This seriously doesn't even feel like the same expansion anymore and I couldn't be more thrilled about it. The Golden City was hiding so much more than I thought it was AND SOLUTION 9 IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.

In regards to the "medieval fanfare", it's a track from FFIX. Alexandria is a major nation and the starting area in the game, and Dawntrail liberally borrows ideas from IX in the latter half, including tunes, character inspiration, and references. The Everkeep, which Solution 9 is in, bears clear inspiration from another location in FFIX in terms of the exterior design of the tower, and there are tiny little easter eggs littered around that you may see but not understand throughout the xpac.
Ever since Shadowbringers I am suspicious that these are more than just inspirations to the former numbered FF entries. Evven if the devs still deny it. Looking at Novrand it almost reesembles the east southern part of the world map of FF1 by landmass and landmarks (especially after a 100 years long period of draught). And it also is about 10% of the total map size since 90% of the first was engulfed in light. Also the form Elidibus chooses is the MC of that game, also called the hero of light, from a millenium ago.
@@LuriTVso u mean the devs are lazy instead of creating a new story they borrow stuff from other final fantasy games, well I agree, tho it mostly this expansion last expansions it happens, but they are mostly original FF14 stories but this expansion is just straight ff9 they didn't even hide they borrowing stuff yet ff14 players like this guy just keep eating it up like it some sort of amazing thing, some ff14 just eat everything the devs gives them.

Crystal Tower is from ff3.
Azys Lla and the 3 statues are from FF6
Doma is FF6
Eden raids are FF8
Post 6.0 is all FF4
And plenty of other things are pulled from past games.
It has nothing to do with being lazy.

I had very little context from FF9 because I really only played the first few hours. But I froze in place when I saw the Archeo Alexandria area of Heritage Found. My friend is really into FF9 and I asked him "uh, is that... that looks a LOT like..."
Alexandria is a pure callback to FFIX, music and all.
Also in the merchant district (since you're in Solution 9 now) you can buy the cyber bike for 7.5 million gil.
Only my entire FFXIV-life savings.💀

Man I had the Gil at the start of the expansion but I was also working on getting our small FC a little house! I only just made the 5mil back yesterday. The bike is finally mine!

THANK YOU FOR HAVING THE SAME THEORY AS ME! lol A lot of people are saying this couldn't be the 12th reflection because they were rejoined but I think that because of whatever barrier they put up it created like some sort of... tumor for lack of a better word against the Source when the rest of their star was rejoined
@twilightchaosangel011 I could be so far off base because I think all the previous rejoinings WERE implied to be full rejoinings by graha's reflection speech on the first. But it would be so neat if Alexandria survived in an isolated bubble due to their advanced technology.
Yeah, I'm 50/50 on it right now, hoping that the patch content delves more into that.

The calamity of lightning happening thousands of years before the calamity of ice. Which means the 12th was rejoined before the Milala travelled to Alexandria's shard.
@@terabellum My theory is Alexandria is another reflections the Ascians had prepped for another calamity of lightning. They went through all 6 elements, darkness with Bahamut, then the 8th was gonna be Light and the First. But then they'd have to go through 5 of the 6 elements again to get all 13.

The musical themes about Sphene and Alexandria refers all to FF9, maybe you'll check all the references out when you've finished the msq, i recommend it ;)
No spoilers, but I’ll say this much: keep cooking. This entire section of the game literally blew my mind wide open. I was SO far off what was going on… but then post game when I looked back at all of the references and hints… I felt stupid. It was so plain in hindsight, given the game they obviously drew inspiration from. It’s only my favorite ff game of all time and I was the last to figure it all out in the end lol and yes, Cahciua is an absolute treasure lmao as soon as I heard “fussy little bunbun” the first time I literally DIED in my chair. I was so done lol I was in love so hard and it fits Erenville SO WELL. That is the perfect kind of nickname only a mother can give lmao She is definitely the type to make everyone get together in a group while she shows off wildly embarrassing pictures of Erenville while he just kind of stands there mortified. There’s a lot of epic stuff coming up, but I will die on the hill that “fussy little bunbun” is easily the greatest thing to come from the expansion 😂😂😂😂

Sphene is (somewhat) a reference to Princess Garnet of Alexander from FF9. The references here aren't as direct as others have been. Krile the granddaughter of Galuf is a reference to Krile from FF5 who is the granddaughter of Galuf for example. The Ivalice raids are a reference to Ivalice, Fran is a reference to Fran, but these references are more indirect.

I love having the rug pulled out from under me and also the floor removed and also the foundation and also the bedrock under the foundation just whisked away as I plummet into an awesome new narrative. I had so much fun with Dawntrail MSQ.
Also my take is that Vanguard is a top-3 all-time dungeon.

I really find it interesting that too much of a specific aether aspect can cause sicknesses. I wonder what the other reflections versions of these aether sicknesses would be.
It would be fascinating to see a reflection where too much of one aether caused a POSITIVE effect. And these aether afflicted people were like a dominant and subjugating force in their reflection.
Solution 9 is basically coruscant.
- Welcome to the Halo crossover part of the expansion.
- The 97 dungeon is a popular glam farm, though the tank set is underwhelming. The others are pretty good.
- I hope you have a lot of gil. Maybe in the 8-digit range.
- Perfect reason with that jacket to level up Viper.
- There's definitely FF9 references that you'll miss. The music, Alexandria, and Sphene are some of those references.
That cutscene though. To think back to arr or hw and even sb we barely seen people move in cutscenes, they were just always there talking or would walk off screen or fade to black. Since shb and especially ew/dt we’ve got full on action movies happening now. ❤
FF9 is my top favorite game in the series along with 6. I got hit with all the feels with the lil references in the scenes, designs, and music. I'm so glad you finally got to experience this part of the expac and some of the other characters.
