My professional work is on Hasselblad and Nikon and I love those cameras, but my personal work on the M10-R and the M7 is of a different magnitude of ‘love for photography’. These cameras are so engaging. Great review by the way!

I loved the M10-R when using it, it was the camera that made me buy my Leica M-E. I do really like the look of the M7, but it's a toss up for the M7 or M2/M-A when I want a film Leica, and that will only be when I want to sell my Nikon F5.... Which might be never as it's so good!

Funny how that strong that Leica pull can be. I sold all of my Fujifilm kit to finance the M10-R + 50mm 'Lux!

I have the Q the SL-2 and the CL. I also started with a film M4-P and a load of M glass.
I really want either a SL-2 or CL monochrom body so like you have already said a fixed
28mm is great for walk around but the CL is better. I am going to get the APS-C
Sigma L mount 18-50mm zoom, my first CL zoom which will be my daytime walk around lens
All my other CL lenses are F1.4 because of the lack of IBIS, need faster shutter speed and
to hold the ISO down for better IQ.
I have been reading about the rumor that the M11 may have an EVF. I like that idea because
if your rangefinder gets a whack the camera needs to go back to Leica or it won't focus
accurately. Besides EVF have become very good, the SL-2 5.7mp EVF is amazing.
You can see exactly what your final result is on screen so you can change your settings
before you snap the shutter, you can see your DOF, exact composition.
I would prefer a 40mp to the 24mp of the M10 discontinued models.

Very elaborate comment, and completely agree regarding rangefinder vs EVF... I love the M10-R it is amazing and I love to have lens options, hence why I like the idea of the Q but not it's fixed lens or 28mm, 50 is more my ideal lens and the 135 for reach when needed. Thanks for the comment and enjoy your sl-2 they look amazing

I’m sticking with my M240, no need for the extra Mp. The M240 does exactly what I need and like. Haven’t used my D810 for a few years now, even though the M240 is 12mp less.

I loved using the M10-R, but this video was made before I got my Leica M-E typ220 and I love it's 18mp CCD sensor... Does everything I need and more, if I where to buy a new Leica, I would opt for the M10-R, only because it's the best of both worlds... But very very happy with my M-E

    • @Nick_r

I’ve never felt the need to upgrade at all. I have skipped, M10, M10R and M11, perfectly happy with the M240. I used to chase megapix, not any more though.

Thank you so much for such a good review. I got it rid of my Nikon D810 but went for Fuji GFX50R. Felt the experience was similar to the L but more more modern. (Rangerfinder-like shooting style but uses an EVF with autofocus instead). Not dissimilar form to the L, particularly if the small 50mm lens is used. Image quality is even better than the L in my subjective view as is the colour output straight out of the camera. Far cheaper system to build as well. Only disadvantage is the volume of some of the lenses.

Thanks for the comment, the GFX 50R it's a brilliant camera for the price, I'm glad your happy with it, I need to use one more to make my final judgement.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. Have you found that shooting handheld is at all challenging with 40mp on this camera? If so, have you had to change your shooting technique to compensate? Personally I have found that consistently getting sharp images with my 36mp D810 is more difficult than with my 24mp D3X (and lower mp cameras all the more so).

    • @SebastianOakley
      @SebastianOakley  2 роки тому

Thank you for the comment :) - Personally, I haven't seen an issue, but I have heard others mention this. But it is something I didn't notice on the M10-R or even the M11 and I took an image at night at a 1/6s at f/8 and it was pin sharp... Maybe try and hold your breath slightly when you take the picture to see if this improves things?... Sorry I can provide any more help other than practice

I love the thought of the Q/Q2 however, the 28mm is a little too wide for my liking. The M10-R is truly a workhorse in a beautiful form factor.

Great video! Makes me nearly wanna sell my gfx for the M10R.. what lens was on the camera? Was it the Apo Summicron? - Really love that shot of the bird, great framing and colors.

Nilo, thank you for the kind comments. I had the 50mm Summilux f/1.4 and it was perfect. I am honestly considering selling my vast collection on Nikon equipment to go to the M10-R with 50mm lux and 135mm.
I also love the bird image, I was super please with all the images and could see myself evolving to the camera as the images went on.

Hi Sebastian, thanks again for video, but I wonder if I could ask you a quick Q ? If you has the opportunity to buy the M11 instead of the M10-R, would that be an easy choice for you ? Would you simply go for the new camera with the even larger mp’s and the dropped bottom plate, or stay with the M10-R ? I ask because both models seem similarly, and oddly, priced at roughly the same price. Just curious; be good to have a model title for my dreams … one day !! Thks again for video.

@@williamgoss4691 I would say this completely depends on your output as a photographer. If you regularly print your work to a good size, you will have a benefit from the M11... However, if you mostly post on social media, but still want the quality to crop images and retain good detail, and be able to print now and then to a good size, I'd say the M10-R is the one. Honestly, if I was offered either the M11 or M10-R, I would pick the M10-R
