Bad Company is criminally underrated. Paul Rodgers is one of the best rock vocalists, and they made a bunch of memorable songs. This song is so cool, I had to turn off my air conditioning.😂
Paul Rodgers is one of the best rock voices ever! I believe he is in his 70s and still sounds as amazing as ever. There is a live video of him singing Satisfaction Guaranteed that is great.
I can remember in the 80s, playing this whole album for a friend. He asked me if this was a greatest hits album LOL. Nope, just their debut album, every song a banger!
Free’s “All Right Now” is THE song of the entire era. Bad Company, then, followed and they were right at that pinnacle rock level. This LP was flawless.
Paul Rogers the lead singer of Bad Company was a friend of Freddie Mercury the lead singer of Queen and the Greatest Frontman in Rock. They used to talk about singing together, but it never happened. After Freddie died Paul went on tour with Queen as Queen + Paul Rogers. The tour was amazing.
This whole album is incredible. It is a fabulous "driving down the highway" album. Never heard a Bad Company song that I didn't love. They also were great in concert!
Bad Company had a number of good songs including Shooting Star, Feel Like Makin' Love, Can't Get Enough, Good Lovin' Gone Bad, Ready For Love, Rock'n' Roll Fantasy, Silver Blue & Gold, Seagull, and Run With the Pack among others. Their debut album which this is from was all really good. I recommend doing Shooting Star next.
Fun story how Bad Company got their name. The members of the band were originally roadies. For other bands. Setting up stages. Since they had to work in all kinds of weather especially heat, naturally they got very sweaty. Resulting in BO during working all day. So bands and ppl around referred to them as bad company because of it. They all knew how to play instruments naturally being around it all the time and eventually formed their own band. And they called themselves Bad Company.
I believe most of them were in the band Free prior to Bad Company. Found a live video of Paul Rodger singing "All right Now" here. ua-cam.com/video/vqdCZ0yHNa4/v-deo.html
Bad Company was one of the most successful rock bands in the 70's... signed by Led Zeppelin's label Swansong and their 1974 debut album was recorded at Headley Grange, where Zeppelin had recorded a number of albums. Formed after the dissolution of the British rock band Free, Paul Rodgers (lead vocals) and Simon Kirke (drums) teamed up w/ Mick Ralphs (guitar/ keyboards) and Boz Burrell (bass) in Bad Company and their self-titled album became an iconic classic rock record... songs included: "Can't get enough" ... 'Bad Company' ... 'Ready for love'... It sold 5x platinum (5 million copies) in the US. 2nd album 'Straight shooter' in 1975 sold 3x platinum on huge hit singles - "Feel like makin' love" ... 'Shooting star' ... "Good lovin' gone bad"... 3rd album 'Run with the pack' in 1976 sold platinum... 4th album "Burnin' sky" in 1977 was less successful, selling only gold in the US (half million copies) 'Desolation angels' in 1979 was Bad Company's 5th album and it sold much better - 2x platinum w/ the hit single "Rock n' roll fantasy". However, after the death of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham in 1980, their management eventually folded Swansong Records by 1983... Bad Company released 1 more album for them in 1982 ('Rough diamonds') and it was a commercial disappointment. Paul Rodgers soon left Bad Company... he recorded 2 albums as The Firm w/ former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Brian Howe (vocals) replaced Paul Rodgers in Bad Company w/ Mick Ralphs (guitar) and Simon Kirke (drums)... their 1986 album 'Fame and fortune was a commercial disappointment again, but Bad Company persisted. Their 7th album 'Dangerous age' was co-written w/ Terry Thomas (guitar) in 1988 and sold gold in the US w/ the single - 'No smoke without a fire'... 8th album 'Holy water' in 1990 sold platinum on the hit single - "If you needed somebody"... 'Here comes trouble' in 1992 sold gold in the US but it was the last album to feature Brian Howe on vocals. Former Bad Company singer Brian Howe passed away in 2020 at age 66 (R.I.P.) Bad Company hired Robert Hart (vocals) but 2 albums w/ him ('Company of strangers' in 1995... 'Stories told and untold' in 1996) sold poorly. Original Bad Company bassist Boz Burrell passed away in 2006. Since 1999, Bad Company reunited w/ vocalist Paul Rodgers and has toured as a legacy band on their catalog of music.... In 2019, Bad Company likely played their last shows... They have since declined to perform citing health issues. Paul Rodgers spent a few years singing Freddie Mercury's songs in concert w/ former Queen members as Queen + Paul Rodgers from 2004 to 2009 and recorded 1 album - 'The Cosmos rocks' in 2008.
You nailed the vibe of this song. I'm so glad you appreciate what a great song this is. There are some songs that should never be covered by anybody else and this is one of those songs.
Their early stuff like Shooting Star & Feel like making love were the early hits. They changed their sound a bit but came back in the 80’s to release even more albums with ballad songs.
Grew up listening to them. I was born in 91. I loved laying on the floor rocking out to my mom’s music with her. She’s the reason why I like a lot of the music I do.
I love this song and Paul Rodgers is such a great singer, it's a banger in other words. It's from 1974 I think, gosh, there were some really great songs in the 1970s!!
So happy you are doing this one. Start to finish, this album stands with the greatest of the greats -deserving of being heard start to finish, in order, even if it’s just in your car and not for the channel. Thank you for bringing us this one, and for your thoughts on it.
Saw him in Virginia Beach 5-6 years ago........ he still has the goods! one of the most sought after ICONIC voices in the industry! He almost wound up as Led Zeppelin's lead vocal. Paul Rogers released a record in 2023 entitled midnight Rose, first original material in 24 years. Not sure if he will ever tour again, my guess is he will. Thru the years he has taken care of himself, mainly, NO DRUGS! PR is 74 years old and going strong. Great reaction,TY.
Paul Rogers has one of the best rock voices in my opinion.i was born in the ass end of the 1970's and had a rocker mother so grew up with music like this, none of my friends knew about this sort of music. I was very fortunate to see him sing live in the 90's while he was on his muddywater blues tour, epic!
"Shooting Star" is a personal fave. The story of a rock star from his dreams, to his success, to the inevitable fizzling out. Paul Rogers is one of the best to ever grab a mic. Free, Bad Co., The Firm.... he even toured with Queen for a bit.
I, too was 14, a freshman in highschool when this was released and its still a favorite. The song is about times during the Civil War when soldiers who were either defeated or dissolutioned with war through away their swords and rank and used the skills they had developed in guerilla warfare and became outlaws. Just that simple. A timeless song with a timeless story.
Love seeing a younger generation enjoying the sound track of life in 70s & early 80s. We really did have the best music; very much the Golden Era of music😊
He also sang a few songs from his days with Free as well as some from Bad Company in a concert that I saw on UA-cam. The band was flawless as usual and Paul’s voice was as strong and amazing as when I first heard him in Free.

Yes getting to the source material. You could spend a month on Bad Company and the members. Check out his band from the 80s The Firm. Also Paul is the current lead singer for Queen
Pegasus: Lead Singer Paul Rodgers followed up later with a one-album collaboration with guitarist Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin - it produced the hit "Radioactive
This track was used in an episode of The Young Riders, a tv series about the pony express, when Jimmy “Wild Bill” Hickock mistakenly shot a woman who ran into his line of fire and made him feel like this was his destiny.
You'll love watching them live especially now or just a few years back they're even better to me Paul Roger's voice has aged like a fine wine...may I recommend (burning sky) live Paul is wearing a red vest and they're older also can't get enough/honeychild live...great reaction ❤
lmao this was our "walkout" song to go to court! Somebody was always going to jail and court. I married one of them bad boys. We are people's GaGa and PawPaw now....hahahahahaha just a reminder that this song plays in Gen X heads ALL THE TIME...we are ready to "walk out" any time anywhere with the songs in our heads on full blast.
I love that you are openly exploring and learning where things come from, some of the best stuff is old stuff, covers are cool, remakes can be great but the originals stand up.
I love Bad Co!!!!! I grew up listening to their songs and love their music. One of my favorite songs they have is "Seagull" .. it's so beautiful.. thanks BP!! Check out "Feel Like Makin' Love", "Shooting Star", "Ready for Love", "Simple Man", RunWith the Pack", "Don't Let Me Down", "Love Me Somebody"
Glad you got to this one of my favorite bad company songs. I think you should also check out wildfire woman, and their song shooting star. I also happen to be a fan of their ballad called Seagull not that known but from their first album it’s great. One more thing since you mentioned renegade did you ever check out the Styx song renegade?
They have SO many great songs, Rock & Roll Fantasy, Feel Like Makin' Love, Shooting Star were some of their biggest hits. You can't go wrong with any of these.
This is one of the greatest vocalists ever by the way no one would argue this statement! I seen him a few years back and he was like 69 or 70 years old and my jaw was on the ground. Power, tone, lost nothing whatsoever! He sounded 20 years old!
I was fortunate to see Bad Company twice. At both shows, a year apart, the Opening band was Damn Yankees (yep, Damn Yankees: Tommy Shaw, Ted Nugent, Jack Blades and Robert Cortellone). And, I still have the concert ticket / ticket stubs from the shows. I was born, six gun in my hand.... behind the gun, I'll make my final stand....
One of the best debut albums EVER. And Paul Rodgers has one of the best rock voices in the history of the genre.
I believe it was also the first album released by Led Zepplins new record label, Swan Song.
Coming to say the same thing!!! 👏👏👏
Agreed!❤
Yes - Not one bad song on the whole album!
I definitely agree.

And still sings like he is still 21 in his 70s

I was fortunate to see Bad Company twice. At both shows, a year apart, the Opening band was Damn Yankees (yep, Damn Yankees: Tommy Shaw, Ted Nugent, Jack Blades and Robert Cortellone). And, I still have the concert ticket / ticket stubs from the shows. I was born, six gun in my hand.... behind the gun, I'll make my final stand....
