Honestly the intro and outro music make this channel 2x as good
I got a Ford 300/4.9 straight 6 that tops out at 4000 RPM stock. Was gonna get a built 300/4.9 that clocked 5500 to 5900 RPM at the shift points (yes my truck is an automatic)
The Rolls Royce L-series (6 1/4 litre and 6 3/4 litre V8s... although many call them the 6.25 and 6.75 litre :-) ) revved to around 4,200 rpm.
At the other end of the spectrum, the original 1948 Citroen 2CV revved to about 4,000 rpm, with peak power of 9 (NINE!) horsepower at 3,800rpm.
Mark Walker, who built the Darracq has put together or restored a number of very low revving cars over the last 30 years. My favourite is the GN Thunderbug with a 5.2 litre Vee twin built on a very early Riley crankcase. For the Brits Mark is one of the family that founded Walkers Crisps in Leicester.
Lowest-revving? Nope. Maybe for vehicles, but I've seen a stationary gasoline engine (originally built to power a grain mill, I think) that had a cylinder something like 3ft long. It's maintained and used at a museum in Albert City, IA. If I remember correctly, its max rpm is something like 16. Not 160; not 1600. Just 16.
the rev limiter on my 89 mustang is somewhere around 6200 rpm which is also where i get valve float (non interference engine so this is fine)
i did get the revs to around 8000 once when i was still learning the car and went for 3rd and got 1st. it backfired and blew the intake hose off the throttle body, car still ran like a champ though once i reconnected everything
0:50 - that’s a proper starter motor!
4:29 I am so fooocking impressed :O
It would be nice to see of the old Wisconsin engine mounted on a car. Some of those only maxed out at 900 RPM. Tons of torque though.
I like that the gas gauge on the v10 was low during the take off. Very realistic of real life conditions!
The days before mufflers were awesome. You could singe the eyebrows of peasants as you screamed by at 20mph
Awesome video, one of my favorites 100%.
The Darracq run at the end was quite radical!
Really like your channel! Always something new in the engine department 👌
Nice video. Just one request please try and level out the volume throughout the video. Also thanks for helping me get some ideas on what I want to do with my first project car
Some real torque monsters out there
when you backfire so much that you need a dude with an extinguisher standing by
The Napier Railton: In terms of Brakes, we have no brakes... or grip... or sanity
The V10s sounds kinda beautiful.
Even at the low rpm
Especially inside
Another significant limit on the rev limit on engines is the speed the piston is moving at inside the cylinders, very few engines are able to get past the 25 meters/s 'barrier'
I think your definition of low revving is different than mine
I really enjoy your videos
Still more revs than pixels of this video

"Why don't we just park it on the asphalt so the grass doe-"
"Look we already hired the guy what's done is done"
I'm so excited the Ford 300 six was included. My buddy idled his down to about 50 rpm before it choked off
My 1989 Trabant 601:
Inline Twin Two Stroke
1:50 Premix

26Hp
Air Cooled
7,2:1 Compression Ratio
Redline 4200 RPM
my 1991 fiat 126 bis 700cc also 26hp and 5000rpm redline but peak torque at 2000rpm
'Only' 6000 rpm.
*90s ford explorer attempting to rev over 3500 rpm, about to fly apart*
Did is see correctly: Those RAM's had 3 Speed automatic Transmission? So you were driveing constantly in transmission Torque converter?
The Ford V10 was an alternative to the Powerstroke. Not the Cummins. That's Dodge.
Some guy in 1910: makes 200kmh in something that looks like instant suicide capsule
Me 200years later in e30 324d with max speed of 165kmh: wait what? 😳
Love the intro. So neat.
Low revs ? More like comfy revs - w -
yessss you understand the feel of a sleepy V8 - w -
1000 RPM, 25 mph, 4th gear, flat ground. Oil pressure is still good at that speed, and my 302 truck V8 is still 250 RPM away from lugging. Just don't floor it and it'll happily give you a 25-60 acceleration time of a whole minute if you crack the throttle a bit more lmao. It'll holler strong at 3750, you can stand on the pedal after 2400, but at 1500, it's a large sleepy horse.
I like to hit 180mph at 2000rpm, look how much fuel i could preserve :P
love that noise on 2:00
1:42 The Ford 6.8 V10 was an alternative to the Powerstroke diesel. Cummins diesels were in the HD Dodge Rams
Skip to 5:40 this is where fun begins! One of your greatest vids!
You finally voiced your videos Congratulations
Been doing that for 3 years already, but thanks
@@VisioRacer Don't stop what you are doing you have Passion for this
Can you do a video on engines with articulated rods? That Brutus has me very intrigued.
Yes, I will definitely do that
