Thanks for your comment! I was also worried about the battery issue of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. That’s why I decided to go with both the Ultra 2 and Garmin. Of course, I know this option doesn’t work for everyone. Let’s break down your concerns: 1. Multiple devices If you already own a lot of Apple devices like an iPad, Mac, AirPods, or iPhone, the Apple Watch Ultra will integrate seamlessly into your ecosystem and make your life more convenient. 2. Data analysis As you mentioned, you spend about 2 hours a day exercising, but the rest of your day feels inconvenient. That’s definitely not ideal. Both Ultra and Garmin have top-tier tracking systems, and their data accuracy is excellent. I don’t think there will be a significant difference between them. So, choose the one that fits your lifestyle better. 3. Button design If you’re not a fan of the Ultra’s button design, you could consider the Apple Watch Series 10. It’s lighter, more portable, and has a simpler design. Maybe that could be the one for you! 4. Battery issue Thanks to fast charging, I think this can be easily managed. You can charge your watch when you take it off before a shower or while you’re working at your desk. I also strongly recommend checking out this multi-charging base-it’s been a game-changer for me. I actually made a video about it before; feel free to check it out! ua-cam.com/video/YKgG5GfCKF4/v-deo.htmlsi=GhaFogLm0dqlgr_J At the end of the day, devices are here to serve us-they shouldn’t make us feel stressed. Hello, I took advantage of a good Black Friday offer to switch back to Garmin with this 965. Indeed, I first had an epix pro gen2 51mm. It really is a large format. Then I currently have an ultra2. I find the battery life really disappointing. My fear is feels like a to downgrade from those 2 previous watches because : In the 965 : - The sensor is already dated - Plastic finish not so good - curved screens ? Impossible to find a curved glass protector - accuracy of the datas compares to epix or ultra2 - no ECG - no temperature What I like : - lightness of the watch - versatility - amoled screen What do you think?
Hi, Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. From a budget perspective, since you already have the Ultra 2 and Epix Pro Gen2, there’s really no rush to switch. You could even try using both watches together, like I did in my video-haha! I guess Garmin might release the 975 next year. If by the time you read this, you’ve already made the switch, then just ignore what I said above. 😄 If we set aside budget concerns, let’s talk about the strengths of the 965. You’ve already mentioned them, so I won’t repeat those here. As for the downsides you mentioned, here’s what I think: 1. Sensor: It’s true that compared to the Fenix 8, the 965’s sensor feels a bit outdated. But honestly, I don’t think it’ll have a noticeable impact in everyday use. 2. Plastic Material: The use of plastic is exactly what makes it so much lighter than other watches. You’d know what I mean, especially as an Ultra 2 user, right? 3. Screen Protection: The 965’s screen is scratch-resistant, so there’s really no need for a screen protector. I’ve used my Apple Watch 3 for six years without a screen protector. One time, I fell while skateboarding and the screen landed face-down and shattered. I even recorded a short video about it-check the link below if you’re curious. Honestly, even with a screen protector, that fall wouldn’t have been survivable! Apple Watch 3 shattering video link: Apple Watch is dying before Apple Event | Is that a call? ua-cam.com/video/mlk9CBepM7E/v-deo.html 4. Data Accuracy: I do share your concern about this. If you’re worried about the accuracy, maybe try wearing it alongside the Epix or Ultra 2 to compare the data-just like you suggested, haha. 5. ECG Functionality: The Ultra 2 does have ECG, and I actually just tried it while writing this reply. But to be honest, I rarely ever use it. If this feature is important to you, you can always pair the 965 with the Ultra 2 for the best of both worlds. 6. Temperature Measurement: If you mean body temperature, the 965 actually does have this feature. I mentioned it in my video, but maybe you missed that part. These are just my personal opinions, so take them as suggestions! At the end of the day, it all depends on your needs and how you plan to use the watch. 😊
Thank you. I use my 965 purely to record my walking and running activities. Regarding all of the other functions, I prefer to rely on my own intrinsic senses, self-assessing how well I would have slept and not putting any limits on myself just because my watch tells me so. I bought this watch to replace a Fenix 6 with it’s battery no longer holding much charge, briefly turning to an Enduro 3, which was a disaster with so many firmware bugs. The 965 is a wonderful device.
Wow, thank you for sharing that! It’s great to know you’ve been using Garmin for such a long time. If I ever have any questions, I hope it’s okay to reach out to you. And yes, it seems we both agree on the 965-it’s truly an excellent device.
I wear a Series 9 as my daily watch, and wear a 965 for all workouts and sleep (I take off the AW when wearing the 965). I've been using Garmin watches since 2011, so clearly a fan...but the Apple Watch works so well with my other Apple devices that it's hard to live without. :)
Thanks for sharing your experience John. It’s very helpful. 🤝 I used the AW 3 before the AW Ultra 2-they’re great devices for other Apple devices. It’s pretty cool to wear two watches, especially after seeing Diego Maradona do it. lol
I use Athlytic app to track recovery, sleep, exertion, energy burned, stress and body battery and many more on my iPhone. I am using Ultra One watch. With combination of these, I need not invest a new watch.
I’m both Garmin Fenix 7X Pro Solar Sapphire, Garmin 965 & Apple Watch Ultra 🤪⌚️💯
3 watches? We have a winner 🥇!
Thanks for your comment!
