I get asked all the time for tips on how to apply eyeshadow on Hooded eyes, and It’s actually much easier than you would think.
So in this tutorial, I’m sharing some of my best tips and techniques.
Even though I do not have significantly hooded eyes I do however have one eye, in particular, that is much more hooded and always takes a lot more time and patience just to get it to look like the other, you’ll notice in this tutorial that the eye I focus on is slightly less open and has more of a fold over my eyelid which is why I chose to only demo on this eye.
Even with the finished look, they are still not twins and that’s OKAY. The main takeaway from this tutorial is the Placement of each shadow, blending techniques, and to maintain looking STRAIGHT ahead into a mirror throughout the application.

I am so excited that this is not just for hooded eyes but also uneven eyes. My eyes are uneven, and I have never found tutorials to make them match, especially taking into account hoodedness! I'd also be interested in tutorials for people who have low brow bones and little real-estate for eye-shadow. With my hooded eyes, I feel like my eyelashes touch my eyebrows. Whenever I try to tightline, I basically have no other visible makeup with my eyes open.
I have Asian hooded eyelids and for years I've looked for a tutorial to do eyeshadow and THIS is THE one! Thank you so much. Best explanation and demonstration.

Ok…I’ve been watching hooded eye makeup tutorials literally since the dawn of UA-cam and this is HANDS DOWN the best one ever! Some of the tips I’ve seen from other artists on here but this combined all the best tips I’ve ever seen with some definite amazing new ones I’ve never seen in the last 10+ years of watching UA-cam tutorials. Your step by step tutorial is hands down the very best I have watched for hooded eyes. The pace is absolutely perfect.Your explanation on how to use each brush for each step is so helpful. The technique for applying the shadow colors is demonstrated very well. The lighting is perfect. The close up camera shots really help to understand the technique. Seeing how you even hold the brushes when applying is even helpful. You're holding them at the end and using a very light touch and a small amount of product. I finally get it! Thank you very much! Now I need to practice. 😮

You NEED to try the Nars smudge proof eyeshadow primer!!! It's a MUST for oily eyelids!!! My eyeshadow lasts ALL day! I have oily eyelids plus I sweat a lot because I'm a nervous person LOLLL but the eyeshadow helps my eyeshadow stay put LEGIT ALL DAY

Loved this video for hooded eyes....being nearly 60, my eyes are more hooded than ever but I love to wear my shadows. Over the past 10 years I've certainly had to make changes in applying my make up. Thank you for this video, even being 60, I really want to add a bit of shimmer to my eyes.

I think this tutorial might actually work for me 💗 I’ve watched tons of videos but it’s difficult because I have hooded AND downturned eyes - similar to Emma chamberlain’s eyes. It’s so hard for me to do any eye makeup

I just discovered your channel today and I am addicted!! I have never worn much makeup or been good at applying it but I have always wanted to be. I am in love with you and your videos and accomplished nothing today because I could not stop watching them. 😂
I was in a car accident in 2013 and due to blunt force trauma to my face, my eye socket was shattered and my left eye globe ruptured. I now have plate and screws and a prosthetic eye on the left. Due to the trauma I lost most of the fat around that eye socket so my eyes look different. I have a hooded eye on the right and not hooded anymore on the left. I prefer the not hooded to be honest. I was wondering if you could do a video showing tricks and tips that can make my eye structure look more similar to each other. Most people say they can’t tell the difference but I can….but considering what it looked like prior to all the 4 surgeries I am happy with the outcome. I wish I was able to show you a photo.

Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! I’m still getting used to applying shadow with my eyes open🤦🏼♀️ I may need to apply mascara last since I have long eyelashes, and with lashes curled and mascara on they get in the way of doing shadow. Practice! Practice!

My fiance's sister went to get her wedding makeup trial done at a salon. She has pretty hooded/deep set eyes. It looked...pretty meh. They put thick black liner on her lid🙄 made her eyes look so heavy and closed. I feel like a lot of people just do the same makeup techniques for everyone. I ended up doing her makeup for her using this video and it looked beautiful. She was so happy with it and was getting compliments all night:)

Thabk you for this thorough video. Can you recommend an eye shadow base/primer for very crepey, loose, mature and textured eyelids?
I would say this technique is simply a socket focus, the 'hooded eyes' are still very much obviously there adding to how beautiful everything is, but you are just focusing on the socket, the way some techniques focus on the eye line or lashes, there are so many ways to define the face. E.g, painting the lips red is not meant to make then look bigger/like something they're not, but rather to define the lip shape. No illusion here Nikki, just definition of one facet instead of the other. :)

My eyes are exactly like yours! One is very hooded and the other isn't. It drives me nuts, but I never would have noticed that about it you if you didn't point it out.
