  • Let me tell you, the quality of the Leica M10 is out of this world! The photos it produces are crystal clear and sharp, with so much depth and emotion. It's like the camera can see straight into the soul of the subjects I capture!
    Now, shooting with a Range Finder camera like the M10 was a whole new experience for me. No fancy viewfinder, just me and the scene, immersed in the moment. I had to rely on my instincts to nail the perfect shot, and it's been a wild ride of learning and growing as a photographer. 🌟
    The manual focusing on this camera brought back some old-school charm. Adjusting focus manually made me feel like a true artist, crafting each shot with love and care. It's incredible how much more connected I felt to my subjects.
    I've dabbled in all sorts of photography this year - from bustling streets to beautiful landscapes, candid moments to heartwarming portraits. The Leica M10 has been my trusty sidekick through it all, adapting to every situation like a pro!
    One thing I absolutely adore about this camera is how discreet it is. It's like a silent ninja, allowing me to capture real, raw moments without intruding or interrupting the flow. Those candid expressions and genuine emotions are what make each shot so special. ❤️
    This year has been a journey of self-discovery, passion, and a whole lot of fun! The Leica M10 has truly transformed the way I see the world through my lens, making me slow down and appreciate the little things. And now, all those beautiful memories are tucked away in those 15,000 frames.

    Well-done! I am glad that the “algorithm” recommended your presentation. Liked, and subscribed!
    I became interested in acquiring a Leica 50mm Summilux-M 50mm ASPH, a number of years ago, probably when the M9 was the extant digital M camera, and I started using an original iPad to seriously look at reviews and sample images on-line. If I recall correctly, my initial M camera goal was a Leica MP 35mm film camera, after I saw a pre-owned MP at a Leica dealer. Not until April 2018, after a one-time, modest, post-retirement financial windfall, was I able to justify buying a pre-owned Summilux, which coincided with when it had just become possible to buy a new M10, without having to first be on a waiting list. Thus far, the M10 seems to remain just what I need, for meditative, intentional, creative shooting, with a simple, reasonably compact interchangeable-lens camera.
    Meditative, intentional, creative shooting, using manual focus, can certainly be done with a modern camera, that has AF. My early lessons were with a Nikon D300s DSLR, and an AF lens, but my mentor, who was/is my wife, made sure that I learned manually focusing, first, before we finally switched the lens to AF. Even so, the simpler M10 controls, and the act of aligning the rangefinger patch, to align the two images, adds to the intentionality. Some other camera systems have focusing aids, visible within the viewfinder, but there is something special about aligning two images, into one image.
    There are lenses, made for other systems, that have the distance and DOF scales, for distance/scale focusing, so, Leica does not have a monopoly on that aspect of shooting.
    I have very little need for video capability, so, know nothing about using Q-series cameras for that purpose, and am, therefore, unqualified to be helpful regarding such things. I am too devoted to 35mm, 50mm, and some amount of short telephoto, to be able to justify adding a Q. (Plus, my wife and I also use Nikon DSLRs. She is the more-senior photographer, by far. If I want to shoot video, with anything other than an iPhone, it will have to be with a Nikon camera.)

      But I'd like to have a different 35mm. The Voigtländer I have right now is a little too soft for me. It's a vibe, but a little cleaner would be nice.

    I rented an M10 and Summicron 50 f2 v5 (?) for a week or so, it was interesting for sure. The one they sent me definitely had some use. The top base plate, in its entirety from the rear vf to the front vf window was heavily dented in. And the leather neck strap smelled HEAVILY of spicy cologne lol. Regardless, the thing was an absolute champ and it was a real joy to use. What I found in my experience is that there's no in between...you either took a really nice photo with it, or you got really bad photos from it. The camera was sure to let you know which one, which in return helps you become better in your photography skills. The ones that I nailed looked right out of the magazines in their exposure, color, detail, etc. I've been kicking around getting an M camera and I'm honestly leaning towards getting a regular M10 instead of an M11, I just enjoyed it's simplicity that much, as well as being half of the price and no issues like what the M11 is suffering from. Great video and thanks for sharing your experience with us! I really like your photos, they're definitely unique and not generic!

      Used M240 is a great deal. Usually under 3k. It has more in common with the M10 and M11 than might be expected, and it even has a video capability that neither of those cameras has.

      Dude, feel you!
      Depends on what you need I guess.
      After using the M10 for over a year now, I realised that I want my everyday Camera to be able to record good Video as well. That's why I'm getting a Q3 when it's available.
      If you're fine with Photos only, the M10 is a always a great choice.
      I have my own preset that simply developed over the years of using Lightroom. I use it for really everything. :D
      Is shoot raw with my Leica and my R6 (and I hat a A7II as well) and with the preset I get a consistent look regardless of the camera brand. :)

    Nice videos. Just found your channel and subbed. So I’m an R6 mk1 shooter. I have a few rf lenses and I love that system. I travel the world playing music and take it on all my trips. The problem I’m having is I don’t take it out of the bag as much as I would like. I need a smaller setup. Busting out my r6 with a 24-70 backstage feels so intrusive and people act differently. I love how you say in between moments and with that set up you get posses. I take out my x100v far more often but I’m not the biggest fan of its low light. I’m looking for a full frame version of my Fuji setup. I guess I’m asking would you buy an m10 or q2//q3? I know everyone is different and you can’t answer for me but just curious on your thoughts. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work.

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  9 місяців тому

      Alright, here we go!
      Yeah, I can see that the R6 with your 24-70 is rather big. I have the same R6 and a few RF lenses as well.
      I got the M10 for this exact reason. A smaller, unintrisive setup, that produces stellar images!
      I thought about your Fuji as well, but I just love fullframe.
      What I realised with my M10 is that in quite some moments I want it to have autofocus. When I walk with friends and I want to take a snap because the scene is really nice, it forces me to use both hands. A one handed operation is difficult. I could go f8 to f11, but I don't want that mostly. That's why I'm waiting to get a Q3 myself.
      And I can imagine that the Q3 would be a nice Camera for you, since you want Video as well. The Audio is not that nice, but for High End Everyday moments it's perfect imo.
      And the Lens produces really, really nice photos. I tried it in the shop a little and put in my SD card to review the photos.
      And like little snippets of the 4K 60 are lovely!
      It's not a perfect camera. It has some quirks, especially for the high price, but the overall vibe and package is gonna be great. It's a Camera you want to pick up and use. And that's really important for me.
      The Sony ZV E1 is also Fullframe, extremely small and insanely capable.
      Dude, I think you should look at that camera as well. For 6000 cash you can get the ZV E1 and some small Lenses, like the 35 1.8 and 24 1.8.
      and even more Lenses.
      Since it has the flipout screen it's nice for filming yourself as well.
      I think I'll look into the little guy as well one more time.
      But I mean the Leica is just a vibe. It's also a conversation starter, since people react on seeing it sometimes.
      One last thought on the two Cameras:
      With the Leica, you can't change Lenses. And that's liberating sometimes I think. Since you don't have the option, you don't seek out lenses after some time and just go and use it.
      With the Sony it would be a possible start for some GAS (Gear Aquiary Syndrom) haha :D
      What do you think about this? :)
      Have a good one!

    • @rebelwithano
      @rebelwithano 9 місяців тому

      @@dasignarts I didn’t think about the Sony….I’m not sure I want to go that route. I would lust after lenses and then I’ll be in the same boat I’m in now. I’m leaning towards the q3/2. One and done. I love the idea of the rangefinder Manuel focus system but you bring up a good point with the auto focus. I think for my situation at the moment I should just replace my Fuji with a similar sized full frame q3. At least for the time being that’s where my head is at. It’s gonna be a while till they’re in stock so we’ll see if my mind plays tricks on me and steers me in a different direction. Thank you for your well thought out reply and good luck on the channel. I work mostly with One lens. Even Pro work! Uva filter, lens shade. Strap. Travel light travel far! I'm 79.. OH! Cost! I would Not buy Digital. The cost factor. Too soon a new model. The Q2 whatever is big and heavy! I use small digital, that really can fit in a pocket! The simplicity becomes a great feature!

    I would have bailed on this video immediately because of the overbearing music, but I did manage to get through it. I’m confused though. What is the rationale of buying a camera whose most distinctive feature is its method of manually focusing the image, and then setting it to a point and shoot mode and not manually focusing? You’re saying you want to slow down, but then you do the fastest possible method of focusing the camera -which is to not focus. What percentage of your photography is done using zone focus vs manually focusing?

    • @dasignarts
      @dasignarts  11 місяців тому +1

      Really good point you’re making here! 👌🏻👌🏻✨ makes me think!
      Regarding the music, I tried something new here. A different music would work as well. That’s true. :)
      Thank you for taking the time and watch it :)
      I like the craft of learning to zone focus at wide open aperture. It’s a skill that’s just fun to develop. And it happens to be fast as well. So when I need to be fast, I can.
      In other more slow paced moments I like to take my time as well.
      But simply using the camera one handed doesn’t work, since the M10 is manual only. And this step alone makes me a little slower than with my Canon R6. So I feel slower. :)
      To what percentage I use the Zone vs Viewfinder method could be maybe
      60-70% Viewfinder
      30-40% Zone focusing
      Hope that answers your questions :))
