@@Linkmarine777 I disagree. He was very influential and important to the band with a huge deal in their succes, but a great guitarist? Meh, he wrote some incredible songs but technically he was mediocre and usually too wasted to even play normally just like Hendrix. It`s hard to say who`s the greatest but i`d rank Shawn Lane and Buckethead easily in the top 5 for both song writing and technical skills. Maybe throw Van Halen in there together with Malmsteen and i`d still have one very hard to fill spot with so many great players out there....
CPolishing is right. I’m not a huge Queen fan but I recognize Brian May as a living legend. I would definitely rank him as “one of the greatest guitarists of all time”. Not top 5 and probably not top 10, but recognizably great none the less. Newer players like Buckethead, Petrucci and HermanLi are technically impressive but they aren’t inspiring new players to the level that May, Page, Clapton, Nugent, Hendrix, Blackmore, Gibbons or Slash have. We’re not claiming any of their ranking, rather simply that May is a guitarist worth recognizing out of the history of everyone that’s ever picked up a guitar.

the licks starting at 1:17 so interesting how he chose to end it by pre-bending the string at 1:20 and again at 1:26. So accurately I would never have guessed it without seeing it. Precise pitch too.
For some reason i got teary eyed at the end here, Brian May himself just walking you, hand in hand, (and laughing and pointing out intricacies in it as well) through one of the most sensual solos. One of the best in pop music at least

Very electrifying! Thank you. I still recall in my memory January 1976. Bohemian Rhapsody was number one in the charts! I hit six years of age! I lived for music since I was four! Now I am happy as a 52 year old to enjoy music even more than ever!

I was about 9 when I started hearing the early music. I always wanted to play like this and when I was about fourteen I picked up the guitar listening to this music. These lead solos we're in the background of my mind throughout the early 70s. Eventually I learned how to play and how to do pull-ons and pull-offs and all the fancy stuff. I really appreciate you coming onto UA-cam and sharing your talents far as I'm concerned you made the way for people like me to come and play the guitar. This was the sound that I was trying to emulate

Package There was no Meet and Greet I mean unless you were a cancer patient and your dying wish was to meet Brian May, and even then...... LOL No.... Meeting them was unheard of , Let alone having a personal guitar lesson No.... No way in the world Now, i ironically have personally had an amazing experience (just quickly) Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Long story short I used to work at a pizza shop in western sydney maybe around , ohh i don't know , perhaps 30 years ago, give or take we used to go down to a local bowling club where this bar maid used to work, she's a friend of mine WHAT I DIDN'T KNOW LOL for a very long time was She was the cousin of Robert plant. one (i think ) new years, it could have been Xmas though, can't remember i'm pretty sure New years eve or maybe a few days after new years, i asked her what she did for the holidays , she said , time with the family , she pulls out some polaroids ( which meant... she had pictures taken from a polaroid camera.... GOOGLE IT ) and in one of them is robert plant, my drink almost went up my nose when i saw it i remember thinking it was a carboard cut out LOL (Because we had that shit in the 80s, My sister got a photo once taken with Madonna (cardboard cut out) so i figured that was that. but no... She was roberts cousin so anyone , i eventually go to meet robert AT HIS HOUSE (Amazing huh ) anyone, the price i paid was this ..... - No photos' - No Autographs - no talk of stairway to heaven of course i agreed to behave anyway it was supposed to happen the following year when they came back from touring and had their family time and she was going to get the ok from Robert that she was "Bringing a friend" to the family get together so between Led Zep not coming home for 5 years and her stringing me along I WAITED 6 YEARS (i had almost given up hope that it was going to happen, to be honest) then she said, ok you came come this year, it was like 2 months off , i was over the fucking moon (as you can imagine) anyway , the deal was , i was to come to the house and basically just say hi to robert and i didn't expect anything further because it was his family time, i was respectful i said hi this and that, and was ready to leave. Robert then invites me to the BBQ, i can't even explain what i was thinking. one one side, i didn't want to impose and be rude, on the other side, hell yes i wanted to stay ,but only if i wasn't being rude i ended up staying there around 4 or 5 hours , we had a cool time, Needless to say i cannot even fucking begin to explain the level of cool that this was on and (it wasn't discussed ) but Jimmy was at the party as well. my conflict was LOL, i wasn't allowed to talk about stairway or tell him how cool i thought the song was and all that so i tried really hard to shut up. i introduced myself, i started talking about how i'm a guitarist and this and that and how they influenced me greatly etc etc, Jimmy ends up giving me like a quick 10min lesson I mean... fuck me...... I got to hold and play Jimmy's Les Paul so yeah... GETTING BACK TO THE POINT OF GODS i had to sell my fucking soul to make this happen and even then it wasn't really guaranteed and then it sort of sprung up out of the blue just as i thought it was never going to happen and yeah..... it then did but now... having brian may give us a personal tutorial in his shorts LOL like you said...... WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN no fucking way but .... it did Anyway , i forever have a fucking cool story to tell the grandkids and then i have a slew of people who will call bullshit on it .... LOL who gives a shit at the end of the day through a freak coincidence in life and as a result of meeting a bar maid that i thought was a regular person , this turns into that and this goes with that a suzanne (LOL... I HOPE YOU GET THE REFERENCE) AND THEN WHAM... and suddenly life takes me to the home of Robert plant and in what universe did i ever think that would happen ? NOT A SINGLE ONE Now, in my line of work, i've met many celebritites, but i'll be honest, Robert and Jimmy were one of the one's that i could truly say were fucking awesome some that i met didn't mean much to me , others were not a big deal, others were just part of work and the normality of it but this , this was beyond cool and i will forever be thankful to the gods of rock that aligned the planets to make this even possible but back to brian yeah , it's one thing for me to have had what i had and how hard that was to happen BUT THIS..... WE DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR THIS SO YEAH.. I've been a fan of Queen and the individuals since they began. Unfortunately I was able to work through the lockdowns on a contract in a desolate place so I missed all of these vids until recently. Now my wife is getting hacked off with pedals....guitars and amps coming out of the closets cluttering the house up. I dare not tell her I'm looking at Brians Red Specials as my collectrion is large. Best thing is at 1:33 he got it wrong. I'm searching through all lessons, tabs and compared to his studio performance and that part should be played slightly differently. :) so YES, I'm correcting Brian May on how his solo is supposed to be played and before you criticize me go and verify it yourself.
That’s also what I found out, he plays a little bit off there and also in 1:45 he repeats the beginning of the solo which it should’ve been played between 15th, 16th in the B string and 17th fret in the G string, still good implementations though

I've been a fan of Queen and the individuals since they began. Unfortunately I was able to work through the lockdowns on a contract in a desolate place so I missed all of these vids until recently. Now my wife is getting hacked off with pedals....guitars and amps coming out of the closets cluttering the house up. I dare not tell her I'm looking at Brians Red Specials as my collectrion is large. Divorce courts here we come LOL. (Well done Brian......Top human being and it shows, I bet your wife and family are proud of you lioke the manyu fans you have linked in with). God Bless you all.

Best thing is at 1:33 he got it wrong. I'm searching through all lessons, tabs and compared to his studio performance and that part should be played slightly differently. :) so YES, I'm correcting Brian May on how his solo is supposed to be played and before you criticize me go and verify it yourself.
That’s also what I found out, he plays a little bit off there and also in 1:45 he repeats the beginning of the solo which it should’ve been played between 15th, 16th in the B string and 17th fret in the G string, still good implementations though
