As a Puerto Rican Italian with a thick lash line… waterliner is my best friend in making me look balanced - I have very long bottom lashes they are just sparse
Just use black eyeshadow but place it where lashes grow out, but only line 2/3 from outer end. Gradually thin it out as you get closer to ending it. Get drama without making eyes appear small. Wet the brush before dipping in shadow.
I’m 61 and I haven’t put a thing on my under eye (concealer) for 20 years now. My niece taught me a several tricks. Once I have my hair and makeup routine done, 45 mins, I can still genuinely pass for early 40. I love how you are so real, to the point and teach. You are appreciated. ☮️🌸🕊
Love love love how you’re teaching about balance when it comes to makeup-all these different techniques are beautiful, but sometimes you need to focus on one technique and makeup the rest of the face to balance that
I think everyone is missing your point… of course you can do whatever look you want! BUT when you only line your waterline it looks harsh and unprofessional. It should be part of a smokey look, not natural eyeshadow and harsh black liner.
I know what you are talking about… just a fresh , daily makeup… however, I looove that black line right under my eye… in fact, I was wondering what product/s you’re using to achieve this effect… it never stays like this for me.. yours is so crisp and evenly dark all the way across your eye… thank you 🙏
I remember doing the black eyeliner all the way around in high school😄Then I learned the trick to only line halfway in, to open the eye and make the bottom lashes look thicker/ darker. I taught all 4 of my daughters the same by doing each eye differently side by side so they could see how it closes the eye off.
I have gray-green eyes and if I line the waterline it makes my eyes seem clear and see-through. I naturally fell on this technique cause it makes my eyes pop instead of drowning them.
First of all you are stunning ❤. Now I’m 52. Back when I was a teenager in the 80s we’d heat up our black eyeliner and put it on exactly like you did 😅. The problem is some women my age still do it
Oh I've been doing this for months!! I have dow eye's and one day I put on a full black liner like she did and it was to harsh on my eye's. and so what I did I put on a light brown lower lash line like she did. but I also like to put a light maroon shade on my inner corner just to make my eye's POP!!!
"Mistake"? What you call a mistake is my very purposeful action. I have big bug eyes & I like the liner all the way across my lash line/water line specifically bc it closes my eyes a bit. I don't want a light brown dust of shadow to open my eyes even more.
You got that right, for those of us that have smaller eyes and are wanting to make them appear bigger- would benefit from this tip. If you are trying to make your eyes appear smaller then absolutely- keep lining them all the way !!!!
I used to use the eyeliner pencil and apply it to my top lid line and then just shut my eyes so it can transfer to the bottom. That way it gave a hint of it on the bottom line but not obvious. My eyes are annoyingly sensitive and it was a trick I was taught by a makeup artist. That was back in the day though so I'm sure things changed. 😎👍
I learned from a make-up artist to line the bottom from the outside corner to the pupil. He said that the full lower eyelid became popular after the movie Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor came out.
I literally have done this for years. It helps the extension of your eye it's like eye contour depending how you do it it can make your eyes look bigger
I have done both for two different looks , personally I do ,do the brown way more but only because it matches the look I’m going for most of the time but even the first way looks good and I do like and use❤️
fr i only do the dark liner on inner waterline when i do my makeup for a night out or when i want my eyes to look smaller (because my eyes are round and big)
I’ve been doing this for years and a little white eyeliner in the inner corners. Trust me when I say it gives you a more natural look with the desired effect. Brown is especially good if you have blue or green eyes as it really makes them pop too!
I'm 40yrs and love seeing these young girls figuring out makeup and what works best for them just like I did at their age. Keep sharing the knowledge, the internet is becoming a big sister ❤
This is how I’ve been doing my makeup since middle school and my older sister always acted like it was silly! Personally? I think she looked silly the way she did her eye liner, but I never told her because I didn’t want to make her feel bad
I used to tight line my top and bottom lids through my forties. I realized one day that tight lining along with mascara on my bottom lashes had become harsh looking on me. My face had changed and my makeup routine needed to as well.
I think it depends on your eyes and the type of eyeliner you use. Some people have oily skin and everything gets messsd up. Other people look good and have no issues putting eyeliner in their waterline.
Love the liner look! Yet, liner gets stuck in the lower eye, causing potential problems with infection or chemical buildup. Many eye docs see this and often don't say anything to their patients...
I do this! My eyes tend to look a bit downward turned on my outer corners, so lining the entire bottom line would only accentuate it and make my eyes look even more droopy!
I just found you now Nikki - totally subbing, yes this is what I do! I grew up in the 90s early 00's where black eyeliner tightlining was the look. It's taken me some time to perfect this exact look and it's so pretty. You're so pretty! Happy to be here I'm loving the calm chill vibe 🥂
Feels so refreshing when there’s just talking and no crazy dramatic reactions and loud music 😌
Thank you for that feedback!!
Yes omg I'm so over music
100%
right and her voice is really soft too
Yes the dramatic over the top expressions... Just comes across so fake!
my toxic trait is that i like full bottom eye liner 😮
And that’s okay!!
As someone who was born in a family that LOVES to wear kohl/kajal, I don’t know any other way but the classic black liner on the entire waterline.
The full one with black liner gives Penelope Cruz vibes tho 🤩
As a Puerto Rican Italian with a thick lash line… waterliner is my best friend in making me look balanced - I have very long bottom lashes they are just sparse
I love my entire bottom lined.. feel more complete. That’s the beauty of makeup. Everyone is unique.
I LOVE a video without music in the back I can actually hear you without getting distracted
Just use black eyeshadow but place it where lashes grow out, but only line 2/3 from outer end. Gradually thin it out as you get closer to ending it. Get drama without making eyes appear small. Wet the brush before dipping in shadow.
My mom taught me to only go half way on the bottom liner. I avoided the wildly unbalanced raccoon eye phase when I was 14 😂
For me I have dark eyes so I don’t line them because it makes them look smaller… it’s best to just play around and find what works for you
I love inner eyeliner but it smudges no matter what i do
I prefer the full waterline, top and bottom, always have. Even yours looks better with the full waterline, in my opinion.
I like how both look, personally the eyeliner stays longer for me.

I love eyeliner inside the waterline
I know what you are talking about… just a fresh , daily makeup… however, I looove that black line right under my eye… in fact, I was wondering what product/s you’re using to achieve this effect… it never stays like this for me.. yours is so crisp and evenly dark all the way across your eye… thank you 🙏
I’ve always done this, so glad to see it’s getting some attention and love 😂
Love this common mistakes series! Learned more in 5 mins than I have in years!❤
My eyes are huge and almond shaped, using eyeliner in the water line makes my eyes look skinner and more detailed as well as make my brown eyes pop.
I remember doing the black eyeliner all the way around in high school😄Then I learned the trick to only line halfway in, to open the eye and make the bottom lashes look thicker/ darker. I taught all 4 of my daughters the same by doing each eye differently side by side so they could see how it closes the eye off.
I did it in high school as well! But looking back it made my eyes look TINY!
I have gray-green eyes and if I line the waterline it makes my eyes seem clear and see-through. I naturally fell on this technique cause it makes my eyes pop instead of drowning them.
They both look great.I love the black on the lower lash line all the way through.
First of all you are stunning ❤. Now I’m 52. Back when I was a teenager in the 80s we’d heat up our black eyeliner and put it on exactly like you did 😅. The problem is some women my age still do it
been doing this half eyeshadow trick since i was 13!! thanks kpop lol!
Love that!!!!
I literally do both depending on the makeup look and my mood on the day
I have very big eyes so actually my eyes look unbalanced if I put even the smallest amount of liner on top without doing the bottom as well
Same.
Ok I'm curious why you brush more than once on the pallet but tap off the extra to only use a little bit. Can't one swipe do?
Gurl! The skin! Perfection! Thanks for the tip!❤
Reminds me of Asian eye makeup like Korean eyeshadow looks and it’s so pretty!
Oh I've been doing this for months!! This reel gave me Ashley Judd vibes! love
I get that ALL THE TIME lol!! Thank you!
As a dark skinned girl, no thank u very much, I like my black eyeliner, plus the brown shadow wouldn’t even show on me.
Yeah, i also tried this. The brown half liner looks so good
I’m so happy you tried this technique out!
"Mistake"? What you call a mistake is my very purposeful action. I have big bug eyes & I like the liner all the way across my lash line/water line specifically bc it closes my eyes a bit. I don't want a light brown dust of shadow to open my eyes even more.
it makes u look older, harsh and like u haven't left the year 2004
You got that right, for those of us that have smaller eyes and are wanting to make them appear bigger- would benefit from this tip.
If you are trying to make your eyes appear smaller then absolutely- keep lining them all the way !!!!
Ma'am, i am brown 🤎 that brown shadow doesn't work on me and actually Kajal compliment us brown skin people alot.
That’s great and I am very familiar with Kajal eyeliner. I’m simply trying to show different techniques to line/ enhance eyes.
Great technique! Makes such a big difference and looks more professional.
Love this! Have used this trick with only lining half way for a long time - the best!!
I love inner liner it’s my go to for every look…I did shadow outside for years though. Inner top lid as well combined with lower is beautiful too.
Thanks for sharing!!
I followed instantly cause that was a great tip and I’ve never seen. I’ve always wondered how to line my lower lash line without my eyes looking weird
I personally love the fully lined waterline
Love this tip ! Love your content! You're the BEST!!!
Love how you go real close up with the camera so we can see the correct placement. I just love your channel 😍
Nope, I have beautiful large eyes, I don't need them to look anymore open than they are...I love rocking the Black water line.
I literally have done this for years. It helps the extension of your eye it's like eye contour depending how you do it it can make your eyes look bigger
Yessss!!!! ❤️🙌🏼
Like the look with the eye shadow at the corner of your eye. Really enhanced your eye!
Thank you!!
Love that, and definitely Great for a night out!
I agree with this method but shadow wears off pretty quickly. How do you make the shadow last.
I have more mature eyes and I tried your hack and it opened my eyes so much more plus I received so many compliments, thanks so much.
Love how you talk to us like we are in front of you and you’re being direct. Great video!
It's the thing I hated the most about early 2000s makeup.
Hi Nikki, thank you for the short! Can you please do a short on how you did this eyeliner?
Thank you for that. I can’t really use pencil eyeliner, later i would look like panda, like someone punch my eyes. Lol.
What eyeshadow palette was this
I do both! 😂 I put brown or black liner in my waterline and then add more brown or black eye shadow on the lash line and it’s dramatic and I love it!
Love the color of your eyes... Beautiful...
this tip is so good!!! Looks so much better than the black eyeliner!
What’s the brush your using?
You could use white, blue, or a green pencil line instead of black. Those colors also brighten the whites of the eye and open the eye up.
I do that brown eyeshadow trick, learned how to do it by playing around with my makeup in the mirror. Then I wore it out and got so many compliments.
I love both looks for different occasions
I’ve been doing this for years and a little white eyeliner in the inner corners. Trust me when I say it gives you a more natural look with the desired effect. Brown is especially good if you have blue or green eyes as it really makes them pop too!
I'm 40yrs and love seeing these young girls figuring out makeup and what works best for them just like I did at their age. Keep sharing the knowledge, the internet is becoming a big sister ❤
I love this! Takes me back to 2010s tutorials!!!!
But I like the liner on the bottom lash line😢 and that brown won’t show up on my brown skin 😅
I do this on both top and bottom. I never go all the way across, it’s way more flattering and natural.
Anyone else get dizzy with the amount of moving of the camera.
Omg what foundation are you wearing here? It’s so beautiful!!!
You’re so pretty!!
This is how I’ve been doing my makeup since middle school and my older sister always acted like it was silly! Personally? I think she looked silly the way she did her eye liner, but I never told her because I didn’t want to make her feel bad
Would never have thought of that....thank you so much
I used to tight line my top and bottom lids through my forties. I realized one day that tight lining along with mascara on my bottom lashes had become harsh looking on me. My face had changed and my makeup routine needed to as well.
It’s called “Kajal” in Indian tradition it is a kind of made with charcoal or by the ashes of a flame
Ahhh yes!! And it’s a beautiful look, but not always the most flattering on EVERYONE.
Great advice, I will definitely be doing this! Thank you
So pretty and very informative! Makes me want to try it, but I know it won't look as good on me. LOL!
I think it depends on your eyes and the type of eyeliner you use. Some people have oily skin and everything gets messsd up. Other people look good and have no issues putting eyeliner in their waterline.
THANK YOU!! Couldn't agree more with this, instant follow ❤️
Great advice!!
I use a chocolate colored eyeliner for this, didn't realize powders would look smoother.
Wow. This is a great tip. Thank you!❤
Thank you. I've been struggling with this.
I put eye pencil partially in my waterline like half way just to blend it it and connect the eye liner to the rest of the eye
Love this look!!
Couldn't get any easier than this. Thanks girlie so muches
This is exactly how I do my eyes. The one without the lower lid liner. Just a bit of black on top/dark shadow on outer corner. Done. Looks great
Love the liner look!
Thanks!
Well done! You can really see the difference 🎉
Thank You.
Thank you.

Ahhh!!! I’m so happy to have you and welcome!!!!!! Thank you so much and yes me too!!
Please, u have the most amazing skin ever? How is that possible? What do u do?
Thank you
I love this! We're not in middle and high school any more, ladies lol! This SCREAMS how we did our makeup in school 😂
Settle down we all did it lol
Love your brows. How'd you do them?
