I absolutely love that car!
Haha me too 😇😇😇
Really good looking buggy I luv my 2wd 👌. We all forget things when taking a car out, you’ll dial her in she just needs tweaking here and there and getting things where your happy with them. Good project 👍you’ve inspired me to get on with mine 🙏
Fantastic 😅
Nice Glenn went well.. be great to see it brushless 👍🤩
Thanks buddy 😇👊🏻
Ruthless!!! Absolutely love it
Thanks for watching 😎👊🏻
I drink my coffee to your vid every weekend. These are my fav b/c you see the car progress over time. If you do make it to a dirt track the TT02B needs be unretired. I am looking at a TD2 now, like the body you did.
Haha I keep looking at the TT02B, I definitely think it’ll be coming out of retirement in the summer 😅
This thing looks great, and runs great.. love it Glenn
Yeah hopefully it’s only going to get better 😅
G'day Glenn wow that thing looks bloody awesome and it goes really well to. When I was working at the hobby shop I bought a HPI F1 chassis and I went all out and put a Mamba 120 amp speedy and a 2 turn motor insane over powered so hard to drive so hard to get the power down. I would of put the 11 turn in the same mate don't muck around it looked like a beast to drive. Great video mate 👍👍
Thank you 😊
I have the Tamiya carbon rear tower on my td2. It only attaches via 2 screws. With the wing mounts on the tower its a lot of leverage on those 2 screws. It feels like it wouldn't take much to crack where the tower attaches to the chassis, so I still used the normal wing mounts. Interesting to see what you think. Awesome videos by the way.
Oh that’s interesting thanks for sharing that information 😎👊🏻
Very un-January weather you're having there, Glenn...green trees too. :)
Lol yeah this was filmed 3 months ago 🤣👊🏻
If you buy a pair of thumb screws and glue the grub screw into the thumb screws that would make a nice quick release set for that battery cover .
Great idea 😅
Well that shifts! Looking forward to seeing it again 👍
Haha yeah it wasn’t hanging about my friend 😅
I love my TD2, still a long way from my perfect set up for my clubs track but it’s still a great drive
Yeah I love how yours is seeing proper track time 😍
My td4 has the Tblm-02s 10.5 turn brushless. Slipper clutch 79 tooth spur, 20 tooth pinion. I am very pleased with the results. I hope that this is helpful
Excellent that’s probably what I’ll be putting in mine 😊
Good to see it running Glenn, shame about the tyres though but not the end of the world , looks bad ass ;) if you run it indoors you need to run the front shocks quite stiff on carpet with the shocks being inboard I’ve got small bore areation dampers on mine but needed to use about 1300cst in the front to keep it from pitching under braking. If you fit the carbon rear tower you may need to fiddle with the wing height as the mounts that come with raise the wing height . Good stuff as always
Awesome Glenn!
Good run! You're right about the tires. I use the kit tires on my Astute, and it runs great on dirt and grass.
Excellent thanks for watching 😅
Ran awesome, liked the speed of the 11 turn.
Yeah it’s a great little motor 😅
Don't be so hard on yourself Glenn, that's our job ;) It went well other than the braking on tarmac. I've found that lawns (uneven ones) are a tough ask for most cars 1/10 and down. Still, would be interested to see how it goes with a softer front end.
Thank you yeah I was just a little disappointed 😅
Lookin good mate. Runs buttery smoove! 👍
Cheers Mick 😅
It’s probably the wheels. Even though the tires fit they bow due to the narrower wheels and you loose contact patch. You can get some black df03 wheels and the tires won’t bow anymore and you will have better contact patch and better control. I just went through this with my Tt02b
Oh that’s a great point 😇👊🏻
Nice. Looks great...
Thanks for watching 😎
nice video i really wish that warm weather was here. you should build a track in your yard there
Haha that was filmed 3 months ago 🥶🥶🥶
The car ran and sounded real smooth. The slipper may have been a tic to lose. That can heat up a brushed motor to. The car sounded amazing.
Yeah I’ll definitely be looking at the slipper next time out my friend 😅
Epic build Glen 💥💥
Hare Krishna🙏
It looks great and sounds sweet. Like you say, a bit slippery but wow. edit: getting to the end of video now, glad you worked the tires out.
Haha yeah I honestly never thought about checking if they were worn in a particular direction 😅
Nice video Glenn, I will be following this series with interest!
Excellent I’m glad you enjoyed it my friend 🤩👊🏻
It's a shame you didn't come across that lovely long car park when you were doing speed runs with the TA05 NSX😁, but TBH the TD2 runs fast and looks sweet 👍 great to see a running video again Glenn 👍👍 (11t brushed❤️)
Haha you’re not wrong it’s a great spot to run them on 😅
@@TAMIYALegends maybe a couple of future speed running video 😁😁, I love when brushed motors are tested to compare against brushless, there's just something about the whine they make gets me buzzing lol👍👍👍
Inspirational stuff Glenn, you've given me the TD2 bug! I'm going to build a similar spec TD2 for my local astro turf track, similar styling but in Avante blue. Can't wait to see how it performs. Thanks 👍 😊
Fantastic Mark 🤩🤩🤩
That looks awesome
Had a good turn of speed with the super modified it would be nice to see how much faster it is brushless great to see you out running again Glenn 👍👍
Thanks Chris 😅
I kinda had last year off with the running videos but I’m planning on doing tons of them once winter is over 🥶🥶🥶
@@TAMIYALegends 😎look forward to those then 😅😅👍
Nice build Sir!
Love that body shell! Keep up the good stuff and don’t be to critical with yourself. 👍🏻
Thank you 😊
Looks like it will be a really sweet runner Glenn. Sounds very smooth and it looks pretty dialled in for a first run.
Yeah it’s definitely off to a good start my friend 😇👊🏻
It was a good run, I have same problem with brushless in my dark impact, problems getting it to sit flush, had to modify motor plate.
Really nice run there..and awesome looks🏁👌but i do think tamiya should make more 4WD buggys nowadays, simply to make them more stabile i various conditions,we dont see 2WD driven so often anymore(seldom)😅 can u agree!?
Yeah it’s funny i much prefer 4wd but it is a blast to run a 2wd now and again 😅
✔️🏎️🏁
Sweet 😊👌
Very impressive how quick this is with a brushed motor. Must be insane with a brushless!
Yeah I’m looking forward to getting the 10.5 in there 😅
Looks good with both sets of wheels.
Glad to have learned from your experience. I’d never thought to check that tire orientation.
Rapid that Glenn….deffo tyres on the rear end traction imo……damp tarmac as well
Thanks buddy 😅
Looks rapid. Be great on an indoor carpet, with the right tyre's on. Maybe a return to the track Glen???
Ace video and looks awesome - can’t wait to see it develop! Unusual to see warm weather at this of the winter in Canada?!
Hi mate when did you film it the weather looks very nice I thought you would have loads of snow. It’s nice to see even an expert like yourself self can get things wrong.
Haha I’m no expert my friend 🤣
Yeah actually made this video almost three months ago 🙈
Looks sweet 👌 looks to have a fair bit of speed to it. It would be good to see how one fairs up against modern race cars 🤔
Yeah I don’t think this chassis jumps very well 🤕
@@TAMIYALegends im sure someone will have given one a good pasting 🤔 if not. Well, lets see what happens this summer 😎
I raced mine indoors on carpet and it’s pretty good with a half decent set up although still couldn’t quite cut it against a rc10b6.2 some of that was my driving though ;)
St. Jacobs market! We need to take that to the track my friend 😜🤞?? A barnyard Saturday or an Xtreme weekday? How's the b6 coming along?
Yeah that would be cool 😎
And not even looked at the B6 yet 🤣
👍👍
I used a Jconcepts silent speed 78t spur in my Astute 2022 build in progress. I just wasted one of these trying to test my Zahhak buggy.
Oh I didn’t know they made them 😅
@@TAMIYALegends they do fit the Tamiya TRF201 and DN01 Zahhak... it also fits the TD2 Astute with no modifications. My biggest question for the Td2 is this: How big of a spur gear would fit? I might upgrade to a brushless system later when i become accustomed to this buggy.
DAB the brake and it locks front end that’s hilarious lol on a 2wd car
I know lol 🙈🙈🙈
You need to run it at the track.
You needed to use the stock tires.
Need to loosen the slipper and run street tires on blacktop
Yeah that was really only for it’s first run, hopefully I’ll get it on the dirt next time out 😅
Will you let people to see your collection somewhere, someday?
I can really only do it through videos 😅
I absolutely forgot this car existed
Errr brake locks the front wheels? 6:10min ...Im sure you mean rears. Looks a treat out and about! Slipper loosened needed i think. Especially if you would use on dirt..but im sure its not going in a dirt race..
Haha yeah just one of the many mistakes on the day 😂😂👊🏻
With that suspension setup that car not gona work properly on any surface. You have to have droop on your shocks now it drives like a plank!😉
Yeah more work to be done on it 😅
Sounds and looks sweet so if you had to choose between td04 and the 02 which one would you go for 😊
Well hmmm 🤔
I think because I mainly run 4wd the TD2 just feels a little special if that makes sense 😅
But the TD4 runs really really well too 🤔🤷🏼♂️
@@TAMIYALegends nooo how do I choose
Where are you going to put the bevel gear Hop Up parts? I think they're only for the TD-4?
Yeah unfortunately they only sell them for the TD4, so I now have a spare pair lol 😅
I’d go for a tooth bigger on the pinion lol 👍
I am currently building my astute 2022 to use a quicrun 1060 esc and an Injora 13t 540 brushed motor. As for tires, the rear tires are vintage proline 2.2 trenchers for 1/16 rc cars Do you think that setup is good?
The 13t 540 motor was too powerful that it unsoldered one of the wires and I ruined two 1060 speed controllers. I also broke one of the rear hubs and lost one of its dogbones while it was briefly converted to brushless.
Haha dude l have been involved in this hobby since 1983 and still do the odd school boy error 🤣
I think to myself sometimes come on man how dumb ass are you! Maybe its an age thing? Iol
Fun project Glenn it will be interesting to see how good the TD2 can be and its great you have picked this to make into a full on runner!
Cheers James 😎👍
Haha I have no Idea how many cars I’ve actually built over the years, but I still make dumbass mistakes regularly 🤣🤣🤣
@@TAMIYALegends Haha you are not alone! Have a good weekend buddy👍
When did you video it?
Tried of few of them batteries from ZEEE. Save yourself the time and take it back. They are utter crap !
Oh really that sucks 🤕
@@TAMIYALegends Voltage drop right out of the gate is just terrible. I put a load on the same pack you had of 20A voltage went to 7.1v within seconds. And stays there until about 6.75v. They have some of their stated capacity - about 20% less than advertised. But they give it at a very low voltage.
