hi Brett where are you located at i enjoyed your talk i am currently setting up for jumbo quail i live coffs harbour region could you recommend anywere in nothern nsw or southern qweensland where i could aqiire some quail .i have line bred poultry and princess alexandra parrots all my life now 66 years young i want to do the same with jumbo quail any feed back would be greatly appreciated thanks for your time Brett like your content regards greg .the reason i am getting into it is for my table finding life expensive these days and quail may help with a good diet supplement. cheers.
I have had one hen in all my time go broody and attempt to hatch eggs, it was unsucessful because in a colony cage there is too much disruption, the hen is constantly fighting with other birds that come close to the eggs and spends lots of time chasing them away so not enough time on the eggs to incubate. It's rare for coturnix quail to go broody but it can happen.
About 285 grams at 10 weeks, that's 10 Ounces, if you work at it though a breeding program you can some of them up to about 14 ounces or about 400 grams/

Wouls it be possible to breed our own jumbos? I live in Costa rica and nobody will ship here, do you know people who would?
Have you ever had your coturnix quail incubate their own eggs?
