      6 years later, and I've been considering one of the greats for a while now! My first introduction to his work was his Guitar Center Drum Off Solo. Me, as a 11/12 yo kid and aspiring drummer, couldn't handle some of the mindfucks that were caused by JP's playing. Good to see that he's not one of those drummers from that competition, who just won it and disappeared

    The subdivision they throw on at 1:15 (taking the bar and dividing it by five I believe) literally made my jaw drop. So goddamn filthy.

    One of the best young guys out there...Has awesome feel, timing, dynamics, technique....He's very "musical unique"...He's like the Mosquito in a stack of Honey Bee's when I think of other drummer's styles of today !!!

      +Emilios Antoun This man is correct. Ankle bells. They were a gift from a friend. Not too hard to find though, once you know that they're called ankle bells. Godspeed.

      +JPBouvet +MEINL Cymbals - Check out AFROTON. A german Brand such as Meinl ;) They do percussion stuff and Ankle Bells. I just got one and it's awesome. Huge inspiration from JP on that ;)

    What's with the two batter head snare mic situation? Never seen that before.

    • @meinlcymbals
      @meinlcymbals  8 років тому +5

      +Tyler Beasley The two mics on top are a Shure SM 57 and an AKG 451. It was the engineer's call to put two mics on the batter side head.

    • @TomAinsworth94
      @TomAinsworth94 8 років тому +2

      Fairly common man, different Mics give different sounds/qualities even when in the same position so it can sound sick to blend a couple. Search for mic comparison videos, they usually show 4-5 in the same place and the differences can be huge!

  • @aronfebles
    @aronfebles 8 років тому

    I know the drumming is the main focus, but the guitar sounded terrible. Seriously. It sounds like they set the extremely cheap guitar and cheap amp/s on fire, then submerged them in water, threw them around a bit, then set them on fire and submerged them again.

      Interesting! We're digging that sound!! It's so gritty articulate, though minimal!
