People tend to default to always believing that the newest camera is the best because it’s more technologically advanced or has more megapixels or whatever, but the latest model is not always better in every way. That is what this video is about. It’s like the specs of a new Porsche are more advanced in every way, but does that make the new Porsche better than a Classic Porsche? I don’t think so.
Depends on your metrics I suppose. If you are basing on style and memories maybe you will prefer the older Porsches. But on a pure performance basis the new models will leave those older ones way behind on either the street or the track. So I guess the question becomes are you a concours Porsche guy or a driver Porsche guy. Me I am heavily biased towards driving having raced them for more that 20 years.
It's great that you enjoy your camera and respect for that. For me though, I prefer the M11 for More accurate metering, USB-C charging, Larger Battery, Less noise, Higher internal memory, Geotagging images, better buffer memory. iPhones and many devices have USB charging with exposed USB ports. To each their own though.
Point is the newer one is not always better in every way like people assume.
I have the M10-R silver that I bought new for near a 33% discount over an M11. So not only is it better for all the reasons you mentioned, but if you shop around you may find a huge deal verses the M11. Huge deal for a Leica that is. :)
Oh! That black paint is beautiful! My M10-D is the ultimate digital M for me, pure classic.
just a quick question : is there a way to uncouple AE while half pressing the shutter button ( or once you half press the shutter in A mode it's locked to the value it was reading at the instant you pressed the shutter ) ?
The black paint looks really nice on your camera. I do wish in the future Leica would have two card slots. Plus a vertical battery grip option. It’s such a useful accessory on all my other cameras to have that ability.
oooof the m10-r BP is a beaut, congrats! Totally agree the m10 line up was peak leica aesthetics. i wish i got that one but I'm pretty happy with my m10p safari.
M9 is a wonderful camera. Especially in the summer when the lighting is good.
this video looks sharp. what are you using to shoot it?
DJI Osmo Pocket 3
@@phototristan wow! it looks great. I have to check that out.
It's partly the good lighting too.
interesting, thanks, ... I have the Leica M10P *white* Limited Edition + 50 Summilux + 1.4x VF Magnifier
Very nice!
When I buy my m10r bp already release m11
But m11 can’t install my favorite kamerakraft grip
I will keep stay with my m10r
The shutter sound on the M10 is loud but I loved it, beside that ever since moving to the M11, I have no worry about the battery life, one battery and one powerbank, I can go for days of casual shooting when on a trip and not have to carry 3-4 spares like I did with the M10, usb-c charging is much needed. Beside that better light metering and electronic shutter for wide open shot in daylight. But I get your point, not everything new is better, M10-R is a dream for many, especially the black paint version that you have. cheers
They quieted the shutter starting with the M10-P. M10-R also.
I honestly found the baseplate on my M10-P a nice nod to the heritage but also utterly superfluous! The new design just makes more sense, and the battery life (especially if using live view) more than makes up for something that makes the digital camera more akin to the film cameras that came before. The black paint does look very nice though.
I shoot an M10 which I do really enjoy shooting but I’ll be buying an M11-P as soon as I can.
The increased battery life, internal memory, USB charging and clickable rear dial I can set to ISO alone are worth the upgrades for me.
There's actually a way to set the ISO on the M10 only with the Menu button. Let me know if I should do a video on that.
Who said so?
M10 has color-rendering problem and highlight blown due to wrong ISO setting.
Base ISO is not 100 but 160.
If you set ISO 100, you will see blown highlight so often.
If you want M10 body, please get M10-R.
Subscribed, liked, agreed. I returned 2… yes that’s 2 M11Ps and went back to the M10.
given that I can't afford either, this video is very informative
Beautiful camera, minus the screen protector.
I highly recommend the M10 Monochrom, man the files are stunning.
Thanks. I want one.
Nce strap! What brand is the strap?
I don't know if they make it any more but it's this one: amzn.to/3fqnJnT
I absolutely love my M10-P black chrome. However, since I bought my M11 I have only shot with it a couple of times as a second body on a shoot. The M11 provides a superior shooting experience and superior image quality in my experience. The experience part is of course simply preference based. I am very happy to be done with the inconvenience of the retro bottom plate. It provides no useful functionality. The black paint is absolutely stunning, and feels great in the hand I will agree.
M11 Monochrom is the best camera ever produced by Leica and maybe ever. That's just an objective fact.
M10 Monochrom is better as it has the classic film M form-factor that the M11 body lacks.
