    question: why don't you mix the high protein feed with the calcium so you get the benefit of both? thanks! This channel is a necessary source of info for quail farmers

    So I followed your previous spacing recommendation, and the 3 whole quails are loving all their space, but the quail I had to cut in half doesn’t seem too happy, it never even moves anymore...maybe too crowded still?

    Which breed of quail are the most profitable? We raise cortex quail in The Philippines. We raised them in much closer quarters than you do in America. We usually switch from grower to layer at the first eggs being laid. I will switch to your method and see if I have better results. Keeping the birds Beyond one year or 13-14 months was not profitable. Thank you for sharing, an e cel lent and informative video.

      We had about 259 female quail on a slanted cage bottom. The eggs rolled forward. We had feed in a troth in the front and water in a troth in the back. We turned the lights on every afternoon before sundown. We kept a breed cage with a small number of male birds. We has a ratio of three hens to a cock. If we do it again we will go with one cock to six hens. We used a home made incubator heated by electric light bulbs and humidified by two l
      Pans of water.
      Quail right out of the shell seem to like water. I used fine gravel in a large water font to water the birds.

    • @jamesclaire115
      @jamesclaire115 2 роки тому +1

      Our cages held 250 females and the cages were about 8 foot long and about 38 to 40 inches wide. The cages were about 12 to 16 high. I hope that provides the information that you are asking for.

    A few questions if you can. Do you switch to layer feed for jumbos after week ten? How much feed does a jumbo eat per week vs a standard? Do you mix the oyster shell into the feed or does that go in a separate container? How much oyster shell per unit of feed?

    Other channel on UA-cam saying that the jumbo is just a marketing ploy. I would like to see the size difference of a full grown standard and a full grown jumbo. I am just getting into quail and still have lots to learn. Mine are said to be jumbos but it is hard to tell right now. I still haven't even taken them out of the incubator. Can't wait until the genetic videos.

      @@MyshireFarm If they actually can hatch. Calcium doesn't need to be much more than 3% by weight. Simply save quail egg shells, bake off in 210* oven for 30 minutes and run through a food processor. I typically just sprinkle some on the feed. and don't experience those really hard shells.
