    I love that tamiya is doing new things with their car designs again. This car feels very vintage in that regard even though it is very modern. They stand out. Well done tamiya!!!

    stunning build ,cant beat the tamiya blue for a classy look , i did notice your turnbuckles have a small line on themnear ajuaster nut that need too be facing the same way at each end of the car as the thread is clockwise/anti clockwise , this hepls when ajusting so you only have too turn them the same way and both wheels come in or out , not a negetaive on your top shelf build just my 2 cents worth so when you get it track ready you can do simple set up changes with out thinking is it left or right and lose your base set up, keen to watch the next few vids mate

    Bottom of page 24 in the manual has a few notes on fitting the DF03 dampers by the way, theres nothing crazy in there, but kind of explains how you can get away with the longer shafts that come with the DF03 front dampers

    Hi Glenn
    Hope you are doing well
    I think you are on to something with those springs. I have the same aluminum damper kit as you except I’m working on a sand viper. The springs in the damper kit are not the correct ones. They are for 4wd as you stated. I talked to tamiya support and they told me that the sand viper front springs are the same as in the dt02 Ms kit. But the rear springs on the Ms kit are the BLUE springs from the dt02 spring kit (the one that comes with blue and red springs. They don’t make those springs in white anymore. the rear gold springs from the damper kit should work. I ordered a few sets of the red/blue dt02 hop up springs so when they get in I can compare spring rates with the “feel test”. I looked on the tamiya website to see the build manual for the td2. I’m shocked to see that the springs part numbers front and rear point to the dt02 spring kit. That kit comes with the red springs you already have and also the blue hard springs. The medium springs are from a sand viper kit. I’m willing to bet if you borrowed the rear springs from the dt02 Ms kit to test you might be surprised. FYI the dt02 Ms kit has different instructions and calls for 2 o rings built into the rear and none in the front.
    Maybe this is the unofficial 2wd settings? Anyhow you said it is a work in progress. Can’t wait to se what you’re final build is after all adjustments. I did a detailed post on tamiya club and you can look me up as danimaldaisy if you have time to read it. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to get my td2. I will probably get it In February of next year after holidays and birthdays ;) 🎉

    Maybe I've missed something, but can you test if the TD4 body will fit by mocking up the TD4 shell you have? You'd at least get an idea and maybe get a few answers to your questions / ideas.

    EDIT: @29:27 Looks good to me lol
    I was thinking maybe rebuild the shocks with droop built-in maybe? (Trying to remember this from years ago on my CAT 2000), As the arms only at full extension are level with the chassis off small jumps the chassis could bottom out quite often cause the 'bounce effect' I used to get back in the day. With running droop you'll get the right stance with tinkering but all the full travel to allow the shocks/springs take the jump and most of the force out the landing rather than bottoming out and putting the force through the chassis. Probably way to outdated now but how I used to run. Just an Idea! ;)

    @merijn1975 Рік тому +1

    Hi Glenn,
    What a great car! One thing I do not understand: the Tamiya engineers did work on the standard setup for probably multiple years and did find the sweet spot. You throw all of that experience away by changing the shocks before you have even run it. Are you sure that is the right way to go?
    Anyway, thanks for sharing!

    Another great video Glenn 👍, the Td2 is an enjoyable build and a capable buggy. It jumps beautifully! Nice and balanced, it's great on loose surfaces but it is almost impossible to steer on your average road (haven't tried concrete). Also if you want to run the car on a track, don't bother with the mudguards, they don't last long 🙄.
