@@bonezshakergarage how did the customer find out the A3 need it a new water pump and thermostat?
@@MultiInKIEto this is my youngest car and I took it to the dealer because we have been losing and smelling coolant for a while. The dealer informed me $3,300 to fix the coolant problem and the oil pan. I told them I was good I will fix it myself. Hell I didn’t even know the oil pan was leaking.
@@bonezshakergarage thanks for the info. Same here 2018 A3 keeps losing coolant but I am not sure if it is water pump or a hose to engine since the leak is so small and coolant last almost a year when top off.
@@MultiInKIEto I would wait to get it done. Because it is not a real issue yet. My kid is going to college and I wanted the car fixed

For the oil pan , did you replace the gasket or use the same one?
Thank you for providing the video. I have a coolant leak in my VW Passat 2016. How do I know if the leak is coming from the water pump? should I replace the pump and the thermostat housing? Thank you.

@@bonezshakergarage One more question, When installing the water pump drive belt do you have to move the camshaft under the car?
Well done good job, I'm about to do it also on my Audi A3 2015, just wondering what was your symptoms or P codes that made you change the pump? I don't have any leaks, heater takes time to get warm so I suspect the thermostat which is on the pump so mind as well change the whole pump and housing. I also have a P2683 code at a time I had P2181, P2681 and p2556 Thanks
Appreciate 2CleverInnovations. I don’t remember if I had a p code. I was smelling antifreeze and we had to keep putting antifreeze in the car every other dart. So I went checking and I finally seen the water pump leaking and during the search I found a oil leak
@@bonezshakergarage Thanks for the reply. I'm still hesitating before doing the job since I have no leak, no smelling antifreeze, no squeaky noise, I'm thinking maybe it's the heater control valve?
Do you know why one of the two big holes on the base was plugged with a plastic?
I don’t. Everything is made of plastic. The water pump and the oil pan
