- I just finished the sheetrock work in my garage and it looks Great, but now my water heater and furnace look like a real couple of eyesores. I am going to build a false wall around them that will be easy to remove for when I need access, but will look great when the wall is up. It will also keep the dust off of my water heater and furnace, which is great, because I am going to be making all sorts of dust when I get my 4x8 CNC ROUTER! Exciting stuff coming! Well Said. I didn't think of this. But they sure had me thinking hard as to how they were going to work. It wasn't until the 3rd Panel was installed and @ShawMade366 actually explained how they were made to work that it finally clicked. Awesome Idea for Sure. Well Done...

You should 3d print the parts for the top cleats and bottom cleats and then sell it as a installation kit.
Not a bad idea. I might start selling 3d prints of these in the future. For now i only have one printer and it is busy doing other projects!
The furnace is fine enclosed. A GAS water heater ventilation should be around 15 square feet per 1,000 BTU of the water heater. Electric water heater does not need ventilation. The best water heater, furnace, and water distribution area I've ever seen was done by a plumber, he did polished copper for everything and made punk art out of it. This area can look pretty cool but unless your a plumber it'll cost a pretty penny.

Thumbs up for redoing the "top plates" for the video, haha. Any chance you could throw those spring loaded cleats on your etsy store? I want to do something similar (why I am here via search) but I have to modify my panels to have vents (which will hold air filters for fine saw dust). I need only 2 panels about 30" to form a 90 degree. Going to check out those garage clips in that other video now.
Thank you, thank you! I can list these cleats, but they take a while to print, clean, and assemble. I imagine i would charge around $10 per cleat, but I would need to really price it out to know for sure on the price. If that price isnt too scary, let me know and i can get them on there.
Alternatively, the 3D models are already on the store. Any 3d printing company could take those files and print them up for you, for maybe cheaper. Either way, thanks for kind words and interest!!

Great work my man. Isn't your furnace going to need ventilation to work efficiently? I'm from Brisbane Australia and our climate doesn't require central heating thank goodness. Great content ❤️
No ventilation needed. It is an all electric air handler, so no combustion. The air handler itself is sealed up as tight as the HVAC installer could get it sealed, the goal being no air entry/exit at the handler. Thanks for the comment!
I’m glad you brought this up and that Shaw answered. If it was a gas furnace, I suppose you could uglify the whole thing with vents.
I don’t have central heating, either. We get about 10-15 days a year when I need to set up the portable propane heater and I get to curse myself for not cleaning the gas lines when I put it away.

That’s why he only used 1/4” sheet. Burning anything thicker is a waste of money. 😅 Nah, the furnace and water heater are electric. No combustion is going on.
Uh, just wondering, doesn't the furnace need to have airflow? I did a quick search and it doesn't seem like a good idea & possibly not meet code reqs. I like the idea, just wondering if it's really not good for the furnace or could cause other issues.
Thats a great question. I was gonna let comments inform me on that. It is a closed system in the garage, so there is no air transfer around it out there. Its also electric, not gas, as is the water heater. Gas mechanicals might need to be in an open space, again, not sure. Im sure there will be an abundance of comments correcting me if there is something wrong though. Thanks for the comment!
Kind of agree, but there is sort of an easy solution. The units will generate heat. Heat rises. So you could create sort of a convection cooling/ventilation effect. Since the panels are not airtight, this is probably already happening with the gaps. But if you were to add vent strips near the top of the boards and at the bottom (or create a larger gap between your 2x4/2x6 at the bottom), the movement of the hot air escaping at the vents near the top would draw in clean cool air from the bottom basically fanning the units. Only one catch (which you already may have a problem with). That air flow will likely leave a dirt/dust trail where it escapes. So you may see it start to form on your ceiling at the tops of your boards unless you add vents (path of least resistance).
