an 4 or 5 speed transmission and every time you shift, it sounds so funky

I find the sound of the 5L V10 PD TDI funky...! A V10, with Unit injectors and gears drive the camshafts and everything else (generator etc) and that in a car of the upper class.... Nah! In Germany we call this and its smaller brother (R5 PD TDI in the VW T5) "Kinderrassel", which means children's rattle!

I had the Aprilia RS as I got my first license with 16 years and it totally smashed all of my friends 125s! It´s just an awesome machine and super reliable for extreme (for a 125) driving. I really miss this thing

Hondas v4 vtech engine is an interesting engine too as it runs on two valves per cylinder until 7000 rpm when it opens up the extra 2, running at 4 valves per cylinder changing the engine note from a burbly v8 esque sound to a screaming inline 4 like note.

I play the Mclaren Honda V12 cd when driving my Honda Ridgeline. The RC211V is what I hear in my helmet while riding my SV1000S. I am no Nicky Hayden but it is his bike I hear, not Rossi's. That engine was designed as an out of balance V4 with the 5th cylinder balancing it out.

The engine in the sauber c11 sounds very aggressive on low revs, along with the twin kkk turbos. In the high revs tho it sounds like a meaty v8

Yamaha V-Max 4 800 snowmobile. It has a 2-stroke inline-4 that just sounds savage
I wonder how the GT350 would sound with equal lenghts! Would it sound like an angry 4-banger like most Ferrari's? I've noticed this with cars like the Lotus Esprit. Stock exhaust sound very flat, like a 4 cylinder, but with aftermarket ULH's it has this exquisite mix of a classic crossplane V8 at lower revs and it slowly shifts to a flatplane V8 sound as it climbs on revs. Simply beautiful.
Something I've also wondered is how BMW's recent crossplane V8 Turbo sounds like a flatplane V8. You should've included that as it's very unique on its own way.
I think the MGB straight 4 is a very funky sounding engine. it is so burbly at idle and so raspy and throaty at revs. Very off for an inline 4 but such a beautiful sound.

A really wicked sounding engine is a 6.0L LS with a 4.8L LS crank making a 5.5L. it revs over 9k and has a funky sound.

How about the Ducati Panigale? That's a very interesting sounding V4. While speaking Ducati, I cannot go without mentioning the Desmosedici as well. But if I'm being honest, nearly any Ducati does things to me. 😂

The old vespas (vespa gtr, pk 50, for exemple), are very diferent sounding when compared to normal 2 strokes. I have a pk50xls, it really sounds diferent.
I wonder if there are aftermarket equal length headers for the voodoo and coyote engine ? I'm sure there are a lot of people which would be thrilled to have their mustang sound like a ferrari
