Came over from Adam the woos channel
Awesome! welcome!
9:56 'The Snowman' is an amazing book, animated short (It should have been on my top Christmas animated shorts list), and soundtrack with a gorgeous score composed by Howard Blake who also composed the instrumental score for the 'Flash Gordon' (1980) movie with Queen providing the songs. He also composed the score for Ridley Scott's movie, 'The Duellists' (1977), and many other movies and I think he also composed some music for the British Royal family for important occasions.
One side of that record has the narration accompanying the music and the other side is identical, but purely the score and the 'Walking In The Air' song which is amazing. That's definitely one worth scooping up and I bought a sealed copy cheaply from an eBay seller about 15 or more years ago. :)
I've still got the VHS.
I remember when going to Value Village was fun. You came out with a bag of tapes, clothes, maybe a mp3 cd player for cheap, or a Sony minidisc player, and you spent 40 bucks. Now, nothing but junk, and clothes priced equal to new! All the things that people think are worth the price of gold are sent to auction, so that is why all the vinyl is shit you never heard of, there are no discmans, levis jeans without lycra, nope. turntable worth buying, nope. lots of cds and dvd's as with streaming, they seem to have become valueless. proof is in your video with all cd's $1.
Dude i could have met you too. That's my go to joint!!!
I've been searching for The Snowman on vinyl. Hard to find and pricey in the us. It has sentimental value for me :)
I'm coming to Kissimmee next March, I'll be hoping to find some vinyl during my stay. On my last visit (2018) I found a record store at one end of International Drive and was able to make a few purchases 😊 I think that store may be closed now though so any recommendations would be appreciated ! A Thrift store visit would also be fun.
Bronco is a pretty good band out of Mexico, probably should have bought the tape!
Despite thrifting becoming big business as of late, there are still deals to be found if you look long and hard enough. Having the patience to do so requires a lot of effort.
The problem I have with some thrift stores, is that they overprice their items or sell things that shouldn't be sold. The items they get in are basically donated and they can ask near or higher than regular retail.
Seen you with the woo! Might check you out. Got a load of vinyl.
Awesome! Welcome!
Interesting. Lot’s of stuff there, kind of half flea market. Definitely more expensive than ARC thrift in Colorado, on most things.
7:55 That Tony Bennett 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' record is iconic and it is also on the TAS 2019 List (TAS stands for The Absolute Sound magazine) for its very natural and dynamic sound quality. It's probably the only Tony Bennett record I own which I found for just a dollar or two many years ago at a local thrift store (Salvation Army Thrift Store, Goodwill, or Value Village).
I recommend Googling and checking out that TAS 2019 list which is constantly being updated with new records and features mostly great classical music (especially releases on RCA Living Stereo as well as Mercury Living Presence, Deutsche Grammophon, etc.), but also jazz (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, etc.), rock (The Beatles, David Bowie, The Doors, etc.), soundtracks, world music, and other genres either on LP, 45 rpm, or EP records. :)
If the kid cudi records were cheap, you should have picked those up and traded at a record store for store credit
Very good idea!
Didn't buy nothin'?🤔
