    As a kid I had a '67 Econoline and we installed a 327 corvette engine in it. That was 42 yrs ago... wish I had that van now. 17:33

    I had a old econoline that had a small block V8 in it. overheated until I fabricated a scope on the bottom of the body. The air scope provided plenty of air and no more overheating!

    Awesome video! I recently purchased a '63 Econoline 3 window pickup. It already had a 350ci Chevy V8, Edelbrock Carb, 3 speed automatic, front disc brakes. It was missing a tailgate, but I found one in New Hampshire that I'll have perfected.

    Dude, you’re the kind of guy I want to hang with. Swap a 302 in no time! I’ve got a hot little six in mine and was looking for a 302 to run cooler and faster. I wish I was still in SoFlo to give you a hand and pick up some tips. I’ll be following your vids for more info! My 61 is on my LexTricket channel.

    I noticed that is a Torker intake. I ran my old 302 out to 8500 rpm with one, long duration cam and a 750 Double Pumper. Not my first choice for this application, but hey still fun. Good video!

    • @bohemianmachine
      @bohemianmachine  10 місяців тому

      That was literally the only decent intake I could find locally in the week I had to drop the motor in. Going to fuel injection soon but it served its purpose to get me up and running. I’m really pretty amazed how much torque it does have because I had a Weiand Xcelerator back in the day that was the same design basically and had no low end torque. Thanks for watching!

      Being a single plane intake it will probably do fine with a throttle body FI setup. Have at it!! @@bohemianmachine

    I’ve got a 67 econoline truck. It had the 240 but I found a 68 300 on Craigslist. The 300 has 20 more horsepower, 170 and 30 extra foot pounds, 286. And the torque comes on at 1600rpm. I’m going to leave the 3on the tree because I just like it. Cheers!

    Very good vid. Two things: did you upgrade from 6 to 12 volts and, why not a 283?

    • @bohemianmachine
      @bohemianmachine  5 місяців тому

      Thanks! Ford went to 12 volts starting in 1956. Do you mean 289? 283 was Chevy. Went 302 for the roller cam.

    • @bohemianmachine
      @bohemianmachine  Рік тому +2

      Thanks! I still have the factory drums but almost finished with a custom disc setup for the front. I’m probably going to offer them as a kit after I get them tested. Will be 11 inch discs with 4 piston calipers.

    • @bohemianmachine

      I have the Champion 4 core which does NOT flow enough. I added an ATV radiator in the heater circuit that keeps it under control. Champion is now making the 240 style tall Econoline radiator but I don’t know anyone who has tried it yet with a V8.

  • @sabre6986
    @sabre6986 Рік тому

    Why would you do that when a 300 cubic inch six cylinder would be so much easier and about the same performance? Yeah yeah yeah yeah less horsepower but more torque about the same amount of cubic inches

    • @bohemianmachine
      @bohemianmachine  Рік тому +1

      Like I said in the video, I really wanted to like the big 6. But there’s just no comparison. The rumble alone, puts a smile on my face every time I start it. Yea, yeah, yeah, the six has more torque.. I did NOT find that to be true. The 302 is just a joy, 8 cylinders of groovy manliness!

      Yeah, I looked at many options. If I thought I would need it again anytime soon, and had room to store it, I would have gone that route. But mostly, I just love to try unconventional methods and I wanted to see how the davit did before mounting on my work boat.
      Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it!
