Great, informative video. Best I've seen and i've watched a few. I have a 1973 C10 step side. If my truck has the 1" rotors, what is required to go up to the 1.25" rotors? What rear shock relocaters did you use?
The 1.25 in rotor conversion requires spindles, rotors, calipers, wheel bearings, and I always do pads, inner wheel seal, and brake hoses as well. The shock extenders are used in this video were from a company called street race. I also use CPP.
Cutting C-10 factory coil springs. 1" cut off is a 2" drop, 2" is a 4" drop. I've an '87 Chevrolet S-10. Does those coils apply with the same ratio of cut off to drop as well? Or is it different?
Hi - loved your video and subscribed! I’ve got a ‘78 C10 stepper and will be lowering it. Just curious - are those stock rims with 205/75/15 tires on this truck?
Thank you for the subscription! This truck has will ventiques 15x8 OEM style wheels that are made to accept the factory hubcap. The tires are 235 75 15s, I believe kumho.
Thank you! When I made this video I was using McGaughy's exclusively but I have recently switched to CPP. The last three pairs of McGaughy's I bought all had minor issues. None of which were safety concerns but due to the decline of manufacturing quality I switched. You have to be careful with cheap spindles, the body of the spindle itself is cast and if it isn't built properly or machined correctly it won't fit and/or break. And also the pin, the part the rotor and bearing slide on to I have seen machined incorrectly and or not properly pressed into the spindle itself.
Thanks for the quick reply! Ordering CPP now! Quality control is big. Especially with so much social media, information and reviews travel quick! Thanks again!
Any concerns with not notching the frame? What’s been the experience of those who had it done this way? Just concerned about bottoming out if we don’t notch the frame.
We've done several without notches without issues but we just cruise around and haul light loads with bottoming out. If it was going to see heavy loads a notch would be needed.
I appreciate your reply. I read through more of your comments where you said the same thing, but appreciate you taking time to say it again@@BestDamnShopAround
Depends on the brand of the parts, where you buy them, and how many parts you need. For example if your truck needs ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. The main parts should be around the $650 range

Did you have any driveshaft issues? Pinion angle? I just lowered my 78’ with a flip kit and the drive shaft is about to come Out of the front of the engine haha
No issues at all! The flip kit has an offset pin to relocate the rear end slightly forward to alleviate that issue. If the saddles are installed backwards then it would pull the yolk out of the transmission but also set the tires too far back and the fender well
@@BestDamnShopAround I used the offset whole and still have a slight pinion angle problem and shaft is shoved forward. Going to tear down this week. Hopefully it’s a simple solution.

Awesome video man I saved it I’ll be doing this with my 84 long bed BBC. Why the big block coils vs the sb coils?
The big block coils are stiffer due to the increased weight. So when you cut some height out of them they don't become too soft!
When hanging calipers out of the way, remember, wire hangers are a mechanics best friend, I use them all the time lol
That's what I usually use but couldn't find them, so good old zip ties had to do lol
