I would design something to take away that length of metal between the hydraulic lifts/levelers The spare tire cradle is designed to go to the floor, thus making it easy to take off and put the damaged tire back.

I'm looking to purchase a spare wheel, the front steel wheels have a spacer behind the lug nuts-gave me impression it wouldn't interchange with the rear. Thanks for your insights
I think the spacer you are talking about is the attached washer on the back side of the lugnut? The washer is attached to the lugnut (pressed in), but free spins to the lugnut portion. Those are typical lugnuts for many dually wheels (steel or aluminum). Hope that helps. You can do a internet search for lugnuts with washers attached, and that will get you more info.
This spacer for lack of a better term is about 6-7" diameter that all 6 studs pass thru then a washer and nut. I haven't removed it yet but it encompasses the entire center of rim. 2016 Sprinter 16" wheel. Lug pattern looks just like your spare rim but protrudes inny rather than outey:) guess I just need to take wheel off - look at it so make sure order correct wheel- trip from Oregon to Texas coming up, Happy RVING to ya
@Mr22Twain hmmm. Maybe your are talking about the black plastic ring on the steel wheel. I think that's just a cover to hide the center hub. Aluminum rims have a shiny cover that looks like the rim.

Should do a video on how to use all the systems. While on shore power and boon docking. How to use generator? All that. Maybe even setup the RV. Only reason I say that is I haven’t found one yet haha We pick up our 2022 24d view up Tuesday.

I had just watched part one of the tire vids and did find it helpful. I was just starting to wonder about how to get the spare down when this vid popped up. Not boring if it's the info your looking for, which it was for me. Thanks.
None that I've seen. It's a nylock lockout that is normally covered in a big plastic handle. It's nearly seized on the cheap metal hangar. It presses against a hollow sq. tube so tightening snug against the tube without deformity the tube should be fine. Double Nutting it would make a safe bet.
When I first tried to remove the plastic handle, it was on there too tight, and I had to use a large adjustable wrench. While using the wrench, the plastic handle just fell off. That is when I realized the handle was just pressed onto the nut. So I decided to remove the handle on the 2nd nut. I just used large plumbers pliers and twisted it off. It came off pretty easy.
I see. If you haven't already, you may want to check the condition of the nylock nut. The nylon acts as a locknut and if the nylon melted when torched, the lock feature may not work and can loosen up over time. You may know all this already but just in case.
Yes that bar can be removed but a decent amount of work. You have to remove u bolts from each jack and thr bolt that connects. Probably more work to do it that way, but you may have to do it of you don't have enough ground clearance.
It is nice to have room under the motorhome where the spare can nest in there, (it is a pain to remove it when you have a flat though) I am going to check out my rv under side, I do not believe there is room there, I plan to carry a tandem bike on the rear hitch, now that I just have to make up something so I can mount the spare first in front of the bike and carry both at the same time. Looking forward to see more videos, thanks
@@rvlifediy I had a 2011 Sunseeker 28 footer for over 10 years, and we like it very much, after researching the rv market for a replacement, I found the new 2022 Sunseeker MBS series fits my need the most, although there are a lot of other more luxurious choice but they are almost another70-80 grands more Canadian $, there aren’t much discounting during these Covid times, I get this rv for all the new safety features and a few other options like theatre seats, Murphy bed with sofa, larger fridge, huge rear washroom shower and shorter smaller overall size, make it a lot more easier to drive and handle. Good for senior citizen owners.
@@yewlingchan465 yes that's a great choice. I've researched and reviewed many rvs on the sprinter chassis. The one that are higher price don't justify their price. They all have about the same deficiencies in different areas. I've researched the coveted LTV Unity and that has its own set of big issues nobody talks about. I think you made a great choice.
would love to see you convert spare tire to bumper carrier. In a flat situation I find getting to the spare is impossible.

I will likely do that with future RVs. And yes almost impossible to get way under the RV on the side of the highway with a flat.

Yeah that bar is definitely a nuisance. It was probably the easiest and cheapest for the manufacturer to put in.
@@rvlifediy It looks like there are only a couple of bolts to take off and a couple to loosen off and it can be moved out of the way.
@@SlimTortoise yeah it has 2 U bolts on each end and a bolt in the middle of the bar. Not overly complicated to remove.

Yes hopefully you never have to. If it was on the side of the road on an unlevel surface, it would be really difficult to remove.

@@rvlifediy I just burned mine off with torch. I tried the method you mentioned but the plastic was delaminated from the nylon lined nut.

Yes. Came from the factory in that location. Probably not the best location but had no issues there yet.

What RV brand do you have? Yes a hitch carrier is probably the best option.
