My Bestway 16x10x42 pool didnt even have any instructions on how to set up the pump. I was so frustrated until I found your video. Going to try and set up the pump now. Thanks for this great video.

What i could NOT do, are the logistics of putting this pool together without you today. Ty again. To note, i did it by myself with your help
Thanks for the comment! I really enjoy hearing when a video has been helpful to someone. Believe it or not, my kids had some good ideas as we put this together, so I'm glad to pass those on!
Thank u I’ve done this numerous times i don’t know why i mixed the hoses up …rushing probably…numerous videos later i came across yours today the outtake valve was sucking water in instead of out i had the short hose for the outtake once i changed the hoses it worked ☺ if this happens to anyone check your hoses it really does matter I just can’t believe I did that!!!!! Thanks again and yes just setting our 20x52 pool 🏊♀ up now better late than never…
We bought the Sam’s $400 pool with Pom-pom filter. Put it up for the winter. All hoses are cracking/leaking, all o-rings leak. Any idea where to source QUALITY replacements.
I upgraded mine to a sand filter last year. Bought it off of Amazon (amzn.to/4alXGLN) and it's cheaper now than when I bought it last year. Worked great all last summer but I haven't yet hooked it back up. I followed the installation instructions from this other YT video (ua-cam.com/video/TEFDOiZKqGg/v-deo.htmlsi=fy4hlUMiSFGkKt6N). I've bought replacement hoses for my pumps on Amazon. They're all about the same quality but what I do is make sure the hoses are supported in such as way as to not be pulling at their connection points. In other words, I'll put a bucket or a tray under the hoses at the midpoint to help straighten the hose and not have as hard a bend where they enter/exit the valves. Keeps them from cracking as quickly.
The water pumping back in the pool has very low pressure…any advice or did I get a lemon…it’s not the filter cartridge…this has been the way it is since day one
Another "thanks" to you for posting that video about the pumps. I had mine hooked up properly , but the manual was not that easy to understand about letting the air out. The Bestway / Coleman pools are great, but I find their instructions are lacking details that *I* think would be helpful. Do you leave your pump running 24/7 ? I had a smaller pool, and the pump actually had a timer attached to it. This one does not. Again, something that most people probably wouldn't think about, but people like me might like to know for clarity :)
No, my pump (which I've upgraded) only runs 10 hours per day. That's pretty standard. Also, my initial pump from Bestway had a timer that was part of the plug. Yours doesn't have that?
@@FixEverythingYourself I'll double check when I get home but I didnt notice one on this pump. My old one did. Do you run it at night or during the day?
Can anyone tell me why a green light started flashing on mine.Pump turns on then kicks off instantly I clean the filter daily. The pump is only 2 to 3 weeks old. I can’t find anything in troubleshooting that even talks about a green flashing light.
The hoses on my several years old pump are cracking. We bought a used 18"×48" Coleman Steel aboveground pool 3 years ago. Pool is still perfect, as is pump, its the hoses. So i can't find the exact pump that came with the pool, this one will work, I am hopeful. Our pool has same connection set up as yours. Oh, love the background accompaniment
I happened to think, you could just raise the pump assembly above the water level and support it on a box or something to change the filter if they can't justify buying another valve. (Great video by the way!)
The part in the pool that supposed to suck the water in feels like it’s vibrating but it’s hard to see if water is going in. We can see it come out the other side. Is that normal?
Hmmm, vibrating is a bit weird. That may indicate that there's a kink in the line or somehow the water isn't flowing in properly. Mine doesn't vibrate. I recommend making sure there are no kinks or sharp bends in the hose. Maybe also make sure the water is flowing downhill to the pump as much as possible. If the pump is elevated and has to suck the water uphill, that could be causing a lack of water to get to the pump and possible vibration. Another thing is to make sure that the outlet hose (into the pool) isn't kinked and that the valve at the pool connection is in the unlocked/open position (i.e., water can flow into the pool). It's possible that if there's a blockage of some sort on the outlet, it would cause problems on the inlet side, too. Last thing I'd recommend is to make sure there's no air in the pump. This can definitely cause noise and possibly vibration problems. To check/remove air from the pump, turn the pump off and make sure any valves on the inlet or outlet hoses are OPEN. Then unscrew the top knob on the pump until you hear air hissing as it comes out and/or water comes out. Once the hissing stops and only water is coming out, you know that you've removed all air.
Or if you install this valve, you would shut this one off and the one that came with the pool on the output side. ua-cam.com/video/aK6HL-bZxO0/v-deo.html
Oh. Looked that shut off valve you mentioned. 😮not sure how, where it goes for when changing filter. Think you could video that, please. I need visual.
No, pump doesn't need to run constantly. If the pump is the right size for your pool, it'll need to run 8-10 hours per day to cycle all the water through the filter each day. And prime time for running the pump is during the day when people are (or would be) swimming. But doesn't need to run all night.
I see you installed the two filters inside the pool/water, I believe that was B & B. I have those two, but I also have a third porthole that is probably A (looks like its behind your ladder), does that need a filter inside the pool as well?
There should be water going to the pump from both B ports. It may not feel like there's much suction if you feel them inside the pool so check each hose to see if there's water flowing through both.
Hmmm. That's a bummer. There are a lot of these on Amazon (amzn.to/4esCkyW) but you may want to contact Bestway first to see if they'll send you one. They probably will.
Yes, before it starts. Open up all valves so water can flow in/out of the pump, and open the air-release valve on the top of the pump until no more air hisses. Then the pump is ready to turn on.
It's probably going to be fine but since it's easy to rearrange them, I'd recommend correcting it. I think the discharge port with the wider slots will do a better job discharging and, if it's reversed, won't stop some of the bigger stuff that the intake ports are supposed to filter out. But obviously it's working okay right now so I don't think it'll damage anything in the short term.
The tiles were just some ones that were on clearance at Lowes that looked like they'd work. Nothing special. Perhaps I'd recognize them if I was in the store but maybe not. I think any solid tile will work if the ground is reasonably smooth and compacted beneath it. Good luck!
It needs to run long enough to filter approximately the entire pool. But unless you know how much the pump pumps per hour, that answer probably isn't helpful 😄. So I'd say 8-12 hours/day in the summer is appropriate. But doesn't need to run all night. And there may be a timer on the plug itself that you can set to the daily duration you want.
Mine seems to consistently fill with air once I switch it on and is very noisy with a reduced outflow. If I open the air release while it’s on it seems to work a bit better. I can’t see how air is getting in as all connections look good. Any ideas?
With the pump off, look at all of the hoses and see if there's any air at any place in the hose. Perhaps the hose is trapping some air somehow. Try lifting the hoses off the ground (while connected) to see if there are air pockets somewhere. If so, you may just need to move the pump to a lower location or arrange the hoses a little differently to prevent this.
Yes, the pump needs to circulate the water to clean it and make it less likely for bacteria to form. Stagnant water, like pond water, is not good to swim in.
Not sure what you mean but I can't add photos or additional video at this point. However, the video shows the components I install on the inside of the pool, and the hoses attach to the outside of the pool and go to the pump/filter.
Are you referring to the plastic piece that's the shape of an 'L' and a hose attaches to it? It's called a "connection valve" but I'd call it the outlet valve. The word "valve" is definitely in the name.
Are you referring to when you open it up to clean the filter? You'll either need to install a valve so you can shut off the water or you have to lift the pump to a level higher than the water in the pool.
@@FixEverythingYourself I opened it unknowingly. I just had it assembled Friday. I took a video of it. Idk how to describe it I can tell the water is receding inside the pool
@dekedrakasera9438 Got it. First, lift the entire pump higher than the level of the water in the pool. Maybe put it on a small table or something like that. That will stop the water. Then you have to take the circular gray lid (has a black rubber o-ring on it) and place it in the opening on the top of the pump. Then take the large gray nut (looks like a big ring) and screw that onto the top of the pump and lid. That's what locks the lid in place and will keep the water in.
Typically, yes. It doesn't have to be but it would be noisy always hearing the water gushing in and splashing into the pool. The way these pools are designed, both inlet and outlet are below the water surface.
Are you referring to that black plastic part in the side of the pool? That's where the water coming from the pump goes back into the pool. I don't know what Bestway calls it - maybe a "debris filter" or something like that.
@@FixEverythingYourself yeah but you had to the one you were installing and then there was one further down I was wondering why there was two did not look like another hose was going to it
There are two inlet hoses going to the pump (and two of those plastic debris screens/filters), and one outlet hose going from the pump to the pool (and one debris filter - the one behind the ladder in the video). So yes, they all have hoses attached to them.
First, plug it in. Then there are 5 lights on the plug. Each light represents 2 hours of run time per day. Most pools need 8-10 hours per day. Push one of the buttons on the plug (can't remember which) until 4 or 5 lights are lit up. The pump will now run that many hours every day, and it'll turn on at the same time each day as when you plugged it in for the first time. For example, if you do this at 8 p.m. tonight, the pump will turn on at 8 p.m. every night and run for 8 hours. It should run during the day instead.
All necessary hardware came with mine. That said, Walmart sells essentially these same pools, pumps, and other hardware so you may check there. Their pools are a different brand but nearly identical.
Without it, water will flood out of the pool when you open the filter housing. So either the pump/filter would need to be higher than the level of the return hose, or a valve/shutoff is needed.
Thx for the reply! Yes my return valve is alittle higher than water line( adds nice sound) i can see this valve useful for the exit valve. I simply discount the intake line to the pump and put it over the edge into pool. Strange the factory didnt hv a turn off valve for the exit hose.

This pool doesn't come with one, just this paper filter pump. Sam's Club sells nearly this same pool with a sand filter for $400. Just saw it yesterday.
I bought the Bestway Steel Pro Max from Academy two years ago. The pump is cheap so I replaced it with a sand filter, as I noted. My hoses cracked, too, so I bought new ones. I still think I got my money's worth on the pool because it holds water and is so much cheaper than an in-ground pool. But I hear you on the low-quality nature of a lot of the accessories.
@@FixEverythingYourself 😮i thought it was other way around? B & B sucks in the water, gets filtered in the pump and then spits it out into the pool thru A.

Thank you. 😊
👍🙂
Thank you so much for this vid, the directions it came with were trash!
You're right, the directions on most of the pools are terrible. Glad this helped!
That pump is terrible. Mine burned out in 2 weeks . I didn't run it all day it just fails.
Junk pump get a sand pump way better
Agreed, but if folks are on a budget, the pump will do its job for a while.
Not for long.
You never showed us how to turn on filter or work the timer plug! 2 thumbs down for video
This is priceless! 😂
Does water get pumped into hole a and sucked out of hole b ?
Yes
@@FixEverythingYourself 😮i thought it was other way around? B & B sucks in the water, gets filtered in the pump and then spits it out into the pool thru A.
Correct, but from the vantage point of the pump, the first comment is correct (water goes from pump "into" A).
@@FixEverythingYourself my apologies. I do have comprehension skills, I promise 😂🙃😅
If you set up one of these pools and got it working, I know you've got some skills!👍😄
This was very helpful! Thanks for sharing 😊
You're welcome!
