    I'm really lovin' my Jumbo Pharaoh/Jumbo Meat Makers. Such giving and friendly ladies and laying better then a chicken in my opinion. I've been getting double yoke eggs too. Thank you for the egg comparison, I appreciate it. Blessings :)

    Thanks Chris! Have you considered putting elbow shaped pipes in the feeder holes your birds stick their heads into to feed? I hot glued one in place and that allowed me to fill the Rubbermaid feed container to the max and the quail have to stick their heads down further to get to the feed so they don't waste as much as before I put the pipe in.

    Love your channel! It is amazing I was just about to put in an order to Kansas City Quail Farm and was trying to decide between the two. So thanks for doing these two videos on size and eggs. Would love a follow up when when the birds are 10 or 12 weeks old and see egg size. I would be interested to know if you can see a difference in weights of birds or eggs.

    Nice video on the egg info. Do the eggshell colors the same too? Just wondering bc we get eggs with spots and some eggs are solid colors.....

    How long does it take for the hens to lay full size eggs. Mine just started laying and are supposed to be jumbos I bought as teenagers. The eggs im getting are half size of true jumbos.

    Howdy Chris. I'm designing a horizontal egg roller and need to know the average size (width/length) of jumbo eggs so I can set my rails at the ideal height off the rack floor.

    Can you do comparison between standard vs jumbo quails and eggs. I have standard quails but I will order jumbo eggs from Myshire farm because they ship to Europe.

    Kind of small eggs. My Jumbos (weigh about 12 oz) lay 0.45-0.55 oz eggs and for hatching I'm choosing 0.50-0.55 oz. Have even bigger ones (0.70 oz), but they're double-yolkers (good for eating, but not for hatching). Thank you for your videos anyway.

    I suppose... one must consider the thickness of the shells. Weigh them after they're cracked open. Also, how much feed is used to produce eggs. QUESTION! What are meat makers? Is that different from Jumbo Wild?

  • @greenhornfarmer3598
    @greenhornfarmer3598 5 років тому +1

    seems like the Meat Makers lay larger eggs...weight was similar but number was less, given the same quantity the results would have been different. Now for my question....What do you do with all those eggs? You might get a max of say 10 per day right? How long are they viable before they can't be hatched? Are you mostly eating the eggs? Seems like a big pain to try to eat such a small egg...having said that I've never had one in my hand or on my plate so that's a total newbie opinion!

    If you don’t want to eat your quails for meat - don’t raise jumbos. The eggs might be bigger, but the smaller the quail is, the bigger the egg is in comparison to body weight - which means they eat less for one egg. Much more efficient. 100 gram quails are the best for eggs :)

      Deecy P In my experience this year, raising a batch of meat makers and a batch of smaller quail, the smaller ones have laid eggs much more reliably. My meat makers lay jelly eggs occasionally and skip days. Both groups are fed the same and have oyster shell, greens and mealworms daily. My little gals lay every single day!

    • @naturewatcher7596
      @naturewatcher7596 4 роки тому +1

      Bigger eggs are more preferable, then the tiny ones. 0.45-0.55 oz from 12 oz quails are fine for me, anything less are ridiculously small and not worth the effort of cooking them.

    2 oz = 56/7g/4 eggs = 14.18g Avg Jumbo Pharaoh 1.2oz = 34.0g/3 eggs = 11.3g Avg Jumbo Meat Makers There is a difference in egg size - results are standard for each strain. Also Jumbo Pharaoh will lay a greater number of eggs because Meat Maker breeders are selected for body weight rather than egg production. If you want eggs - go Pharaoh or any other standard size. If you want meat go Meat Makers or Jumbo Recessive Whites and if you want a compromise go Jumbo Pharaoh.

    • @williamc349

      He had 5 eggs for the Jumbo Pharaohs and 2oz = 56.7g so that comes out to 11.3g per egg.
