Idustrial style Cabinets for the Garage // Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- I am going to build some garage storage, but I dont what it to look like kitchen storage, so I am gonna use steel! I also want these cabinets to be about to be broken down for easier transport. I will weld parts of the cabinet with my HPT tig welder that I don't know how to use, and then I will put all the welded pieces together with nuts and bolts. Im hoping for a cool looking storage solution. I hope you enjoy the build
"I filmed that before I filmed this." No, no, no. I filmed this before I filmed (and made) that. Make more sense? 😁
That this before filmed filmed
I appreciate not having music. If there is music I typically mute it and turn on closed caption and hopefully not miss the commentary. Nice build!
Thanks for the response! I really appreciate the feedback!
Same!! I hate that music. Especially when it's so loud!
Agreed. No music. I don’t really want to hear farting sounds, but I think I’d prefer it to music. If you feel tempted to use music, stuff a lav mic in your shorts and let her rip.
I prefer no excessive music, it’s better to have dialog about your process
Great feedback! Thankyou!
No music! Please.
Love your ideas & presentation. Look forward to seeing the rest of the build.
Thanks for the feedback and kind words! I appreciate it! Part 2 is very high on the list!
I say no music. It’s a good time for the personal talk during the quick fabrication. Enjoyed it
Thanks for the feedback. Im finding most people feel as you do. Super great input. Thanks!
So, instead of grinding up hardware that really can’t be used for anything else afterward, just spin a wingnut onto that bolt, then the nut you plan to weld. The wings will position the nut just as well as the washer, provide all the clearance you need to tack the nut, with no sacrifice of any hardware.
Bolts are pretty cheap, but this is great advice. Saves time and time is money.
For the weld nut trick, skip the hex nut and flat washer just use a flange nut and size the hole with a countersink, 82 or 90 degree doesn't matter, just so the flare of the flange nut sits on the chamfer of the hole size then TIG it just as you did, works slick I've done it many times for car bodies and gas tanks on custom chassis very similar to what you're doing just saves one or two steps in a bit of time, Nice work there keep it up.
No music. Great video. Thanks.
Enjoyed the video and your "just do it" enthusiasm. Stopping thinking and starting doing is still a leap for some of us.
On cutting hobby sized structural steel "sticks" to length and reasonable angles, a portable metal-cutting bandsaw will beat that angle grinder in quick order. The cuts may still require some truing up till you develop skill and method with the saw, but cutting chips rather than making dust will always be faster. The bandsaw doesn't require wearing a dust mask either.
Not bad!!! As a union carpenter i would approve!
Also, NO music. Maybe add a intro and outro but the sound of the fab work is pleasing!
Thanks for the stamp of approval and feedback!
Very interested to see the drawer boxes in there. Great video man
Thanks! Im pretty interested to see how it turns out too! 😬
genuinely impressed on the level of editing and though that was taken during the filming, this was super fun to watch!!
Thanks! Its a lot of work! Glad to hear its enjoyable!
Professional welder here!
We actually do use templates like that where I work as well as simple dog points that we can put in a welding table that basically do the same thing.
Clever thinking, good looking welds in the end. Really impressed.
Its always nice to see comments from craftsmen who can tell me I’m not out in left field! Thanks for the support!
Love the go-getter attitude. Without significant welding experience, you did some excellent work and put together a very nice video with great commentary. You have a new subscriber. Keep kicking ass!
Thank you! Such a great comment! Several times through out this build i thought “oh man, this is way more than i can chew”, but i was happy with where it ended! Thanks for the comment!
Clamps are your friends when using an angle grinder and saw horses!
Great job on the video and the project!
Nothing beats a template! Even the most experienced welders will get it slightly off without a template or a fixture table even though they will never admit it!
Thanks for the comment! Always nice to hear that im not a complete loon in my novice way of doing things!
Love your videos. Fast tracking through the process is super efficient and you’ve explained everything very well. Simple tools, well-thought out processes. AND NO MUSIC BEST OF ALL. Looks like you are having a lot of fun. Congrats on the great video!
Glad you like them!
I’m voting no music. And dadgum that was an excellent build!
Hey thanks! It was a lot of work, but i think its gonna turn out pretty good as soon as i save up enough to afford plywood and drawer slides for the drawers! 👍
was ready to excavate a hole and crawl in it...until I found these God Sent videos...thank you for simplifying!
I’m glad you enjoyed the videos! Truly!
Music is perfect in this video! Probably one of the best :) you could add.
Awesome video! Waiting for the next part.
Im impressed by the easy to execute but great looking design. It has always been tricky for me to weld the third dimension (I.e., cubes) with everything square. You eliminated that problem with the L shape angle iron with oversized holes and only 2D objects welded. I will definitely steal that design for my own DIY furniture projects! ❤
Im glad you liked the video. The design has turned out pretty well!
I got a 12in demol blade with a 1in arbor for my mitre saw. Fits and cuts perfectly. Just every so often, I blew all the metal dust away from the machine and motor. No issues with it to this day. The demo wheel was under 20 bucks and still in excellent condition. There could be a reason why people don't do this, but I can't seem to find 1. I must add, it is a cheap saw from HF
Cut the 45°, put them down on the table and tack them together on the outside, then measure the diagonals and adjust so they match and you have a perfect square.
Weld one corner then the opposite one so they don't pull
2:17 ah, i have one of those metal sticks with crocodile skin on it, so thats what its for, i'm more on the metal side of the tools, great trick with the C washer for insert welds, it earnt a sub :)
no music for me.
Thanks for the sub and feedback about music!
Well done on the video, yes please no music, most of the unlicensed stuff makes it sound like the "How It's Made" tv shows.
Would be great if you'd share your fusion design file. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. My 3d model is pretty bare bones right now, but once i refine it i will post it, somewhere. I will have to figure out the best place to post something like that.
Looking forward to part two. Low volume music that isn’t distracting. Elevator music.
Great input! Part 2 is in the works!
What kind of welder did you decide to go with? I'm wanting to expand my wood projects into welded steel as well and wondered what you went with and how you like it.
Im using an htp invertig 221. I love it but it is the only tig machine i have ever owned so I don’t have anything to compare it to. No complaints about the machine, love it.
Keep it as is. Your audio is fine and unless you buy music and retain a contract giving you full license for whatever pub lication you may come up with present or future you‘re open for scammers ripping you off. And there is no music to not distract from the video and if you fall into the disco trap (blaring music twice as loud as your comment) viewers get crazy adjusting the volume all the time.
I gasped then chuckled all within a half a second when you raised your hand and looked like you were gonna splash down the nuts into the acid. Good one!
Music - I can take or leave it. I did notice there wasn’t music under the video but that’s only because most everyone else has music. No music is better then bad, irritating or overused needle drop. But that’s just my two cents. Nice job on the cabinets by the way!
Im glad you liked the joke! Yeah, im leaning away from music these days thanks to all the great feed back like this comment! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Cheers! 👍
No music is better; THEN i turned on some Stormtroopers of Death and blew the speakers on "premenstrual princess blues."
Being a werewolf is so much cooler THEN? being just human.
Being a werewolf is soooo much cooler THAN ✅ being just human.
Grammar Demon says spell wisely and don't walk through the woods on a full moon improperly gabbing to yourself!!!
Love, 66
Excellent build and video.
No music please.
Noted! Thanks!
Need part 2!
Me too! Its very high on my list. Thanks for the comment and interest!
I respect your effort. Good job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Grizzly has pretty good prices on drawer slides. At least compared to the big box stores.
Cool man. Been looking at welders lately, wanna get into this kind of fabrication
Subed. Cool project.
You've got a sub in me! Excellent work. I would not be surprised if you blew up in the very near future!
Thankyou! Very kind! I certainly hope so!
No music! I personally enjoy the sounds included
Definitely better with no music.
i honestly didnt notice the lack of music until you mentioned it
If you're washing your nuts again, try threading some wire through them, onto a loop, long enough to leave the end of the wire out of the liquid so you can grab it without getting your fingers wet... also allows you to give em a giggle half way through 😂
Good tip! Would have made the job much easier!
'tough-guy blues rock' is overdone in UA-cam vids like this. This was a perfect example of info, editing, humor and educational entertainment.
Thanks for the great comment and input!
No music we want to hear your voice . keep up the good work .
Great video. No music is great!
Thanks 👍
No Music.
Thank you for the feedback!
no music. fine as it is.
The only music I want to hear in these kinds of videos is the sound of power and hand tools only.
Also, thank you for no lengthy intros and outros a lot of UA-camrs use to fill out their videos because they’re too lazy to make a proper informative video to get their desired length.
You didn’t ask but while I’m here, please don’t get into making shorts. I hate and despise those things.
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Just out of curiosity, why do you have to remove the zinc? Something to do with the welding?
Welding zinc coated metal produces fumes that are bad to breathe 👍
Released gas is just hydrogen, muriatic acid strips zinc from the steel and turns it into zinc chloride and H from HCl forms H2
Great info! Thanks!
No music. Most folks don't work on projects like this with music in the background anyway because it's just too damn loud with all the equipment anyway. So no music.
No music, thank you.
Thanks for the feedback!
no music
Rivnuts?
great video mate....to me the background music is ok but most of the time it is too loud compared to the commentary in which case I would prefer not to have it....I hope that makes some sense....having said that, your commentary was really good through this vid so no music was the way to go....keep up the good work
Thanks for the great comment and input! Cheers!
👍 - No music
Thanks!
No music is perfectly fine with me. In my humble opinion a clear vocal overdubbing that contains good details and description with some light humor is all that's needed. Always be willing to prove your human by admitting and correcting your mistakes never omitting them because it's likely those of us who might follow your video will make the same mistake. But also there are "those" who love to point out flaws and any inconsistency so disarm them with honesty!
Thanks for the great feedback!
No music, your commentary is better.
I personally prefer no music 😊
No music please I enjoyed to hear the overtock
Thanks for the feedback. I'm hearing that same sentiment echoed a lot.
I think if u clamped them while cutting two hands could Control cuts better
Thats true! I was chasing those tubes all over my driveway!
Leave the music out, you voice overs are great. Using a cap screw would have removed the need to grind down that bolt.
Thanks for the input and comment! A cap screw would definitely work!
Still no part 2?
No music please 👍🏾👍🏾
Part 2?
Glad to hear you are interested! Working on it, but drawer slides are pricey! As soon as i get the nerve to pay for all the hardware, i will be able to get part 2 out.
NO MUSIC BROTHA!
No music!
Good job... No. Music please..
Thanks. Im thinking music is on it way out!
No music please
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it!
Agreed. BG music almost always detracts from the video.
Thanks for commenting on it!
Please...no music.
Thanks for the response!
No music is best with working sounds
Thanks for the feedback!
With that design it was totally unnecessary to mitre at all, and you could have used the open end to just tack the nuts on the inside. You made a whole heap of work. You did great but I'm about efficiency.
Great points, really.
No music necessary.
Thanks for the feedback!
Dont need music commentary is enough
Noted and thank you!
No music please. Keep up as it is.
Thanks for the input and comment!
Prefer less music, when is Part 2 coming out?
Thanks for the input! Part 2 is on the list, high on the list. I just need to get the nerve to spend all my money on drawer slides and plywood! Thanks for the comment and interest!
No music is better than bad music.
Thanks for the feedback!
Commentary is better
Thanks for the input!
music
Thanks for the feedback!
I vote: NO MUSIC.
I can listen to my own music if I want but if I don't want to listen to the music you are playing I can't turn it off and that sucks.
Thanks for the input!
Would not recommend music unless you’re hiring a pro for editing and paying for rights to use quality music
Great feedback, thanks!
Get a good microphone
No music is much better than loud overbearing music. Nothing worse than watching a how to video where you can’t understand a person talking because they’re playing loud obnoxious, rap music, louder than they’re speaking! 😅
Thanks for the input!
No music
No music please
I appreciate the feedback!
